Me fiz essa pergunta e achei difícil respondê-la.
Tja, nun könnte es also wirklich weitergehen.

Today’s Gizmos, Gadgets & Tech No geek-speak here, and no bikinis. Home About Advertisers Ipod Touch Cover Made From Recycled Material     I am a big fan of recycling so when Recover sent me an Ipod Touch cover made entirely from recycled plastic, I was delighted to review it. What I don’t like about the feel of the Ipod Touch is the fact that it is very slippery. I’d really hate to drop it. This cover, allows me to handle my Ipod Touch with confidence. Because the material in the cover feels like rubber it not only makes it easier to hold, but it protects the Ipod shell as well. It’s a bonus that the cover is eco-friendly, and when you purchase a cover, Recover will plant a tree for you! The product is very reasonably priced and they make covers for the Ipod Nano as well. The Arbor Day Special was timely viewing for me. This is partially due to my recent attempts to adopt a more “green” lifestyle for the Gartner clan. It seems lately I have been acutely aware of how much waste my family of seven puts out and  I have been trying to reduce our consumption of products with excessive, wasteful packaging. Not only have I been trying to reduce our output of weekly waste we put out on the curb, but we have been working on making our house more energy efficient. We are currently in the process of getting some work done to make our 1920’s built, incredibly drafty home energy efficient- which isn’t easy if you can imagine. Not only are we working on updating various parts of our home inside and out, but I am learning news ways to clean my home without relying on an arsenal of expensive chemicals that are polluting the inside air. This spring I plan on planting more flowers and a larger vegetable garden. I also might put in a few trees and shrubs. Sometime soon if times permits, I am going to put in a nature friendly, backyard pond. Besides adopting a greener lifestyle, I have been trying to simplify my life with less clutter. I have been getting rid of material goods I don’t need and time wasters online and offline. Lately I feel like a breath of fresh air has come back into my life by making these changes. Adopting these changes hasn’t been easy, old habits die hard. Too there have been some humorous mishaps along the way and it all sort of reminds me of the Peanuts gang celebrating their first Arbor Day. Without entirely giving it all away- I’ll give you the run down in case you have never seen it. Charlie Brown’s little sister is humiliated in class when she wrongly answers the question “What is Arbor Day.” With the help of Linus, she discovers the history of Arbor Day. Soon Sally and Lucy who takes over, hatch a plan to create a beautiful Arbor Day project. Lucy tells Charlie Brown, that she plans on doing the preseason upkeep on Charlie Brown’s ball field. Charlie Brown’s whole baseball team shows up to contribute some muscle. Here Snoopy and Woodstock are prepping the dirt by raking. The finished Arbor Day project is beautiful… there’s only one problem. They planted the project in Charlie Brown’s baseball feild! A shocked Charlie Brown faints when he sees his beloved ball feild for the first time. The most shocking feature however is the large tree growing in the middle of his pitcher’s mound. Charlie Brown makes a go of playing Peppermint Patty’s team in his new field/Victory Garden. They outfit a scarecrow with a glove and make other adjustments that give them an advantage. For the first time ever, it looks like Charlie Brown may win a ball game. Does Charlie Brown’s team win, will Lucy get kissed by Schroeder? I have posted the last ten minutes of It’s Arbor Day Charlie Brown below courtesy of YouTube. Enjoy and Happy Arbor Day. (Arbor Day 2009 is Friday, April 24th.) // Living Green Like Grandma By Lori Boatfield, for Revive your Life Photo by deserthoneybee As energy costs continue to rise and the sources for that energy dwindle, we search for ways to conserve. When thinking of the future, we can use the past as a guide. I’m 34 years old and I think my grandparents’ generation knew a thing or two about conservation. They raised seven children, most of them born during the Great Depression. Though my mother, the youngest, was born in 1947, when the depression had technically ended, her family never had much in terms of material possessions. They lived “out in the country” as I still think of it. My grandfather worked second shift at a steel manufacturing plant. With no car, he either walked or caught a ride (carpooled) the twenty-some miles there. During the day, he farmed - growing cotton and vegetables, and raising livestock on a small scale. My grandmother never held a job outside the home, despite earning a teaching degree, but with a houseful of children and farm chores, she had plenty of work to do. I like to call her the queen of conservation. My mother fondly remembers her as a packrat. Food for Thought Whether we call them packrats or conservationists, we can learn green living lessons from their lifestyle. My grandparent’s farm sustained them in most every way. The animals provided meat, milk and lard (ugh!). The produce was home grown and canned to last. While