That being the case I set about to research, review and share some alternatives to the traditional Lorem Ipsum generator. I found that there are a lot of great alternatives to the standard lorem ipsum dummy text. Below I’ve reviewed and provided a quick overview of more than a dozen filler text related resources and generators. 1 Blind Text Generator www.blindtextgenerator.com The Blind Text Generator tool is robust and feature rich providing user with a few unique features not seen on most other filler text generators. A number of languages to select from and options to indicate how many words/characters/paragraphs to render are just the beginning. There are a bunch of ‘Advanced options’ which allow users to style their text. These changes are rendered on-the-fly, and the CSS is generated in addition to the filler text. Modify the font, font weight, height, color style, alignment, line height, column width and more! 2 Adhesion Text www.adhesiontext.com/ Adhesion Text is a dynamic text generation tool that it allows you to introduce which characters you want included in your filler text. You can select to have basic punctuation inserted randomly, forced sentence case(first letter of new sentence capitalized), or all upper case. This filler text generator can render dummy text in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Cyrillic, Greek and Arabic! 3 Lorem Ipsum Info www.lorem-ipsum.info/generator3 This Lorem Ipsum generator offers a number of customizable options including parameters for the number of paragraphs or words to generate, inclusion of punctuation, and output in plain text or HTML. In addition to standard lorem ipsum, this text generator can generate filler text in several languages including Spanish, Cyrillic, leet speak, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and believe it or not even Morse code. 4 Duck Island Greeking Machine www.duckisland.com/GreekMachine.asp This is a fun little filler text option that offers some interestingly flavored dummy text including classic Latin, hillbilly, Matrix, marketing speak, metropolitain, pseudo German, and techno babble. Options are limited beyond that to outputting the rendered filler text in plain text or HTML format. 5 HintPlus Lorem Ipsum Alternate www.hintplus.com/alterlorem.php This filler text tool is a simple alternative to standard lorem ipsum with only a few customizable options. Limited options include the number of words/paragraphs and the option to include an H1 header. If you’re looking for a simple, streamlined alternative, this might do the trick. 6 Malevole Dummy Text Generator www.malevole.com/mv/misc/text/ This is an extremely simple dummy text generator. It produces randomized English verbiage broken out into as many paragraphs as the user has indicated in the options. This is a really, really simple alternative to the same old Lorem Ipsum. 7 Lindquist Filler Text Generator www.lindquist.dk/tools/LorumIpsumGenerator.asp Another of the very simple filler text generators, the Lindquist.dk tool allows you to select how many sentences to produce and adds a ‘complexity’ option to the sentence, which randomizes and increases the amount of filler content generated. In an interesting twist, besides Lorem Ipsum you can choose to generate random leet speak or content pulled from the Beatles songs or Shakespeare’s sonnets. 8 Cameron Creative Filler Text www.cameroncreative.com/filler-text.html Cameron Creative has this interesting filler text page with easy to copy & past bodies of pre generated filler copy. In addition to standard Lorem Ipsum, some of the interesting flavors of filler text available at Cameron Creative include Gibberish (techno speak/corporate babble), fake binary code (0011101001001110), and postmodern gibberish (”..Bataille’s analysis of predialectic objectivism holds that culture is used in the service of archaic, sexist perceptions of art…”) 9 Perbang Lorem Ipsum Generator www.lorem-ipsum.perbang.dk This little gem out of Denmark generates lorem ipsum filler text customizable by a number of options to make the output more like real world content. These options include selection of the number of words, sentence or paragraphs, the relative length of sentences, and paragraphs, and the ability to render the filler text as a lit or in HTML body format. 10 TypeTester Filler Text & CSS Tool www.typetester.org TypeTester is really more of a CSS style generator, but it generates styled filler text (lorem ipsum). Compare various styles, make changes to the fonts, sizes, colors and other settings and watch the changes take effect on the fly. This is a great tool for when you need a body of filler text, but also want to explore some creative ways to display this text after it’s rendered. 