What Is The Definition of Internet Marketing? In the past few years, everyone has been going on and on about marketing businesses and products online, but what exactly is the definition of internet marketing? Is it as simple as throwing up a website and emailing a few people about it? Well, yes and no. So far, the definition of what constitutes internet marketing isn’t really set, but there are some things people agree on. First, it’s not always necessary to have a website to do internet marketing. It’s very useful, yes, and you’ll get many more customers if you have one. However, you can send out emails, participate in message board discussions, and even join chat rooms to market your products and services without ever making a website. One aspect of internet marketing that doesn’t really work, despite what your email inbox might show, is spam. Well, spamming messages and emails, anyway (there are other types that are somewhat useful). Yes, emailing people about your products is a good marketing idea, but if the recipient doesn’t want to know about what you have to offer, he or she will simply mark your email as spam. Be sure the people you email actually want to get your emails before you send them. So what’s good spam, then? It really depends on how you look at it. One popular practice of getting your site out there is to read people’s blogs and post comments, then add your site link in either the name area or at the end of your post. Since you’re actually responding to what they say, it’s not exactly spamming. On the other hand, you’re writing a comment more or less just to get your site’s link on the blog, so it is spam in a way. Is spam even in the definition of internet marketing then? Again, it’s really hard to say. Certainly sending mass emails to people who don’t care about your service isn’t useful and a waste, but sometimes posting on message boards and blogs brings people to your site. Another dubious method of internet marketing lies with social networks like MySpace and Facebook. Starting a profile on these sites for your products or services can bring in hundreds of new customers since these sites have millions of people on them. However, adding people to your friends list just to get your name out there is, to some, more obnoxious spamming that isn’t welcome. What it all comes down to is that you want to get your name and website, if you have one, out to as many people online as you can, but you don’t want to be annoying about it. That’s where internet marketing is really different from offline marketing. Flyers, billboards, and ads in newspapers are much more easily ignored than popup ads, spam emails, and hundreds of friend requests on MySpace. Basically, when it comes to online marketing, a good rule to remember is that if you wouldn’t want to see it, don’t send or post it. If you’re selling pet related products, for example, you probably shouldn’t send a friend request to someone who says they don’t like animals. All in all, “don’t spam” seems to be perhaps the best definition of internet marketing out there.

Businesses who depend largely on traffic to their website will often offer you to sign up as an affiliate. Sometimes, some businesses will even offer you a bonus by just signing up as an affiliate. Business cases are also interesting for me. Products that bring homes a distinctive feel reflecting modern life. Year-long cumulative bonuses, data feeds, and residual payments make this program a winner. Products having return policies can increase the conversion rate but may also lead to debiting in case of a chargeback. Promoting products sold on a trial period basis requires cookie detection to track sales at the end of the period which is very unreliable. Websites with high quality content, relevant keywords and more importantly, the right information about the product and not empty hyped-up advertisements, allow you to earn big in affiliate marketing even while you sleep. If you are not able to sustain the interest of your site visitor, you won’t be able to lead him through the sales process. Web affiliates agree to display a company’s web links and/or banners on their website. They can even go a step further by advocating their benefits in their online newsletters and e-mails. Website submission into the best and most popular search engines on the net. HOW your web site is submitted does make a difference! Choose a program which offers relevant content. If you sell computers, look for a program which offers software banners, for example. Choose affiliate program that are already successful and well established like SFI. Choose the one that offer good training and good marketing aids. Choose affiliate programs that complement your Web site content. If your site is all about sports, then chances are you will want to skip on setting up a co-branded Web store for cartoon themed car accessories. Online directories offer you a chance to compare different programs and select the best possible one with ease. Some popular online affiliate directories for finding two tier commission affiliate programs are 2-tier.com and 2tiered.com. Online affiliate marketing is a way of making money by joining with the affiliate network of a company and place a link of the product or service offered by that company in our website. When a person buys a product by visiting this link we will be getting an amount as commission. Promoting a relatively new product is a good practice. You can judge the response of that product by marketing the selected product through advertising search engines. Promote the best Affiliate programs and you will be rewarded overtime. It does not matter which niche you are targeting.