it isn’t feasible for most of us to raise livestock at home, we can still apply some of the farming principles. A small vegetable garden can be surprisingly prolific. You may find you have a bounty for your family with some to spare and share. By simply canning or freezing, you can enjoy the “fruits” of your labor all year long. Even if your space is limited to exclude a vegetable garden, herbs can be grown and easily maintained in a sunny windowsill. My friend makes pesto from her abundant basil. You may also find these home-grown practices benefit your budget, because 1) growing your own is less expensive, and 2) home canned vegetables and fruits make wonderful gifts. Consider the impact of growing a garden on the environment: No disposable packaging is used Less fuel is used overall since there’s no need for transporting Less emission/pollution from transport Cleaner air due to more trees and green plants Baby steps to get you started: Buying produce at a local farmers market cuts down on disposable packaging as well as fuel and emissions (not to mention stimulating your local economy). Try planting herbs in small containers in a windowsill or sunroom. Most herbs are fairly hardy and need little care. Dispose of the Throwaway Mentality My brother-in-law recently visited his grandparents and inspired this piece. He reached for the aluminum foil to wrap leftovers, and found several loose pieces rolled neatly back onto the unused roll. The scraps had been carefully washed and dried and were ready for reuse. While I don’t sanction this particular type of recycling because I question the germ/bacteria factor, I find it inspires me to think of other recycling/reuse possibilities. Along with foil and disposable plastic cups (which she ran through the dishwasher), my grandmother was a wrapping paper recycler. She could make a roll of paper and a bag of bows last for years. We all knew not to crumple our Christmas paper at Grandma’s because she saved it. For her, wrapping paper was a luxury to be carefully guarded and conserved. The lesson we can learn is to be mindful of the things we toss into the trash. Many in my generation have a throw-away mentality because there’s always more at the store. I may be oversimplifying, but I’ve always taken for granted the disposable lifestyle: use paper plates, don’t wash dishes! My very favorite disposable is paper towels. While I find it difficult to curb my paper towel use (select-a-size helps), it’s easier than ever to be wise about what we throw away. When it comes to disposable, recycle EVERYTHING you can. If your town doesn’t have recycling pick up, chances are a nearby city does. So investigate their policies and receptacle locations, and drop off on your way to somewhere. I must confess, I sometimes find myself saving wrapping paper. If it’s a particularly pretty print, I unwrap carefully and put it aside. I cut the still-flat part out and use it for smaller packages. I also save gift bags and tissue paper. Intact tissue paper can be ironed on a low setting and voila, good as new. Maybe it’s genetic. Grandma would be proud. Baby steps to get you started: Cut down on the disposable items you use by using “real” plates and cups and investing in reusable grocery bags (buy one bag per shopping trip and soon you’ll have plenty). Some reusable grocery bags can be folded into small pouches for easy carrying in your handbag or glove compartment. Consider washable, reusable water/drink containers. your water is still convenient for on-the-go, but fewer plastic bottles wind up in landfills. Reuse individual hand-soap containers and buy the large bottles of soap for refilling. Use both sides of paper for notes, everyday printing projects, keeping score for Jeopardy, etc. Conserve as if You’re Carrying Buckets Until the 1960’s my grandparents got their water from a spring about 100 feet away from the house. They went down to the springhouse, which my mother tells me was always fraught with spiders, and brought the water up the hill by the bucket. Water for baths was heated on the stove (a wood-powered, pot-belly model until they bought a gas range in the 70’s). We can’t imagine carrying water to the house from afar. You can bet not a drop was wasted. And flushing the toilet, forget it. No need for flushing in the outhouse! Even after they got indoor plumbing, the conservative mind-set was still in place. We can learn to be mindful of our water use by imagining carrying 5 gallon buckets of water up a hill (what a work-out!) and going to the outhouse on cold winter nights. Baby steps to get you started: When it’s time to replace toilets, consider water conservation models. