Sticking Our Noses In The Blog Networks’ Business
Friday, May 26,2006 b5 Continues Its Expansion
I’ll admit it, I was skeptical of b5media’s intentions with the launch of a few of its blogs. It seemed as though they were going for the high paying keywords and the choice of blog subjects was solely based on revenue potential.
With the launch of it’s most recent blog, GenBetween penned by Elizabeth the busy mom, and taking the time to read the content being published across the network, b5media is really starting to grow on me.
…we’re also blogging to make a difference in people’s lives.
With the launch of GenBetween, a new blog in the Family and Relationships Channel, we’re hoping to make someone’s life just a little easier to bear today.

Let’s hope the quality only continues to get better and much luck with their newest blog.

Friday, May 26,2006 Write For IBMeye
IBMeye, part of the b5media network, is currently looking for a writer who won’t drink the water.
There must be something in the water around here as we cant seem to keep an IBM Eye writer. Im currently sourcing a new author. If anyone out there is interested, please drop me a line at jon@b5media.com.
Don’t know if mentioning that you can’t keep a writer instills confidence in potential applicants or not, but I thought it was worth mentioning regardless.

Sticking Our Noses In The Blog Networks’ Business
Friday, October 6,2006 b5media Gets Some Money
It was announced on Wednesday that b5media has raised $2 million USD to fund their blog network’s growth.
b5media Inc. (“b5media”), a global new media network, has raised US$2-million of equity financing in a transaction co-lead by Brightspark Ventures and J. L. Albright Venture Partners. The funding will strengthen the company’s network of bloggers to create greater value for readers and advertisers.
Though there are a few dissenting views about this new turn of events, I wish them the best of luck.
(If you care to read some of these dissenting views and other commentary, you can check out ValleyWag, BusinessLogs, and Rick Segal. You can also catch a nice round up of all the chatter at TechnoSailor.)

Sticking Our Noses In The Blog Networks’ Business
Saturday, February 3,2007 Bloggy Networks Welcomes Gadgetizer
I’m sure the folks at the Bloggy Network are happy with their brand new acquisition. On February 1, 2007, they announced that they would be welcoming a brand new gadget blog, Gadgetizer.com, into their blog network family.
Gadgetizer is a technology blog penned by Tiago Gaspar (who will remain the editor of the blog) and previously owned by Paul Short of Gomaud Media. Details of the acquisition are still sketchy, so we’ll just have to see if any other news develops…like how much it went for. Hint hint.

Good News: Google PR Just Updated (July 16, 2009)!
Posted by Kenneth "Definite" Lee on Jul 17, 2009
Files under PageRank (PR)
You are reading MrDefinite.com 2.0 (make money online) entry.
And this time I am not punished. Instead PR of this site has gone up from a 2 to 3!
Awesomeness!
Remember I said I was penalised to a PR0 some two years ago during Chritmas month? I gained back my PR3 in July 2008 before getting penalised AGAIN to a PR2 for whatever reason during the following Christmas month.
Nabeh!
If that wasn’t enough for me, this site was later degraded to a PR1 in January 2009 for no obvious reasons.
It took me four months to regain back the PR3 position.
Oklah, I know some of you are probably gonna say content is still king. I agree but a higher PR is definitely a plus.

Wikio:

Now That THAT’S Over.
July 27th, 2009 | Danny Methane
Actual News, Culture, Gaming, Movies
Yesterday marked the end of the year’s second largest geek-news generating convention. Unfortuneately, cosplay is alive and well. San Diego’s annual ComicCon is the place to get all the latest news on movies, games, comics, and generally anything else you can think of that is related to geeks. Okay, enough with the boring shit, let’s get to the high lights. - Johnny Depp looks like a jackass in the new “Alice”. -Iron Man 2 features a new villain. Mickey Rourke as Mickey Rourke with metal on. -Tron Lightcycle looks a lot like the Bat cycle. Let’s hope Jeff Bridges doesn’t get throat cancer. -Most fat in one room since Kirstie Alley lost the weight. -Seth Rogen is the Green Hornet. I’m not making this shit up. -Twilight is somehow relevant. Hey, if it makes money, it makes money. -Avatar looks like it’s going to be good. Or a peice of shit. I can’t tell. -Jackie Earl Haley is playing Freddy in the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street. Slap in the face to Robert Englund, who is, to my knowledge, still alive. -My favroite book series will not be finished in the half-completed movie series. -Jim Carrey is reprising his role as the Grinch in, “A Christmas Carol.” So there you have it. Amongst some news about L4D2, which is all I care about, there wasn’t much gaming news. Most of my info came from pics over at www.imdb.com and news at www.kotaku.com