Article marketing is a concept that can greatly boost the capabilities of a website, but unfortunately getting started with it tends to feel tedious or overwhelming. Article marketing is not a difficult task, however, so if you are serious about utilizing this form of internet marketing, the following the steps outlined below will give you a good boost in the right direction. Here is the basic information that you need to know when you want to learn how to write an article for internet marketing: 1 – The first thing to know is that article marketing has numerous objectives. The first is to generate keyword driven content that relates to your niche. The second is to create a link back to your website that search engines and potential visitors can follow. The third objective is simply to get your name out there as an authority on whatever subject you are trying to sell. All three of these objectives are important and should be considered when writing an internet marketing article. 2 – Internet marketing articles can range significantly in word count, but readers tend to prefer articles between 450 and 750 words. Your article should use friendly and easy to read language, small paragraphs and headers to break up the text whenever possible. 3 – Your article should focus on a topic relating to your website, and it should primary intend to inform potential readers. If the people who read your article feel like you know what you are talking about, they will travel through your link to your website to learn more information on the topic. 4 – If you really do understand your niche or product, writing about it should not be difficult. If you are not sure where to begin, visit online article syndication websites to get a feel for what is already available online and proceed from there. If you still need assistance, consider contacting a professional copywriter to help you put your article marketing content together. Article marketing is such a vital part of attracting visitors to your websites that you really need to get it right. 5 – Once your article is written, make sure it includes a call to action that invites readers to visit your website for more information. This will be at the bottom of your article, and should include a link to your website. When your article is submitted to article directories, it will allow people searching for information on the topic to find the information you are providing. If they are impressed with your level of expertise, they will follow your link back to your website for more information. Article marketing is an excellent way to build traffic to your website while providing valuable links to build page rank in search engines like Google, while simultaneously building your reputation as an authority on the subject at hand. If you are not already participating in this vital form of marketing for your website, you could be missing out on traffic that simply does not know how or where to find you.

How to Define marketing Tools for Online Shops Everyone can name some of the most common marketing tools, but how to define marketing tools for online shops? It’s not quite as simple as saying email, which seems to be the favorite form of spammers. Flyers, ads, and billboards are obvious definitions of offline marketing tools, but let’s take a look at some of their online equivalents. Email is actually a marketing tool that can be useful as long as you don’t overdo it. Don’t spam anyone who hasn’t asked for information from your business, especially with a mass mailer that goes out every week. What is acceptable is to create a mailing list that your customers can opt to join and have the option of leaving at any time. Another perfectly acceptable way of using email as a marketing tool is to put information about your business in the signature portion of each message. You won’t have room to say too much, so most people simply list their company, their website, and sometimes the address or phone number. This way, everyone you email gets a small reminder of your business in a non-obtrusive way. If you want to define marketing tools that reach more than those whom you regularly email, you might think of message boards. These online communities allow people to discuss various topics and exchange ideas without being online at the same time. Some of them have specific areas for posting about businesses, contests, and the like. Be sure to read the board rules before you post, though, or you might be banned for spamming. Chat rooms are similar to message boards with the exception that the only people who see your message are the other people in the room. Chat rooms aren’t the greatest place to market your online business since people are often discussing things that aren’t at all related to your site. You can spam in chat rooms, of course, but again, you’ll likely be banned or simply ignored. Spam, as you can obviously tell, is not a great marketing tool, and it’s one of the things you have to be very careful about. Everyone is on the guard against spam, or unwanted messages, these days, and it’s next to impossible to get unblocked once you’ve made it onto someone’s spam filter list. To prevent that from happening, remember that the definition of an online marketing tool is not a message that reaches as many people as often as possible. Never send unwanted email to someone, especially if you’re just sending them information about your business. It is acceptable to ask people if they’d like to be added to a mailing list when they purchase items from you, though. No matter which of these marketing tools you use, just be sure to always use them responsibly. Think of how annoyed you would be if someone were to constantly post about their online pharmacy on your message board about dogs or in your painting chat room. Define marketing tools for online businesses as only those messages you’d like to get and you’ll do very well.