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Collect rain water for outdoor plant watering. If you use a sprinkler system for grass or shrubs, make sure it’s watering what you want to water, and not the driveway or the street. Consider installing a timer for your sprinklers so that watering is done at the most beneficial time of day (or night). Be vigilant about fixing household water leaks. Long-term, they can waste a considerable amount of water. Power Down, Save the Planet For my grandparents, electricity was a resource to be used carefully. My grandfather toiled all day on the farm while my grandmother had busy days of caring for house and family. With the exception of my grandfather, who went to his second job in the evening, the family went to bed quite early. Some contemporaries of theirs, according to my mother, turned in as soon as darkness fell. This was a wonderful way to conserve electricity and heat. The lights and television were off, and the fire was stoked to burn low until morning. We can learn to conserve from these practices in many ways. Baby steps to get you started: Turn off the power to and unplug any household item not in use, since an electrical charge continues to be drawn even when the power is off. To simplify unplugging, use power strips. Install a programmable thermostat so energy is conserved when the house is empty or while everyone’s asleep. Use ceiling fans to supplement the heating and cooling process. They should turn counterclockwise in the summer to circulate cooler air and clockwise in the winter to drive heated air back down into the room. I believe if my maternal grandparents were alive today, they would still be responsible citizens of the earth. With a little ingenuity, and a lot of practice, we can all be more responsible. Now, where are those gift bags? I have tissue paper to iron! home About Disclosure Policy Jesus healed me! subscribe to the RSS Feed iamhealed.net …and by His stripes we are healed. (Is. 53:5) Monday, August 17, 2009 Book Review: 20 Elements of Revival Posted by Kathi on March 12, 2009 I read lots of books (no mystery to regular readers of this blog). A few are terrible. Most are good, and a few are great. I’ve recommended a few books very highly. It is very, very rare that I recommend a book and say that everyone, simply everyone, MUST read it. Aside from the Bible, there’s maybe 2 or 3 other books that I’ve said this about. 20 Elements of Revival by John Burton is such a book. Let me say it again – everyone, simply everyone, MUST read it. Make it a priority. John writes, “The contention of this book is simple – the extreme manifest presence of God is the biblical norm for a New Testament believer.” The book is a step-by-step look at Acts 2 – the formation of the first church. On what other model should churches be built today? John contends, and I agree, that this is God’s way and therefore not only the best way, but the ONLY way! I’ve read a lot of material on church planting – most of which amounts to man’s formula for building a successful business endeavor, not for building a thriving fiery church! I’ve also read more than a few things about being open to the mighty move of the Holy Spirit. Much of what I’ve read focuses EITHER on orderly process OR on allowing God absolute freedom to move – not on both. (how often do we make the mistake of acting like “all things be done decently and in order” means “do nothing” as opposed to “do all things”?) John’s treatment of this subject accomplishes both. He outlines an orderly process for the purpose of allowing God absolute freedom to move – really, really move! I’ve talked about this before, but it bears repeating. When we are saved, we are literally indwelled by the Holy Spirit (see for example 2 Cor. 1:22). We have largely missed the ramifications of this!! God can’t be divided. We don’t each have a little drop or a tiny piece of the Holy Ghost. We have the fullness of God RESIDENT in us!  We are carriers of the manifest presence of Almighty God, everywhere we go! God is always up to something. He’s active! What’s more, He desires to do great exploits through us. He expects us to “occupy until He comes”. If we proceed from the central premise that the extreme manifest presence of God is the biblical norm and that we should (must!) experience Him in our daily lives, then it follows that we will be living lives of fiery passion and experiencing signs and wonders (Where God is, stuff happens!). People will take notice of what He’s doing! There’s a saying within churches that experience moves of God – “Forever ruined for the ordinary”. After we see God in action, we don’t want to settle for anything less!  The problem is, we DO settle for “less”. Sometimes this is due to bad or inadequate teaching (it’s a common misconception that miracles are rare, for example). Sometimes it’s because our focus is in the wrong place or because we allow ourselves to be distracted from His purposes. Sometimes it’s because revival is so costly and the status quo is so much easier to maintain. John is a House of Prayer (IHOP) guy and that’s very, very evident in his book. There are several 24/7 prayer movements active today but IHOP is probably the best known, most vocal, and best organized group. I became introduced to them through their 6am Daily Devotional broadcast on GodTV, and have studied quite a bit on the subject.  