The Comic-Con Cosplay Massacre vol. 1
July 31st, 2009 | Just Zach
Actual News, Culture, Internets
I love conventions, if only for the people that haunt these things. I’m a big people-watcher, and without a doubt one of the best places to do it is Comic-Con. I didn’t have the luck to make it out myself, but the guys at Maximum PC and io9 got a pretty wide swath of photos from the convention floor. And in the great tradition of armchair internet doucebaggery, we’re here to ruthlessly tease everyone who decided to cosplay the event. I look at it like this… they wouldn’t dress up like anime characters if they didn’t want the attention. This is going to be a graphics heavy post… users with slow connections would be best advised to stop living in the past and get a T1 line. Looks like a dude, that’s all I’m saying. The chest could be false. If that’s not a dude, then I’d best do something about that outrageous man-jaw. D I’ve never been a huge fan of Nightmare on Elm Street, nor are the constumes here particularly hard to put together… I just want to give these guys a shout out for the Diesel Sweeties Red Robot. C+ For the life of me I cannot figure out why, but the old school Silk Spectre from the Watchmen movie seemed to strike a nerve this year with the cosplayer crowd. We’re keeping count here. As for the rest… meh. C. If it wasn’t Silk Spectre, it was Slave Girl Leia. B+ Forgive me if I sound bitter, but I hate Disney. Oh yeah, there’s been a few gems over the years (outside of the near-perfect Pixar, that is), and even Hercules wasn’t bad. But I gotta ask… Where’s the demand? In a convention dominated by comic and sci-fi and video game characters… cosplaying DISNEY just makes me scratch my head. C And for our first celebrity cosplay of the evening… Vincent Price! B+ Maybe I’m missing something, geek ladies… I just don’t get it. You’ll have to forgive me for not seeing the appeal dressing up in uncomfortable, demeaning clothing as misproportioned, oversexed media characters made for sexually repressed teen boy consumption. I can’t imagine THAT feeling comforable at all. B- It’s a cylon, right? B. Yeah, you pretty much had to have been to run around in that. D. What are we at? 5 now? Points docked for lousy picture. C+ Dan’s favorite (to the surprise of NO ONE.) Bill’s beard is all kinds of laughable, but the guy in the tank costume redeems them for walking around in that mess. Bonus for group dynamics. A- When there’s something strange… and the pros are out… Who you gonna call ? TEMP HOTLINE! C. Celebrity cosplay number 2… Hey! Smarmy son of a bitch! That’s not a costume. No shortcuts! Bastard probably already had that beard. D- Way to class up the joint, Valve. I can only hope this guy is still a white belt in Jarate. B SCORPION! C+ See… this is what I call a good costume. Simple. Clean. Understated. I give these guys the nod for my favorite. B+ Scorpion? B- Exhibitor? I’ll say. I definitely saw more than I wanted to. D+ Yep. It’s getting to be a race now. Silk Spectre is making a comeback… by scratching the bottom of the barrel, anyways. C- I always had a hard time beliving mankind’s greatest phd/hero/physiscist was only 27… but if he’s hanging out here, it makes a little more sense. B+ You know, in the Venture Brothers show, The Monarch’s henchmen are supposed to be this dumpy and useless… I LOVE the dedication to the source material! A- This guy just gets points for finding a head-to-toe spandex suit with fingers. B+ That’s another point for the Silk Spectre… and props for the production values. Seriously… check the details on the Comedian. A- I mean… just look. He WAS a redshirt. In the inevitable Star Trek /Alien crossover, my money is on the xenomorphs… just saying. B But at the last minute, Uninterested Diva Leia seals it for the slave girls! You know, I can almost make out the order on the Starbucks cup next to her. B- But now we’re at the end, and it’s time to decide a winner. I can’t pick. It’s down to two. It’s either us… Or this guy… OH GOD, HE’S GOING FOR THE LITTLE GIRLS!

The Comic-Con Cosplay Massacre vol. 1

Megyn Kelly Repeats False Stimulus Claim
Posted by FoxNewsBoycott on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009
Filed under Fox News
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) mentioned, in a report, an abandoned train station that is to receive $10million in stimulus funds. Fox News’ Megyn Kelly repeated that assertion twice on June 23 in an effort to show wasteful spending of stimulus funds. KELLY: Well, the president promised to, quote, “call out any wasteful spending” he sees under his $787 billion stimulus plan. Now we learn that nearly 10 million bucks has gone to renovate an abandoned train station that no one uses… KELLY: — they wanted to repave a backup runway — they’re calling this the airport for nobody; 3.4 million for a wildlife eco-passage in Florida that takes the animals safely under a busy highway; $10 million to renovate an abandoned train station that hasn’t been used in 30 years, Stu. Unfortunately for both, it’s not really true. While the station house is closed, the platform is not. The station’s platform currently serves more than 80,000 passengers per year, up nearly twice as much as it did five years ago. Original Story Tweet This Post No related posts.

Fox News: Affair-Having Mark Sanford is a Democrat

Fox news did it again… An embarrassing situation for a Republican ends up being an embarrassing situation for Fox news as they, once again, claim the subject a Democrat. In this case, it’s Gov. Mark Sanford (R-SC) who recently disappeared for several days while staff incorrectly stated that he was hiking, when he was actually out of the country visiting a woman with whom he’d been having an affair. Fox news later fixed their error.