Trend Micro researchers recently discovered a phishing attack that targets Yahoo! Search marketing users. A phishing email that pretends to help update the recipient’s account is spammed to users, hoping to convince them into giving out account credentials. Screenshots below: Figure 1: Spammed phishing email containing link to phishing page Figure 2: Phishing page asking for Yahoo! Search marketing credentials Yahoo! Search marketing is an advertising service offered by Yahoo! to users who want their advertisements placed on Yahoo! pages. According to Web information company Alexa, Yahoo! is the Number 1 most popular Web site, thus explaining advertisers’ interest on Yahoo! Web pages. Innocent advertisers who might think that this email is indeed a legitimate alert may use their credentials to log in into the phishing page, thus compromising their account. This may lead to the unauthorized use of the user’s Yahoo! Search marketing account, possibly modifying settings on the account to redirect profits to the phisher. The phisher can also possibly use the account for malicious means such as SEO manipulation and malvertising, both malware distribution techniques we’ve seen not so far back this year. The URL and phishing email is now blocked by the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network. Users are advised to disregard any similar, unsolicited emails that arrive on their inbox. It is also important only update their credentials by connecting directly to the Web site, and not by clicking links in spammed emails. Mortgage Blog marketing and Your Database
September 20th, 2008 categories: Mortgage Blogs / Social Media
I am not an expert, I just real a lot… I go to seminars too. At REBlogworld this Friday, I had an opportunity to hear Dan Green share some insights and strategies about how his mortgage blog is producing the type of volume that some of us were bragging about in 2005. With the ability to lend in 50 states, Dan takes full advantage of the power his blog has to reach potential mortgage purchase, refinance and investor clients. While most loan officers and real estate professionals can easily get overwhelmed by Internet marketing, SEO, and social media noise, Dan has had a clearly defined purpose for his blog since he launched it in 2005. TheMortgageReports.com was designed as a way for Dan to communicate with current clients everyday about how mortgage news, guidelines, and the overall lending process relates to their needs. Simple. He writes articles on his blog that are relevant to mortgage borrowers and then regularly communicates with his database by emailing valuable content. Basically, if there is turbulence on Wall Street that may increase interest rates, Dan writes an article or finds one in his archives and sends a link out letting people know that it may be a good time to consider locking. By constantly driving people back to his blog where he has committed to writing daily mortgage updates, Dan reinforces his value to clients and referral partners. For most busy loan officers, developing and publishing a blog with well written mortgage articles is a huge challenge. Since first impressions online only last a few seconds, it is imperative to be positioned as an educated professional loan officer. Simply stating on your About page that you are “Committed to Service” and then giving viewers a link to a mortgage glossary will not earn their trust or confidence in your ability to fulfill their needs or answer their questions. You need timely, relevant, and valuable content…. and a lot of it, immediately! BringTheBlog.com is a service that provides loan officers with an archive of professionally written mortgage blog articles, as well as a daily post to your personal blog. If you don’t have a blog, they can also provide an easy template that literally takes a few minutes a day to manage. This is also a great program for loan officers who have their own blog and just need a little filler content on the days that they don’t have time to execute a good blog post. These are well articulated articles written as an educational mortgage resource for your clients. Short and to the point, BrinTheBlog.com’s posts are specifically designed to communicate directly to your target audience. The goal is to provide valuable content on a daily basis that will establish you as a professional loan officer. Will people read every last word of each article? Probably not. It doesn’t matter though, because the value is in the first 120 seconds that clients spend on your site evaluating whether or not they want to do business or continue doing business with you. We can save the SEO and “Join the Online Community” talk for another post. This is a specific mortgage sales and marketing strategy that involves database marketing with a professional mortgage blog.  Check out www.BringTheBlog.com and www.TheMortgageReports.com for more information. *Disclaimer – This is not a sales pitch, Mark Madsen does not have any affiliate relationships set up with BringTheBlog.com. Help, I’m a mortgage vendor and my Internet marketing sucks!