The whole concept of 24/7/365 prayer is incredible. And biblical. Jesus said that His house is a house of prayer – so why do we make it a house of everything else? Why is prayer looked at as a means to an end, and not as ministry unto God – as an incredible privilege of fellowship with Him? Why do we look at prayer as something we must do before doing something else and not as an intimate powerful encounter with the One we love? After reading this book I’m convinced that we’ve been trying to do church entirely backwards. We have 101 programs, each designed to bring a person deeper into relationship with God. We have small groups. We have Sunday school. We have youth group. Someday, we might get “there” if only we apply the right program. This is backwards! We should be daily in the house of prayer, getting fueled up and fired up, so that when we apply teaching, it’s instantly understood because it’s already been experienced. When we are in fellowship, God is openly in our midst. We minister from the overflow of the Holy Spirit’s action in our lives – not from a place of barrenness, trying to conjure Him up! A central theme of the book is also the concept of “City Church”. This is new to me, and I admit, fairly challenging. Of course we recognize that “Church” is the body of Christ, not the building we go to… but we still tend to look at “church” as being the one local church we are joined to. Although some are involved with multi-church efforts, usually within their denomination, it’s rare that churches would join city-wide for the sole purpose of building the Kingdom of God and bringing revival in their city!! There is such a spirit of competition amongst churches – that THEY alone must be the be-all and end-all and that no other church can do it better! Yet in Acts 2, we find the early church daily in the temple – in the house of prayer – and daily breaking bread from house to house. Why *can’t* we be like that in our cities? Why *can’t* we relinquish our ungodly desire to build our own kingdom? Why can’t we let leaders lead – why do “we” have to be the ones in charge? John suggests (as the Bible teaches) that there be apostolic leadership and that individual churches thrive within that authority structure. There would be a central house of prayer. Other churches would specialize… one might be a teaching center. Another might focus on healing. Others will focus on preaching revival, evangelism, and  salvations. Each church would highly specialize in what God has specifically called them to do. Each believer in each church would be full of the Holy Ghost and fire, would be equipped for ministry and leadership, and the outpouring of God in life after life after life will result in more and more people coming to Christ! And they in turn will encounter the radical grace and glory of God, become full of the Holy Ghost and fire, would be equipped for ministry and leadership, and the outpouring of God in life after life after life will result in more and more people coming to Christ! Isn’t that so much better than having groups of people just showing up on Sunday morning and Wednesday night? Here’s a quote – and a challenge – from Element 13 in the book (Holy Spirit & Power Encounters): Is the bar for each new believer high enough to ensure they understand the wild commitment that the Christian life demands? Radical difference from the “repeat these words after me” approach so many take to evangelism! Like I said – it’s rare that I recommend a book as highly as I’m recommending this one. Get it. Read it. Pray and be transformed!

We have been so Lazy!!! We have thoroughly been enjoying the last few weeks of summer and have been too Lazy to work on this blog.  Truth be told, we have been so Lazy that we didn’t even have any blogging material.  (Do you think my computer break has helped my leg?) But, alas, all good things must come to an end.  I have spent the last 2 weeks in Tulsa.  My parents and Big D’s parents live there.  My kids were going to Kanakuk in Missouri and so I stayed with my Mom while they were at camp.  We had a great visit!  The kids loved camp.  But, the reason for this post is to talk about all the food I have been eating!  Ugh!  It’s disgusting.  (As I write this I have sent Big D out for one last ice cream from Braum’s.  Any of you Okies will know what I mean!  We don’t have Braum’s in Texas.) During my two week stay in Tulsa I did reconnect with my former personal trainer.  She is the greatest!!  She is so encouraging, motivating and inspiring.  So, in between restaurants I would stop off and see her.  I’m sure she has wondered what has happened to  her sculpted piece of art (me) and how did it get so soft and mushy! She has generously offered to write me two workouts each week.  She will e-mail them to me and says I can share them with all you other Lazy Moms!  It’s like getting a personal trainer for free!  (Make sure you consult with your physician before starting any exercise program.)   She’s also going to send me her weekly menu of what she is eating!  So, as we get back to school, let’s also get back in shape!  Who’s with me?  Who will be my cyber workout buddy?? If you want to win a Lazy Mom’s Tote Bag to take to the gym with you, leave us a comment.  Tell us anything regarding your exercise routine.  Tell us you are already in shape.  Tell us you are going to work out with us.  Tell us there is no way in heck you are going to the gym!  You have until Saturday night at midnight to leave a comment!  Good luck! For those of you in Tulsa, you can go see Dawn in person at Body Definted Fitness!  It’s a great gym with lots of great trainers!

Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.Powered by WP Greet Box AdSense Earning = Impression-count x Click-though-rate x Cost-per-click x smart-pricing-factor. Impression count is basically referring to your traffic. It means the number of times AdSense block is displayed. Click-through-rate (CTR) is ratio of clicks per impressions. It can range from 0.1% to 30%, but most commonly around 1% to 10%. Cost-per-click (CPC) is the earning you get per click. While traditionally it refers to the amount advertisers pay for each click, it can also mean the amount publishers get for each click. Smart-pricing is AdSense method to determine how valuable clicks from your site is worth. If clicks on your site doesn’t provide good value to advertisers, e.g. from visitors’ geo-location that seldom translate to sales, you will only get a fraction of the supposed CPC. Apply for AdSense account via blogger.com for faster approval. Once you get your AdSense publisher code, you can put it any of your websites without requiring further approval. Read and reread Google AdSense Program Policies and Terms and Conditions. Don’t click on your own ads, or ask people to click, even if you are using proxies. Don’t use click-bots. Don’t encourage your visitors to click on ads. The only acceptable text is “Sponsored Links” and “Advertisements”. Don’t put your ads on objectionable material, e.g. adult sites, gambling sites, mp3, etc. Basically, don’t cheat AdSense. Google will catch you, sooner or later. Viewing your on website will not get you banned. Just make sure you don’t click on the ads. However, repeatedly reload your page to jack up page impressions can get you banned. When in doubt don’t hesitate to contact the AdSense team. They are very helpful. Choose a high paying niche without too much competition. Use Overture Bid Tool and Search Engine Keyword Tool to find suitable keyword. Consider signing-up for AdWords and create a mini campaign. It can help you to understand the working of AdSense. Target a specific audience. Get Google AdWords. Put your targeted-keyword on Page Title. Repeat the keywords in your content. Learn HTML. Put emphasis around your keywords by using HTML tags like <h1>…</h1>, <h2>…</h2>, <strong>…</strong>, <b>…</b>, e.g. <strong>AdSense Tips</strong> . Get domain name that contains your targeted keyword. Submit your website to directories for inclusion, e.g. dmoz.org, yahoo directories Submit your URL to search engines for crawling. Create and submit your sitemaps to Google Sitemap (sitemap.xml) and Yahoo (urllist.txt) Google is not the only search engine. Optimize for different engines as well. You are very likely to face less competition than in Google. Invest for original fresh content. Write or pay for contents regularly. Use copyscape.com to find content theft. You invest for your content. Don’t let it be taken by unscrupulous webmasters. Article marketing is one of the best way to deliver traffic to your site. Write and submit articles to article-submission sites. Include short summary and hyperlinks to your website in the author information box. Don’t use objectionable methods to draw visitors to your site; buying traffics, spyware, hidden-texts, page cloaking etc will get your AdSense account terminated. New visitors have higher chance to click on the ads than regular visitors, thus higher CTR (click-through rate). Regular visitors have higher chance to recommend your site to others. Search engines are where most of your new visitors come from. Learn a bit about Search Engine Optimization, or pay people to do it. Doing it yourself will save yourself from troubles created by not-so-honorable SEO (Search Engine Optimizer). Don’t create mirrors. These are sites with different URLs but same contents. It hurts search engine ranking. Its easier to create many websites with low earning than few websites with high earning. Forum generally have high impressions count, but very low CTR. 5 Tips to Keep your Website or Blog Present on the Search Engines DJ Francisco on April 27th, 2009 Take your blog to the top of the Search Engines As we all know, the economy is not in the best shape ever, however, if you do any type of marketing or blogging online, you know that your traffic to both your website and your blog has probably increased by about 25% overall this year. To me it seem that more and more brides are going online to search for their wedding vendors. Most still rely on the traditional word of mouth. However, I might even dare to say that the wedding vendor with only a website might win the sale over a wedding vendor with only a flier, brochure, or business card. Online marketing is taking over offline marketing the same way that Google took over Yahoo as the search engine of choice. If you have an online presence established,  here are 5 tips to keep your website present on the top of the search engines. Post to your blog regularly, Ideally Daily! A lot of you have already heard this concept. Post regularly to your blog so that the search engines get into a habit of coming back to you blog and indexing it. The more you post the more the search engine bots come and scoop up your new and great material to share with the rest of the world. It also keeps you current on your readers’ minds. It really sux if you like someone’s blog and they stop posting for a week or two. That just drives readers crazy and may even piss them off. So keep your readers and the search engines happy; post great articles to your blog, and post them often. Update your Main Page Regularly. your main web page should be updated regularly as well. If your main website runs off a bloggin platform then you have no problem as your main page is a blog and it changes every time you write a blog