11 Random Text Generator www.randomtextgenerator.com This is a really simple gibberish generator rendering faux text in English, Latin, Greek, German, French, Spanish, Italian Dutch and more! With limited settings it’s nice for a change, but not very robust. 12 Filler Text Dot Com www.fillertext.com FillerText.com provides a really, really simple filler copy generator. The number of characters, words or paragraphs is determined by a dynamic slider bar. The generated filler text is automatically copies into your clipboard on-the-fly. This is another very simple alternative to the more robust tools discussed. 13 Lipsum Lorem Ipsum Generator www.lipsum.com I’ve talked at length about this generator which is probably the most popular tool, and definitely the most linked to tool I see around the web. It’s a very simple yet valuable tool and the site itself provides quite a bit of interesting information about the origins, history and changes to the lorem ipsum dummy text over the years. 14 Dummy Text Generator Add-on for Firefox addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2064 I posted about the Dummy Text Generator for Firefox on August 8th - Using Lorem Ipsum rendered from Lipsum.com, this Firefox add-on allows you to generate place holder content on the fly from any page on the internet. With a few mouse clicks you can generate dozens of paragraphs of lorem ipsum dummy text including punctuation and sentence break capitalization for more of a real world feel to the generated content. 15 Wikipedia on Lorem Ipsum Filler Text en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorem_ipsum “Where text is visible in a document, people tend to focus on the textual content rather than upon overall presentation, so publishers use lorem ipsum when displaying a typeface or design in order to direct the focus to presentation.” Some Additional Filler Text & Dummy Test Tools Here are a few tools that didn’t make our reviewed list of resources, but may still come in handy in the right situation or for the right project. LoremIpsum.de A Quick-n-dirty lorem ispum generator whose only option is to regulate the number of words generated. LoremIpsum.net Not a generator as much as a pre-formated block of Lorem Ipsum tossed on a web page with a pretty clean template. Lipsum.ro Simple Lorem Ipsum generator with control over the number of characters, words or paragraphs. MediaZeal Lorem Ipsum Generator Script Although this is a really, really simple dummy content generator, I included it since you can actually copy the tools code and post it on your own site. Ad Intelligence Beta In Microsoft’s own words, Ad Intelligence “Helps you choose the right keywords to target the right audience, capture the right customer and maximize your marketing campaign ROI” With it’s seamless integration into Excel 2007, the add-in can collect and aggregate raw data on thousands of keywords/keyphrases into intelligent, actionable reports in seconds and all with just a few mouse clicks. The results can then be integrated quickly and cleanly into documents, deliverables & client/customer facing reports. If I sound ridiculously impressed it’s because I am. With over 7 years of internet marketing & website optimizing efforts under my belt I’ve tried just about every keyword research tool the industry has put on the table (not to mention the tools that never met the scrutiny of public consumption). I have never been more impressed with a keyword research tool, but enough raving, let’s check out the details and let you judge for yourself! What is Ad intelligence? Ad Intelligence is a free, simple-to-use plug-in/add-in for Microsoft Excel 2007 that introduces an additional tab with special SEO/SEM related functions to the Excel 2007 ribbon. The tab features several differrnt algoriths/tools to help build and expand targeted keyword lists for paid and natural campaign optimization. The tools provide inciteful data beyond simple keyword search volume, to help you plan keyword strategy based on a wide range of attributes, allowing you to determine keyword value by a site/vertical relevance, historical cost, opportunity (daily/monthly search volume) and more! Ad intelligence results are absolute numbers for daily & monthly data, and return results on exact search query matches (no jumbled/scrambled data as with some other tools). The tool itself is surprisingly quick, for me it returned 50 semantic results for 25 phrases in under 30 seconds and it’s simple to use - I literally copy/pasted a list of phrases from another project and clicked an icon, after a few second the results were generated ordered and I was moving on to my next task. One of the things that should be nice about this tool is that Microsfot has stated they are committed to being transparent about their methodology and sources. many tools of the past seemed to operate out of a magic ‘Black Box’, or have such complex, confusing