September 7th, 2008 categories: Mortgage Blogs / Social Media
With all of the spam emails and online noise, there is a reason why mortgage professionals are skeptical of every new “Magic Bullet” idea that is pitched to them. The product or service providers that have not learned the New Rules of marketing and PR will ultimately fail at generating new business online. Interruption marketing is out of style. Loan officers looking to buy stuff are motivated by social proof, interaction, and choice. Social networking communities have empowered us with the ability to avoid your squeeze pages and privileged access to proprietary information. Integrity is measured through transparency and everything is challenged. To have an effective Internet marketing strategy that connects with, builds trust, and converts your target audience into actual paying clients, there are several things you should pay attention to: Define your target audience, know their needs, and learn how they search for solutions Analyze your Google-ability, key search phrases, and Internet exposure Be aware of your competition online Search Engine Optimization Social Network Optimization Search Engine Marketing Profiles in high traffic industry social networks and forums Link building and participating in hundreds of online conversations Press releases and article writing Frequent blog articles Managing your online reputation Strategic exposure in vertical search engines Politics and co-marketing Online ethics Building relationships with industry thought leaders Permission Marketing Podcasts Twitter The moral of the story - The rules have changed and you need to make a commitment now to take responsibility for your company’s online reputation. Traditional Mortgage marketing is Doomed
July 17th, 2008 categories: Mortgage Blogs / Social Media
That may be a bold title for my first article here, but I wanted to establish my position for the benefit of our readers and contributors. Most of my content in this blog will focus on showing mortgage professionals easy ways of expanding their reach through social media. The old advertising methods of pushing generic content to an unsuspecting crowd won’t work for much longer.  We have all figured out how to ignore the spam and avoid online traps.  However, by integrating simple thought leadership exercises into our mortgage sales and marketing strategies, we can reach our target audience at the precise moment they are ready to buy.  As ugly as it may get, social media is also about gaining an education through conversation.  Opening up the lines of communication allows us to really hear what our clients want and need.  Just as mortgage professionals are shouting for more relevant discussions from industry leaders, borrowers also want to hear how the lending process applies directly to their specific needs.  Old school wisdom + web 2.0 = new mortgage sales and marketing techniques ______________________________________________________________________________ Mortgage marketing and Sales Action Plan 1 Social Media strategy you can use today - Establish yourself as a Thought Leader Write a valuable comment on an informative blog article and email a link to your clients or referral partners. When you participate in those conversations, your target audience gets to see you in action.  Another benefit is that people may follow your footprint back to your own site if you sound like you know what you are talking about.    Motion Creates Emotion.  Get out there and make some noise! How a small business can increase profits using online social marketing…
Written by Patrysha on April 6, 2009 at April 6th, 2009
Online marketing
This video pretty much sums up how any small business can utilize the internet to service their local markets. “One Thing” marketing…

marketing
If you’ve watched the movie City Slickers, you’ll no doubt recall the scene where Jack Palance suggests there is just one thing you need for a happy life or some such nonsense.  (I really wasn’t all that fond of the movie…something about guys going to hang out to play with cows and horses that I just do not get, but I digress – as I often do!) The point is, when you boil down marketing to one thing it really does become quite simple… When you bring together a wide array of tools and tactics and use them all towards one goal you really can’t go wrong… That one goal… To improve the  customer experience from first contact to follow up! An improved customer experience always leads to increased sales. “It’s simple math!”… as my former manager often said (well not direct manager, but he was involved with the training in the early days of XM105…now I hear he is working in Chilliwack or some such place, I could look it up, but is it really relevant here?) Even if your marketing budget is a big fat zero, you can apply that to your business and win. Think like your customer and deliver what they are looking for at a price they can afford is really all it takes. Books, Marketing, Portfolio Pieces, Steals and Deals, Whitecourt Biz News
Among other things on my list of accomplishments today, I finalized the proof for my first physical book. I started offering it to followers on Twitter and then developed an SMMO  for my friends at MomMasterminds. I finished off the evening tasks before dinner by  changing my signature line at Small Business Forum. Now that everyone is now fed, and the lights are being turned down low, it’s time to update the website. Profitable Marketing: Foundations for Busy Business Owners is now available in digital and print format. To get your free copy (shipping may apply to out of town orders) use my Services Request form indicating the format you’d prefer and the appropriate contact information or call 780-268-0412 and leave the same information. This short book is filled with marketing truths that may help you see marketing in a new way for your small business. Using expert quotes and recent research to back up basic marketing strategies, you’ll find this small package carries a lot of valuable marketing information that you can apply to your business with relatively little effort. So, what are you waiting for? Fill in the form and see if the free stuff we offer at PK marketing Solutions measures up to your expectations. My Top 5 Wordpress Plugins