post, however if your website is a static page, then you need to update it regularly, maybe even monthly. It’s a good idea to keep current information in your website. maybe you are planning to attend an upcoming bridal show. It would be a good idea to write a paragraph on your page telling your online visitors where they can go meet you. If a reader reaches your website and it has not changed for over 1 year, don’t you think they would be wondering if there is anyone really on the other side? You want them to gain confidence by your website, not lose it. Check your Web Stats Regularly Stats, Stats, and more stats… If you are not tracking your website stats in any way, then you will have a difficult time knowing where to go next. You should have many website goals. For example, my goals are; To rank high on the search engines, To continually grow my website traffic every month, to target more brides in Houston to book my DJ Services or Photo booth Services, To convert more visitors into customers, etc… If you can track how may visitors you have and how they arrived on your website, then you have a better idea of what to do with your website, which pages to tweak, which pages to eliminate, which pages your customers are coming from, why they don’t buy when they land on a specific page, how long a visitor lasts on a page, etc… For example, I use 3 forms of tracking website visitors on my website. 1. A program called TraceWatch, which is probably the best tool I’ve used to track my website visitors, it’s a little more complicated to use and you do have to know a little bit of programming to get it to work, but it’s by far the best tool. If you’ve read any of my posts where I show you my website traffic stats, that’s the tool that you see. 2. Google Analytics Tool. This tool is great but it is limited a bit since it uses Javascript and people can opt to turn off javascript, so they don’t get tracked. It is simple to install on your web pages that you want to track and google does all the work for you. All you do is install the script on your pages, and log into your google analytics page and see all the results; how many visitors come to your site, where they come from, what search engine terms they use, what pages they visit most, how long they are on your site, etc.. 3. Wordpress Stats. This requires you to have an account on wordpress.com and is good but it is very limited. Hey, some tracking is better than no tracking. but You need to track, track, track so you can know where you stand. Get new incoming links to your website. This is a hard task to do but if you can accomplish this, you will move up the ranks of the search engines fairly quick. What you do is go to the free directories and fill out the information to get listed on those directories. Sometimes they require you to post a link to their website on one of your web pages. Create a links page and host their link on your page; that’s their only requirement. Ask other vendors if  you could trade links with them and tell them exactly how you want your link. A great idea, is to have your targeted keywords on the link text. Instead of saying “Click Here” you might want the link to say “Houston Photographer” or “Houston Coordinator” Or “Houston Wedding DJ.” This is the optimal way to get links to your page as the search engines rank your page for those keywords. The more you have pointing to your site, the more ‘votes’ you get, the higher you rank in the search engines for those keywords. Leverage your Social Medias Social media is a great tool to use. I’ve found that Myspace is great to get business from other individuals, for example brides, personal parties, etc.. to where as Facebook I have been able to network myself for other wedding vendors. Twitter, I would also say that you can network better with other wedding vendors. I have not gotten completely into the whole twitter bandwagon, but I have an account. My advice for the social medias is just to be a part of them and find out the best way that you can get something of value out of them. They are a new way of marketing so if you can find a way to leverage them, you will be one step ahead of your competition. Youtube, now there is something most wedding vendors don’t really want to get into. I’ve had great success both from search engine traffic and as a good way to gain my client’s trust. Videos are great for customers who don’t like to read, you can make a video, upload it to youtube and you will have a great representation of you and your services and display it on your site. The best part, if you use your keywords on your video title, you will rank highly on the search engines for those keywords, add a link to your website on your profile or on the video itself and you will have an extra added flow of targeted traffic to your site. These are the 5 basic steps that I follow to make sure that my websites increase their traffic every month. Happy Bloggin! Oct12 Thuglak on Karunanidhi and Ram Setu A week or so ago, I received the editorial of the Thuglak magazine from a friend as an email forward. In it, the magazine lambasts the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi, for his (mis-)handling of and his attitudes concerning the Sethusamudram project. Titled “Arrogance, is your name Kalaignar?