Dev Team Advises Users Not To Upgrade To iphone OS 3.1 Beta Firmware

Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to Subscribe to the RSS feed or Via Email for updates on this blog.The reasons as to why Dev Team decided to delay the release of JailBreak for iphone 3GS until iphone OS 3.0.1 firmware is out it will only benefit only few people and Apple to be expected to to release iphone OS 3.0.1 firmware soon to block ultrasn0w and the iboot exploit. Surely it’s a good decision by Dev Team because there will be many users who won’t be able to jailbreak their iphone after Apple launched iphone 3.0.1. Automatically in iphone OS 3.0.1 you will not be able to upload the old iBoot to your phone albeit it’s official apple signed code because Apple might fix the iBoot Family bug that in the old iBoots. If this is happening then there’s no way you can unlock or jailbreak your iphone 3GS. Good day! RIght on the heels of me selling my iphone comes an announcement from Apple that the iphone will be upgraded to its 3.0 version.  This upgrade is just a software upgrade and will be freely available to iphone owners. but the significant thing about this upgrade is the addition of a few widely wanted features. Copy n Paste MMS (picture messaging) Stereo bluetooth Dock assesory support   Seems like many of the complaints I have has witht he iphone will be fixed with the 3.0 update.  well for some people. some of the features such as MMS and A2DP will not work on the origional iphone due to changes that was made in the hardware since the origional.  but all you 3g owners will get all the new features for free. iPod touch owners will have to pay for the upgrade. In 10 years of internet marketing this content management software has finally made me rich. Who would have thought a fully SEO optimized wordpress blog site could be so easy to make. I start by first researching my chosen keywords. Next step is to choose a template from 200+ selections. Then I cut and paste the keywords of choice into my handy dandy web content management system, press submit and shazaam!!! I have a fully search engine optimized wordpress blog site. Well, there is a few more little settings to tweak it further such as putting content on autopilot and also filling the site with content for the first time. Knowing how to blog and use social networking sites is an important part of internet marketing today. Let me be the one to tell you about the most amazing web content management software ever to be designed. The coolest thing about this new content management software I use is it’s ability to quickly generate a fully search engine optimized wordpress blog site. You likely already know how important search engine optimization is in your marketing efforts. This does much more then that. It didn’t take me long to learn how to master this totally “must have” web content management software. It only takes 2 to 3 hours from start to finish to produce a fully search engine optimized wordpress blog site. That includes the time it takes to research a profitable keyword topic. Software-Wahnsinn Neues vom alltäglichen Wahnsinn (nicht nur) der Software-Technik « Symfony-Camp 2008 (V) – alle Vorträge im Netz verfügbar Morgen geht’s los » Quasseln in der Lehrerfortbildung In Jochen Lüders’ Blog las ich eben einen interessanten Beitrag, wie man das Quasseln von Schülern im Unterricht der gymnasialen Oberstufe unterbinden kann. Da fiel mir ein Erlebnis ein, dass ich vor ein paar Wochen machen durfte: Ich hospitierte bei einer Fortbildung für Lehrer, die an Berufskollegs für Mediengestalter unterrichten. Der Grund, warum ich dabei war, ist, dass ich evtl. demnächst selber solche Fortbildungen geben werde. Aber dazu demnächst vielleicht mehr. Was mich doch sehr erstaunte, war die Tatsache, dass die anwesenden Lehrer hemmungslos herum quatschten, schwätzten und quasselten, was das Zeug hielt. Es war auch absolut unerheblich, dass ein Referent vor ihnen stand, dessen Aufgabe es war, den anwesenden Lehrern Inhalte zu vermitteln. Und von eben diesen Inhalten hatte die meisten der Anwesenden nicht einen blassen Schimmer. Es wäre also nicht unklug gewesen, auch mal zuzuhören. Was mich aber vielmehr erstaunt hat, mit welcher Selbstverständlichkeit gequatscht wurde und der Seminarleiter stellenweise vollkommen ignoriert wurde. Diesen jedoch habe ich bewundert, denn er ließ sich nicht aus der Ruhe bringen und trug seinen Stoff vor. Umso mehr musste ich dann bei o.g. Blog-Artikel lachen, als ich den dritten Punkt las: Zur Wahl stellen, ob sie ihr Aufmerksamkeitsproblem als (fast) erwachsene junge Menschen selber in den Griff bekommen möchten oder ob Du ihnen eine