by Mike JDS, under Wordpress
Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.Powered by WP Greet BoxI’ve been using wordpress for a while and created quite a few blog sites and affiliate stores from using it since then. One of the best things about wordpress is its constantly moving forward in terms of development. With the added benefit of being able to install numerous wordpress plugins to sites, Wordpress just about has the answer to every one of my problems covered, when creating and developing my affiliate sites. For me when I started out in affiliate marketing, I found building sites quite difficult, as trying to find everything I needed to make a good site and pull it all together, just seemed to take forever or they simply never worked, even after all the hard work that had been put in. Never tried wordpress before?.. If you haven’t tried using wordpress before then do it now. Some people think all you can do on wordpress is create blogs. Let me tell you, thats not true,  you can also create very effective affiliate stores and eshops by using it. And best of all wordpress its free! – Which is simply amazing really. Choosing which plugins to use does vary depending on what type of site/blog I’m creating. There are however some that I nearly always use, so I’ve picked them to list and show you here. My most popular wordpress plugins… 1. All In One SEO… Wordpress is already naturally good for getting your sites optimised for the search engines,  mainly due to the way blog sites are geared up for adding new fresh content and easy for the search bots to crawl. Add this plugin and end up with an SEO machine! It enables you to simply and easily add meta title tags, descriptions and keywords to all of your posts or pages. 2. Sociable… Another great plugin managed by Joost. (Yoast) Sociable allows your users to bookmark your site, email to friends, print pages, or access RSS feeds from your site/blog. Once installed the plugin displays icons at the bottom of pages or posts. You can choose which options you wish to display depending on the nature of your site and also turn it on or off on individual posts/pages. There are loads of social networks to choose from like Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Digg, plus many more. (You can see the icons at the bottom of this page) 3. My Page Order… Sounds simple.. And it is. I tend to create alot of pages when I create wordpress sites. It used to be a bit of a nightmare organising pages into the correct order because with wordpress you had to arrange each page in order by allocating a number to each one. Whenever new pages were added to the site you sometimes had to re-number them all and it was easy to get things mixed up. As soon as you install My Page Order, you can simply drag and drop your pages into order you want. This also includes sub-category pages. 4. WP – GreetBox… Depending on how you arrived here at marketing Mix, you may have received a greeting message. This was generated by the wordpress greetbox plugin. Again similar to ’sociable’ it supports alot of social networks and encourages users to bookmark your sites. You have the option to  individually change each greeting message to whatever you want. 5. Google XML Sitemaps… Creating a sitemap for your site is important as it allows search bots to crawl through your site more easily. Not only does this plugin generate a sitemap for you, but it also notifys google and other search engines whenever your site is updated (depending on what settings you choose). Tip: Don’t install this plugin until you have completed your site and ready to launch it. Its a great way of getting your site indexed. I’m always on the lookout for more great plugins, so if you use wordpress yourself and come across any that you find particularly usefull. I’d be keen to hear your thoughts. If you are looking for a quick increase in website traffic, particularly if you have created a new site, it’s a relatively easy process to get some extraordinary quick results. More importantly is that you can get this traffic free of charge! Trying to get your website listed with the major Search Engines is often a lengthy, complicated, and sometimes an expensive task. One act that will be increasing your presence on the web, is to write your own original articles. What do I write about? Select a subject that you are familiar with, or one that relates to your websites. If is so should happen that you are interested in the spesific topic then it should be alot easier and effective to write about your interest. Be sure to have at least 250-300 words. You may have already written something similar, that you printed on your website. What comes after that? You will then go on to submit your articles to article directories, such as Ezine and Goarticles, who will then circulate your article on their websites. It is quite obvious that the more directories you submit your article to, the more exposure you will receive. What to do next… Every time you publish your article; there are two crucial catergories. The formerly is the “Authors box”. This is where you add your website details, as the creator of the Article. So you could say something similar to this: “John Doe, an established computer expert, has been actively involved in the computer industry for well over 8 years, and has gained a unique experience about bla bla whatever during this time. If you would like more information on (your niche) then please visit his website at: www.johndoe.com” The 2nd is the “Keyword categorie.” Where you would enter say “computers, computer software problems, computer hardware problems, monitor problems etc.,” that the search engines absolutely love. The “Resource Section” stays with your article every time it is published, as you are the creator of  the article, you will always own the copyright to the spesific article. How will this bring me traffic? 