“, this was a fantastic piece and took apart clinically the DMK’s bungling on the issue. For those who can read Tamil, here it is. Here is a rough translation of the same. I have tried to remain true to the editorial’s contents as far as possible. That the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu makes a habit out of wounding the sentiments of Hindus is known to one and all. But his remarks at the recent DMK meeting in Erode is a new chapter in his anti-Hinduism stance. The Central Government recently informed the Supreme Court of India that it was looking into ways of executing the Sethusamudram project without disturbing the Ram Setu (the bridge that Lord Rama is known to have built on his way to Lanka). This should certainly have rubbed the Chief Minister the wrong way. This is because his primary motive seems to be not the Sethusamudram project, but the demolition of the Ram Setu. Which is why the Centre’s stance angers him. But of what use is his anger? Already the Congress Government seems to be reeling under fear of being toppled. So even if the DMK were to threaten the Congress with a withdrawal of support, it won’t really carry so much weight. The Centre’s actions not only seem to verify its respect for Lord Rama, but has also won it three months of breathing space on the issue. In his address in Erode, the Chief Minister spewed his rhetoric: “There are some who believe that even today people will accept baseless, supersitious, even crazy beliefs. And they play on this by invoking Rama’s name. We are now in a situation where we can act in order to dispel the darkness that might surround us for ages; and it is with that view that I present before you an action-plan. The Central Government has submitted to right-wing communal forces, and is standing in the way of the Sethusamudram project. We should object to this unequivocally.” Is it enough just to raise voices in unison? The Central Government seems to have subscribed to the “baseless, superstitious, even crazy beliefs let loose by communal forces.” Even the Union Minister for Law has commented that “Rama is an inseparable part of India’s culture. This is not a matter open to debate. Just like the Himalayas are the Himalayas, and the Ganga is the Ganga, so Rama is Rama. One doesn’t need to prove anything in this regard.” The Centre has, in its communication to the Supreme Court, conveyed the message that it respects the sanctity of the Ramayana, and that it respects all religions; and in this matter, the Hindu religion specifically. So the plan to plunge the country into “darkness for ages” is supported, even sponsored, by the Central Government. Then how on earth can the DMK continue to support the Central Government? how can the DMK hug onto ministerial berths in such a Government? If, as the Chief Minister contends, the Congress is shortselling the country to traitors, how can the DMK continue to be in power in Tamil Nadu with the support of that selfsame Congress party? Is this not a greater treachery on the part of the DMK? Is not the DMK compromising the lofty principles of Periyar by indulging in such treachery? The only way the DMK can win over these traitors and their treachery is to withdraw its support to the Central Government, and also let the Congress party withdraw its support to the State Government. Why is the Chief Minister not doing this? Is he afraid of something? What reason can one ascribe to this other than his lust and greed for power? The Chief Minister has even gone on to call the Central Government a sly fox, a chameleon. Then what can one describe him as, when he doesn’t have the guts to oppose the actions of the Central Government? The truth is that the Chief Minister doesn’t hesitate one bit when it comes to compromising the principles of Periyar in order to remain in power, and also see the members of his family remain firmly in positions of power. But he can let loose tons of rhetoric. When it comes to verbal battles, he ranks top of the pile. But when it comes to putting it into actions, he falls far short. His inaction, or rather inability to act, is because of his power-hungry attitude that helps the members of his family stay in power. Now that he is unable to react to the Congress, who else can his rhetoric target? Yes, there is always the easy target – the sentiments of Hindus. His eyes blinded by anger, the Chief Minister gets into his own when it comes to verbal volleys: “Who is Ram? Which engineering college did He attend? When exactly did He construct the bridge? Is there any proof?” There are some who spew hypocrisy thinking it is intelligent talk. how different is this? If one says that the bridge was constructed by Ram, it doesn’t mean that He collected and arranged stones and built the bridge all by Himself. We read in history that a king constructed a temple, installed sculptures and so on. We don’t question, “Did he carry stones himself? Did he sculpt them himself?” Under his orders, a group of experts would have worked on the project and brought it to fruition. But we don’t mention the name of the sculptor when talking about the temples or the statues. Rather we refer to them as the work of the king. This is how it is all over the world. The case of the Ram Setu is similar. While the Chief Minister habitually speaks ill of the Ramayana, he also doesn’t forget to misquote from the epic from time to time. Valmiki describes the process thus: The king of the seas aided Ram in the construction of the bridge. He even appointed Nala to help Rama. Nala was the son of Vishwakarma (who is considered the Creator of the worlds). He had not only inherited his father’s skill, but had also his full blessings. An expert, he at once ordered Sugriva to collect all the necessary construction material. Sugriva’s army of vanarars got into action immediately. (Here, it is instructive to distinguish vanarars from monkeys, which is what everyone assumes. Valmiki’s Ramayana notes that vanarars were skilled in construction work, and even used their skill to build huge palaces.) With their help, rocks were gathered from mountains, trees felled and all the required material was brought to the coastline. The huge rocks were pushed into the