methodologies that it was often difficult to trust the numbers you were recieving. Where does the data come from? Following their stated commitment to “methodological transparency and clarity” Microsoft has outlined the basics of how the data is collected and where it comes from. Data for the tools results comes both from the Live.com index and adCenter. Data is collected & structured using the Keyword Services Platform (KSP). The KSP is more than the infrastructure for this specific tool. It is a server platform that provides a set of intelligent, keyword related web services as an infrastructure for developers to build tweaks and applications. I’m no developer so some of this passes over my head, but it sounds as though the Ad Intelligence plug-in is only the beginning of what is possible considering the robust systems and structures built into the KSP and Live database. With developer tools and open API access, a developer’s imagination might be his only limit. The Microsoft team openly discussed one piece of the ‘algorithm puzzle’ that I found most interesting - ”Microsoft AdLabs has been working for several years on semantic research, the results can really be tapped via the Ad Intelligence add-in” - adding fuel to the ongoing discussions about the importance of ’indirect semantic relevancy’. AdLabs’ semantic research really comes into play on one of the keyword research tool discussed later. The Ad Intelligence Keyword Wizard [singlepic=99,450,,,] While each of the reports/tools can be ran independently, the Ad intelligence Keyword Wizard can help walk you through setting up and running most of Ad Intelligence’s core features. A great way to familiarize yourself with many of the benefits and features of the Ad Intelligence add-in, the wizard takes you on a step-by-step walk-through of the core tools, options providing you with some great basic reports. The tool allows you to generate expanded keyword lists and associated search volume, average cost & trending data from… a simple list of terms, existing URLs, and/or from a specified vertical. The wizard wraps up those tools most likely to be used often by marketers and wraps them into a sinlge step-by-step process for quick & easy access. Keyword Extraction [singlepic=101,450,,,] Build A Keyword List Relevant to a Specific URL Wondering which page to use for your paid media landing page? Trying to optimize a page around it’s current strengths? The Keyword Extraction tool will crawl specified URLs and return keywords that the Live.com algorithm deems relevant to a specific URL. I can imagine some fairly strategic uses for this tool, but right out of the gate it’s perfect for… [singlepic=100,145,,,] Outlining keyword theme relevancy for possible landing pages Outlining opportunities for additional content based on keyword/page relevancy The default settings provide 15 keywords per URL , but this can be adjusted to as any as 100 phrases per URL, with a maximum of 200 URLs per query. One other interesting things about this is that the data is collected ‘on-demand’ indicating that it isn’t cached or indexed data. It wasn’t 100% clear if the Live.com spider is called to recrawl newly revised pages to provide updated semantically relevant suggestions or wether it is based on some parallel semantic index - but that’s something I’ll be watching out for - if the former were true, it could be an amazing tool for trial & error optimization/experimentation. Keyword Suggestion Campaign Association [singlepic=103,450,,,] Based on anonymous adCenter data, this algo/tool will return keywords that are relevant to your core terms based on what has been used in various paid media campaigns that also included your core terms. This could be great for… [singlepic=106,150,,,] Researching & building out keyword lists quickly Expanding target phrase suggestions for possible optimization in paid or natural campaigns Research & review the competitive landscape (although the advertisers remain anonymous) By default this tool returns a 50 campaign related keywords ( if there are 50 relevant keywords available), this can be adjusted to accommodate more aggressive or targeted build-outs. It’s important to note that this particular data is only updated quarterly. Keyword Suggestion Contained [singlepic=105,450,,,] [singlepic=104,150,,,] A great iteration of a common keyword research tool, this built-in tool returns suggested keywords that contain the core term you have entered (similar to Overture, KeywordDiscovery, WordTracker etc) This is perfect for… Building lists of relevant keywords Building out expanded lists by running the tool again on it’s own result set By default results return 50 keywords with a confidence level of 0.2, once again these parameters can be adjusted to suit your needs. The ‘confidence level’ is an interesting qualifier which