Hilfeleistung geben musst, die ihnen vielleicht nicht gefällt. Wenn sie selber wollen, fragen WIE – bloße Absichtsbekundung ist zu billig. Vor allem, dass von (fast) erwachsene junge Menschen die Rede ist. Berufsschul-Lehrer sind aber schon erwachsen und sie schaffen es anscheinend auch nicht, mal 90 Minuten am Stück ihren Schnabel zu halten. Ich bin mal gespannt, wie es mir ergeht, wenn ich das erste Mal bei einem Seminar vor Lehrern stehe und ob ich den einen oder anderen Tip aus Jochens Blog vielleicht auch bei Lehrern anwenden kann… Tags: Berufsschule, Fortbildung, Lehrer, Mediengestalter, Seminar Dieser Eintrag wurde am Dienstag, 14. Software-Wahnsinn Neues vom alltäglichen Wahnsinn (nicht nur) der Software-Technik « Symfony-Camp 2008 (II) – the day after Symfony-Camp 2008 (IV) – die Folien » Symfony-Camp 2008 (III) – das Fazit Wie eben schon angekündigt, kommt jetzt hier mein Fazit des diesjährigen Symfony-Camps. Das Wetter: Es war leide, leider sehr (wirklich sehr) nass. Denn der Regen, der am Freitag gegen Mittag einsetzte hörte zwar abends mal auf, dafür setzte er aber zuverlässig am Samstag morgen wieder ein. Die Sonne, die uns Lambert vollmundig schon für Freitag, 15:00 Uhr, angekündigt hatte, erschien dann auch um 15:00 Uhr – aber leider erst am Samstag Ich muss sagen, dass ich diejenigen, die in Zelten auf dem Camp-Gelände übernachteten wirklich nicht beneidet habe. Zum Glück gab es einen Bauheizer, der das Vortrags-Zelt auf halbwegs annehmbare Temperaturen bringen konnte, so dass man sich während der Vorträge nicht den Allerwertesten abfrieren musste. Die Teilnehmer: Ein sehr buntes und internationales Völkchen ist dort dieses Jahr zusammen gekommen. Mit 36 von 80 Teilnehmern stellten wir Deutsche zwar den Löwenanteil aller Teilnehmer, die Konferenzsprache blieb aber englisch Es hat wieder sehr viel Spaß gemacht Gleichgesinnte (wieder) zu treffen und neue Menschen kennen zu lernen. Vor allem die Gespräche in den Vortrag-Pausen und am Freitagabend sind mit ein Grund, um nächstes Jahr wieder zu kommen. Auch in diesem Jahr wurden daher wieder fleißig Visitenkarten und E-Mail-Adressen ausgetauscht. Die Unterkunft: Anders als die oben erwähnten Camper habe ich dieses Jahr auch wieder eine Bed&Breakfast-Unterkunft dem Zelten vorgezogen. Bei dem unberechenbaren Wetter in Leusden nicht die schlechteste Entscheidung… Über das B&B gibt es nicht viel zu berichten, außer das alles wieder in bester Ordnung war. Die Vorträge: Durch die Bank waren die Vorträge wieder sehr interessant. Daher noch einmal mein Dank an die Referenten. Der Erkenntnisgewinn war für mich aber nicht so groß, wie im letzten Jahr. Dies liegt aber nicht an den Vortragenden, sondern viel mehr daran, dass ich letztes Jahr noch recht frisch im Thema Symfony war und seitdem einige Erfahrungen sammeln konnte. Es wird immer auf solchen Camps die absoluten Experten geben, aber meines Erachtens sollen die Camps auch weiterhin für Anfänger und weniger versierte Leute attraktiv bleiben. Dies und das: Ich musste leider feststellen, dass meine Digitalkamera (Canon Digi-Ixus 500) seinen Geist aufgegeben hat. Jedenfalls gibt es weder ein Vorschaubild auf dem Display, noch etwas anderes als ein verrauschtes Schwarz als Bild, wenn man trotzdem auf den Auslöser drückt. Ich werde mir also eine neue Knipse zulegen müssen Und ansonsten gab es das eine oder andere Auto, welches aufgrund des vielen Regens in der aufgeweichten Wiese, die als Parkplatz diente, stecken geblieben ist. Dieses Schicksal ist mir zum Glück erspart geblieben und auch die “Glückspilze” wurden von freiwilligen Helfern zügig aus dem Schlamm gezogen geschoben. Zusammenfassung: Es hat wieder viel Spaß gemacht und als ich gestern abend wieder zu Hause war auch ziemlich im Eimer. Aber eines ist schon heute klar: Nächstes Jahr bin ich wieder dabei. Und an dieser Stelle auch eine großes Lob an die Jungs von DOP, die das Camp wieder vorzüglich organisiert haben! Heute vormittag hielt direkt nach der Begrüßung durch die Gastgeber von DOP Fabien seine ersten beiden Vorträge: Die (neuen) Möglichkeiten in Symfony zur Erstellung von Anwendungen, die REST unterstützen. Die weitere Entwicklung von Symfony auch über die Version 1.2 hinaus. Hier ging Fabien besonders aufdie Dependency Injection (Container) ein. Software-Wahnsinn Neues vom alltäglichen Wahnsinn (nicht nur) der Software-Technik « Google Street View in Köln (2 1/2): Der gedruckte Artikel des Kölner Stadtanzeigers Symfony-Camp 2008 (I) » Ingo goes to Symfony Camp 2008 (II) Wie vor ein paar tagen schon berichtet ist es morgen soweit: Ich fahre zum diesjährigen Symfony Camp. Ich bin schon sehr gespannt auf die verschiedenen Vorträge. Übernachten