1. With your publication, and website information, listed in the article sites, people who are searching for your niche will read your article, and to learn more, will visit also visit your website. These article sites are getting huge traffic from visitors that are looking for new articles that interest them. 2. These articles are then published by other webmasters that are in need for new content to add to their websites. They syndicate your content on their websites, holding your site details and links in place, which brings you yet more hits/visitors/traffic. 3. Each time your article is uploaded and syndicated accross other websites, you have another backlink to your site. The whole development starts to snowball, and all from just 1 single article. Without subscribers any effective email marketing campaign would be deemed useless. For this same reason, I compiled a list of tips and tricks to guide you on the road to success and also help you on your way to build a profitable list. Let’s begin: Using Effective Email marketing Software The most popular and effective email software to use is currently Aweber. They currently have a promotion for a free trial which will suit you well if you are truly serious about making money through emails. You can get the free trial by filling in the form below: “The Money Is In The List“ Name: Email: AWeber proves it to thousands of businesses every day. Learn how email marketing software can get you more sales, too. Grant your subscribers access to easily change their email addresses Building an email list is easy, retaining subscribers is a lot more difficult. Make sure that your subscribers can easily change their email addresses at any time. This will help with the retention of your valuable clients. Landing Pages should be relevant An effective email marketing campaign would be worthless if the landing page does not correspond to the message that was sent out. Make sure that the landing page is relevant and that it would truly benefit your audience. People who unsubscribe should be removed from your list immediately Be sure that once a person unsubscribes, they are completely removed from the list and will not be emailed again. Testing is always important and can be done by manually subscribing and unsubscribing to test it’s effectiveness. Always Double Opt-In!! Be sure to always create a double opt-in form. A double opt-in is when a person subscribes and then confirms their email address. This counts as a double opt-in and would be the most effective way to never be accused of spam. People need motivation to subscribe! Be sure to offer some kind of reward for signing up to your newsletter. Whether it is a ebook or video, it doesn’t really matter. As long as the offer is valuable enough for them, they will subscribe. Opt-In Forms On Every Page The most effective email marketing strategies are useless without subscribers. Have a opt-in form on every page. You can use widgets to embed forms if you are using Wordpress or you could insert the opt-in code by pasting it directly into the template. Blasting those emails! Before you blast emails to your list, first look at a couple of factors like: 1. When it the best time to email? Is it on a Monday? Wednesday? 2. Which emails get the most clicks? Once you know this, you would be able to hone your skills and improve conversions. Knowing this is an important step towards effective email marketing. Testing links in the email body There is nothing worse than sending out thousands of emails and later realizing that you sent the wrong link. Trust me… it happened to me! Using the subscribers first name “Dear Jacques” sounds a lot better than “Dear Friend”. Most email marketing software allows you to include the first name of the person by simply typing . Use this function to your advantage. CTA - Call To Action Subscribers should know what is expected from them and what they can start expecting in return for that specific action. Be Can-Spam Compliant Be sure to read The CAN-SPAM Act: Requirements for Commercial Emailers. That would give you a detailed understanding of what is expected from you to be compliant. Forget about exclamation marks in emails Use words and bold rather than exclamation marks. Example: Subscibe to my newsletter now!!!!! OR Subsribe to my newsletter NOW Have fun with it Email marketing can get boring sometimes so be sure to have fun while interacting with those that show you the most love… your subscribers. Keep It Legal There are a variety of legal regulations you need to be aware of. Any good email service will help you meet the requirements of the CAN-SPAM act, but the responsibility is ultimately up to you. This includes having an opt-out link for customers who no longer want to receive emails from you. Unsubscribe requests need to be honored within 10 days. You must also display a valid physical address in each email. Finally, avoid deceptive subject lines. Keep your subject lines on target with the content of the emails.