reminds me a bit of Google PageRank (or even for you old school SEOers - Yahoo WebRank) in that it acts as an indicator of how certain the algorithm is that a particular word is relevant to your content/selected phrases - the higher the number the higher the relevancy certainty. Returns ACTUAL Phrase results One of my favorite features of this tool (in fact the entire add-in) is that this keyword research tool returns results for the EXACT phrase, not some mixed up jumbled aggregate of variations of a phrase (IE “used cars” and “cars used” are returned as different phrases - unlike Overture results where “Los Angeles Car Rental” would become “Angeles Car Los Rental”. Once again, this data is updated quarterly. Keyword Suggestion Similarity [singlepic=102,450,,,] Taking advantage of the AdLabs semantic index based on years of semantic research this built-in tool suggests keywords based on their semantic similarity to your core phrases.  Using this feature you can build out more intelligent keyword lists that include not only directly related phrases

Noch vor wenigen Jahren, war das bauen einer Webseite, etwas, das nur Spezialisten erledigen konnten. Hochkomplizierte html und php codes waren notwenig um Texte und Bilder richtig im internet darzustellen. Heut sieht das etwas anders aus! Seit Content Management Systeme wie Joomla und Wordpress den Markt beherrschen, kann jeder der sich etwas Mühe gibt die Anleitung zu lesen, in kürzester Zeit einen eigen Webseite oder einen Wordpress Blog bauen. Jedermann kann also seine Produkte und Dienstleistungen relativ einfach und in brauchbarer Zeit einem breiten Publikum vorstellen. Das Kunststück des internet marketing Erfolges, liegt also heute nicht mehr darin eine Website zu haben, sondern: Die Webseite in den Suchmaschinen gut für die richtigen Suchbegriffe zu platzieren, und… das geografisch richtige Zielpublikum anzusprechen. Das Suchverhalten von internet surfern ist vielen Dingen National verschieden! Wenn ich zum Beispiel wissen will, in welchem Land ich am meisten Werbung schalten muss um mehr Publikum auf meine Webseiten zu bringen und… und ich dieses dann auch umsetzen kann, benutze ich das Google Trends Tool, indem ich einige Möglichkeiten miteinander vergleiche. Hier ein Beispiel, das ich schon selbst ausprobiert habe. Die ersten drei Grafiken zeigen den deutschprachigen Raum, angeführt von der Schweiz und Österreich. AUFGEPASST! – Ganz unten in der Mitte ist KEINE Grafik, das Werkzeug funktioniert! Viel Spass beim ausprobieren. Bei diesem yweiten Satz an Grafiken kann man deutlich den Trend von anderen Ländern sehen. Wenn ich nun der Wirtschafskrise einen auswischen will, werde ich mich wohl mit meiner werbung auf den deutschsprachigen Raum konzentrieren. Das kann im Hinblick auf diese Resultate keinesfalls verkehrt sein. Wenn man nun nicht unbedingt gleich selber eine deutschsprachige Seite bauen will, sollte man auf jedenfall auf deutschsprachigen Webseiten, wie dem Koh Tao Magazin und anderen ähnlichgut platzierten Webseiten werben. Lau UPDATE – 12th April 2009 After much consideration, I’ve decided to only display and approve EC credit purchased Ads on this blog. I felt it was fairer and I wanted to go back to the basic of what made Entrecard such an internet phenomenon in the first place. I will consider paid ads once the system is perfected or when they introduce dual widget but until then my EC widget shall remain paid ads free. The blogsphere is buzzing the last few days due to the new paid ads feature released by the Entrecard Blogging Network system. Earlier it was all about helping bloggers to network and gain exposure to our blogs but recently they launched the Entrecard Ad Network where advertisers can purchase 125×125 ads space for $ 0.02 CPC or $0.30 CPM during the beta stage. Now for those of you who are familiar with Entrecard, this is quite a huge feature but personally I am not sure if it is going to be good for the Entrecard community . Reason being the system is in my opinion quite complex and doesn’t provide any outright or clearcut benefits to it’s members although it promises 75% of all revenue back to the members . The explanation made by Graham on their official blog can be quite hard to fathom so I shall break down the main points here which I hope will be easier to comprehend: 1] New Ads System will rotate 50% of the time while the normal credit purchased ads will be displayed for the other 50%.  So basically overnight those purchasing ads using EC credits will only get half of the normal exposure. 2] Bloggers will NOT receive any direct compensation or credits for accepting ads. The whole idea is to normalize the Entrecard credit in the market. So as Graham mentioned; by accepting ads, you investing in the Entrecard economy and also help to increase the value of EC Credits. 