werden Rene und ich auch dieses Jahr wieder im Bed & Breakfast “Kleinhoolhorst“. Die Pension war auch letztes Jahr schon unsere Herberge während des Camps. Für den Preis von 32 Euro pro Nacht und Person (zzgl. 4 Euro Extra-Pauschale, weil wir nur eine Nacht bleiben) leg ich mich nicht unbedingt ins Zelt Vor allem, wenn ich am nächsten Morgen fit sein möchte. Eine Sache ist auch anzumerken: Die Website unserer Unterkunft ist zwar weiter (vor allem der englische Teil) ausgebaut worden, präsentiert sich allerdings immer noch im Charme – nun ja – der ausgehenden neunziger Jahre. (Wer einen Blick in Quellcode der Startseite wirft, der wird erkennen, dass hier M$ Word als “Webdesign-Werkzeug” zum Einsatz kam). Egal – alle wichtigen Informationen kann man der Site entnehmen… Ich werde wieder versuchen, ein wenig vom Camp direkt zu berichten. Es wird zwar nicht live, sondern etwas zeitversetzt geschehen, aber ich will den Daheimgebliebenen ein wenig von der Atmosphäre und den Inhalten berichten. Software-Wahnsinn Neues vom alltäglichen Wahnsinn (nicht nur) der Software-Technik « Ingo goes to Symfony Camp 2008 Google Street View in Köln (2 1/2): Der gedruckte Artikel des Kölner Stadtanzeigers » Google Street View in Köln (2) Nachdem ich vor knapp zwei Wochen hier bereits berichtet habe, dass ich ein Fahrzeug von Google mit dem “Street View-typischen” Kameramast in Höhe des Autobahnkreuzes Köln-Ost gesichtet habe, schreibt auch der Kölner Stadtanzeiger über dieses Thema. Was an und für sich erfreulich ist, ist auf den zweiten Blick nicht mehr so toll. Denn der Autor Tim Stinauer scheint die Story recht schnell zusammen “genagelt” zu haben. Beispiele? Gerne: Ein Zitat im Artikel lautet: „Habe eben einen schwarzen Opel am Autobahnkreuz Köln-Ost beobachtet“, meldet einer. Den einzigen Hinweis, dass über die Google-Fahrzeuge am AK Köln-Ost berichtet wurde, ist mein o.g. Posting vom 14.8.2008. Daher darf ich ausgehen, dass hier ich wohl zitiert werde. Ansonsten bitte in indirekter Rede. Das sollte eigentlich schon jeder Schülerzeitungs-Schreiber beherrschen! Noch ein Schnitzer gefällig? Bitte sehr: In Internetforen berichten Kölner, wo ihnen die seltsamen Fahrzeuge zuletzt aufgefallen sind. Dann folgt noch ein Satz und dann das oben zitierte falsche Zitat. Seit wann sind Blogs “Internetforen”? Aber anscheinend muss man es im sog. “Qualitätsjournalismus” nicht immer so genau nehmen. Schließlich erscheint im Dumont-Verlag neben dem KStA auch das Boulevard-Blatt, das mehr als vier Buchstaben im Titel trägt. Ich gehe daher davon aus, dass der Autor in keinem einzigen Internetforum war, sondern einfach die ersten Treffer von Google genommen hat und dies sind halt alles Blogs. inkl. dem Google Watch Blog. Dieses Blog ist NOFOLLOW-frei! Software-Wahnsinn Neues vom alltäglichen Wahnsinn (nicht nur) der Software-Technik « Level-1 Cache in der Küche Kaffee-RFC » Google Street View auch in Köln? Anscheinend ist Google jetzt auch in Köln unterwegs, um für Street View Aufnahmen zu machen. Denn eben entdeckte ich einen schwarzen Opel, der auch eindeutig mit Google Streetview-Aufklebern an der C-Säule gekennzeichnet war. Der Wagen fuhr am Autobahnkreuz Köln-Ost auf die A4 Richtung Olpe auf, während ich auf gleicher Höhe war (deshalb konnte ich auch die C-Säule sehen). Ich habe mich später sogar überholen lassen, da ich an der Abfahrt Refrath von der Autobahn abfahren musste. Das Google-Fahrzeug fuhr jedoch weiter in Fahrtrichtung Olpe. Da ich kein Kamera-Handy habe und auch keine Digital-Kamera dabei hatte, gibt es leider keine Bilder. Wer jedoch sehen möchte, wie die Google-Fahrzeuge aussehen, der kann sich die Bilderstrecke zum Spiegel Online-Artikel über die Street View in Deutschland anschauen. Software: 6 Questions to Ask Yourself When Deciding to Build or Buy

A common dilemma of many tech managers and businesses in general is when presented with a business problem, do you build your own software or do you buy? For some companies, this is an easy answer. Some development teams are not equipped with the skills to build a particular tool or product. Other companies just do not have any budget available for the product needed, but do have ample resources to work on development. But for the teams and situations that fall in that middle or gray area, what do you do? So, how do you decide to build or buy? Through my experiences I have compiled a short list of questions you need to ask yourself as a technology manager. Do I have a budget to buy this product? – If not, the answer has been made for you. You will need to build a product that does the task, or at least can hold you off until there are available funds for