3] Bloggers can Cash Out their EC Credits which will be launched this Saturday (11th Apr 2009) but their value is not yet determined although it might return to the earlier value of $15.00 per 1,000 EC Credits or even more depending on the economy. 4] Bloggers are encouraged to utilize the ‘Market’ to buy and sell their services as a way to improve EC Credit channel of usage. 5] Bloggers CAN filter the type of paid ads from their dashboard. 6] Paid Ads will run for the duration set by the Advertisers or when their credit runs out. This means bloggers have to be careful in accepting paid ads as they will probably run for long period of time . 7] In the near future they might introduce multiple ads grid widget to display both paid and credit purchased ads. That’s about it in a nutshell. Here on the other hand is the summary by Graham : “Short and brief description. We are selling advertising across the network to anyone who wants to buy, permitted they adhere to these guidelines. With that money, 25% goes to us to help keep us online and developing new features. The other 75% will go to Entrecard members who want to turn their credits into cash. This will deflate the economy, make credits more valuable, and lead to lots of exciting new products and services in the market. By approving paid ads, you are investing in the Entrecard economy.” All in all I feel it is a good idea but perhaps the execution was not right when they introduced this system several days ago. A lot of bloggers like myself were confused especially suddenly seeing dozens of paid ads awaiting for approval in our dashboard. There are still some loopholes which I have mentioned in the Entrecard blog post but I guess only time will tell if this is going to be a runaway success. One thing for sure is that casual Entrecard members will definitely lose out with this system if we’re looking at exposure vs credits earned ratio especially for those with relatively popular blog with moderate or high traffic. Posted by Daryl W.T. Lau This is a very interesting report that was published on wcco.com several days ago. It explores the interesting question of whether bloggers really do make a living just from their blogs. It is a very valid question since there are over an estimated 20million blogs online today. This news report was initiated due to more than 500,000 bloggers said their primary source of income derives from their blogs. Obviously there are a small amount of bloggers make a decent income by blogging especially the well-known ones but I personally doubt that number is close to 500,000. Even for myself, what I earn isn’t enough to consider it as my main income . Perhaps for bloggers from countries where their currency works to their advantage , this would make much more sense. Lau I am constantly looking into cost effective ways to market my blogs and sites. When I found out about Adgitize , I joined the network with 2 of my blogs and traffic did increase a little while I also enjoyed finding some very interesting blogs as well. I explored the site and found out that advertising square ads (125×125) through the network is relatively cheap, so I thought of giving it a try. Their advertising rates are as follows: USD 7.00 – 7 Day Square Banner Ad USD 10.00 – 14 Day Square Banner Ad USD 14.00 – One Month Square Banner Ad USD 36.00 – Page Peel Ad As you can see it is reasonably priced, especially for the one month duration. The question then lies in exactly how effective will the advertising be. So I placed an ad back in early February for a brand new webmaster content aggregator site of mine for one month duration. After completion, I was very happy with the results but decided to try again by advertising 2 blogs of mine to properly gauge just how effective Adgitize is as an advertising channel. Well my 2nd ad has just completed it’s one month duration and the results is even better than my 1st campaign whereas my 3rd ad is still running with about 9 days left. This is probably due to more bloggers joining the Adgitize network. Anyways here are the stats screenshot for your perusal: So if you have some extra cash to invest in promoting your blog or website which appeal to bloggers, then I highly recommend giving Adgitize a try. There are several well known platform which remunerate product reviewers but today we are going to be looking at ComparedBy.Us , the new paid review portal. The system deployed is pretty standard whereby reviewers get paid based on the popularity of the product, review length and overall quality of the review itself. In ComparedBy.us, reviewers will USD 1.00 for above 1,000 characters review and USD 0.25 for reviews between 250 to 1,000 characters. This is to justify their emphasis on the quality of reviews. Upon joining, you will enjoy a review bonus upon approval of your very first product review.