purchase. Beware of the trap of building a ‘good enough’ product that then stays long past its shelf life. Can my team build this? – This question has a couple of things to consider. Does your team have the skillets to build the product. Development teams have roles, and sometimes its obvious. For example a web team that builds games is just not going to build a billing system for you. Second, do you have the available resources and time? You may have the talent, but will you be able to set aside the right talent for the time required? They may be needed elsewhere. Does developing in house cost me in other ways? – Once again this speaks to your talent base. Maybe you can put a developer on this application for the time required, but are you missing out on future development opportunities? Is this project so far from their original skills and desires that you will diminish team morale? Less tangible than cost, these are still important to consider. Will the commercial software suit my needs? – My experience has been that many products have a set fee, but then you need to factor in the additional cost of customizations or additions that will suit your business needs. Or you think you can get away with a basic implementation, but soon need to upgrade, incurring additional costs. Or if you are paying for a subscription model, there may come a time when this may not be cost effective anymore. What will the cost be to build? – Again there are a couple of things to look at here. First, how many development hours will a project take? To get a good assessment, you need to be skilled at creating project estimates. If done incorrectly you can end up in a losing proposition. Ask yourself, does your company have a history of feature creep? If so, this project will inevitably take much longer than originally thought. Finally, what is your possible productivity loss? Does putting 2 developers on a six month project keep you from developing a new tool that can be monetized? As Opportunity costs are just as important as accounting cost. Could this be outsourced? – Sometimes the solution is not to build in house, or buy, but rather to have a custom application developed for you. It has been my direct experience that a lot of outsourced code, while possibly cheaper initially has cost more to grow over time. Digging through lines of code to fix bugs or to add a feature ends up wasting a lot of time. If you expect the contracting company to support the product, make sure they have been around awhile, and that you feel confident they will be there in the future. Also make sure their business model allows for incremental updates and support. Many consulting teams work on building and deploying full tools, and are not interested incremental additions. I have to admit with the increased amount of opensource code in the community and advanced APIs to work with, I tend to build. We can usually find a good opensource product, edit and grow it for our needs, and save a lot of time and headaches. Or we buy a small commercial component that takes care of some aspect of the tool that we could/should not build, then build around that component. Do you have similar issues? AVG Anti Virus software Customer Service Nightmare

As many of my friends on stompernet.com have recommended using AVG anti-virus software I decided to try this over the popular but system hog Norton. For the very first day of the free 30 day trial of the AVG software, I have tried to purchase the full version to no success.  The first day I downloaded the software and filled out the form to purchase and handed over my American Express.  Two days later I got an email saying that the transaction did not go through.  Okay.  Maybe American Express did not let it go through as they are sometimes very strict about charges on the internet due to protecting their customers from fraudulent charges.  Instead of calling American Express to figure it out, I pulled out the Mastercard.  Two days later same email.  Transaction could not go through.  Maybe their system is down?  Let’s wait and try again later.  A few weeks pass and I try again this time via paypal.  No luck.  Two days later another email.  Try a fourth time.  Still no luck.  Finally I send an email explaining that I cannot purchase their software and the response I get indicates that their customer service people either can’t or don’t want to read English.  No, AVG, you are not going to find my order number as I can’t place an order!  If you are listening AVG, please fix your order processing system before I have to purchase Norton! ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Dear Nicole, Thank you for your email.