sea, and the trees were placed atop the rocks. In this fashion, the bridge was built. Some commented that it looked like a constellation of stars, while some others felt it resembled the parting of the hair in the head. Over this bridge, Rama, Surgriva and his army crossed the ocean into Lanka. So, instead of sounding like an ignoramus, the Chief Minister should at least have asked, “Which engineering college did Nala attend?” To which our answer would have been “He learnt the skill from his father, who was an expert.” Will the selfsame Chief Minister who quips, “Where did Rama learn civil engineering?” also ask the following questions? Legend has it that Kannagi burnt the city of Madurai by culling her breasts and throwing it at the city. Where did she learn this technique? Did she major in Biology? Or nuclear engineering? Will the Hon’ble Chief Minister stoop to ask such a question? WE will not. Because we understand that Kannagi’s actions attest to the power of Kannagi’s devotion to her husband The Chief Minister himself has written an explanation to the ancient Tamil grammar text “Tholkaappiam”. Will he condescend to ask “At which university did Tholkaappiar learn grammar? Who taught him, he who devised the rules of Tamil grammer, the principles of grammar?” WE will not. Because we realize that in ages gone by, people lived who were of such scholarly ability that we cannot even dream to match. We all know that Thiruvalluvar gave us Thirukkural, one of the great achievements in world literature. Will the Chief Minister deign to question “Where did Thiruvalluvar learn the art of crafting poems? Who taught him the nuances of the Tamil language? From where did he comprehend the philosophy studded in his couplets? WE will not. Because we realize that Thiruvalluvar was a saint, a scholar whose poetry and philosophy was God-given. Let it be. Does anyone wonder whether the Chief Minister, who questions the existence of Lord Rama, has ever commented about the beliefs of people of other faiths? Does he have anything to say about the Hazrat Bal mosque in Kashmir, which is known to enshrine a hair of Prophet Mohammad? Will the Chief Minister debase himself by asking if it is really belongs / belonged to Prophet Mohammad? Will he ask for proof? WE will not. Because we know it doesn’t become of a civilized individual to speak ill about the great men held in high esteem by people of different faiths. It is known that Jesus Christ died on the cross, but came back to life two days after. Will the Chief Minister dare to ask “Where did Christ conduct research on Resurrection? Or if someone brought Him back to life, where did that person learn this art? Is there a proof for all this?” WE will not. Because we consider it a savage act to mock at prophets, saints and messengers of God, even if they belong to a religion different from that we follow. Why go such

Building an Online Business Empire, Part 1 of 10 — Choosing a Business Method
Posted by admin in Affiliate Marketing, Internet Marketing, PLR, Product Launch, monetize, presell

In Part 0, we laid the foundation for building an online business empire; basically, we talked about what we’re going to talk about. Now, onto the “real work.” The first thing you have to decide on is “What is my business going to be?” Some things to consider: What am I good at? Do I have any special talents? What do I like to do? Can I learn what I don’t know already? Can I work without a boss? Can I really work from home, in my pajamas? I mean, really work hard? Is there enough material in me to make my own products? Do I have industry connections that will ease my transition into whatever market I wish to enter? Can I get help? how much in liquid assets can I avail myself of? Meaning, how long can I go without making any money before I have to get a “real job?” Do I have the support of my spouse or significant other? Many of these “issues” can be alleviated simply by starting out “part time.” Keep your day job and build your business every other waking, non-family hour. Let’s get to the real meat of this, then. What type of business should I start? There are a few excellent choices to start with. Sell other people’s products. Known as “affiliate marketing,” this is one of the easiest businesses to get into. And it can be very lucrative. Many affiliate programs pay 50, 75, or even 100 percent commissions (they hope to sell the buyer on “back-end” products after you sell them the first product). It’s not hard to imagine how selling a $100 product with a 75 percent commission can add up! Sell 3 a day, $225! Or, over $6000 a month. All of these sales, too, by the way, are done fairly passively, meaning you don’t have to call anybody or continually sell. Once you set up a sales process, you’re on auto-pilot? Create your own products. You have specialized knowledge that other people don’t have yet they seek it. You might be the parent of a “special needs” child, or you may have run the marketing operation of a small advertising agency. You might know how to train animals or have a special talent for baking cakes. Explore your experiences over the course of your lifetime and you’ll come up with dozens of product ideas for which you can create your own products. Then, you can build your own affiliate army and have other people sell your wares. This one is a hybrid of the two above, of sorts. Private Label Rights (PLR) materials are materials that you get (either free or you pay for them), modify to suit your tastes and –  more importantly — the tastes of your potential customers, and sell. In effect, you’re selling other people’s products (as in affiliate marketing), but you’re changing them up (sort of like creating your own product), but after the initial outlay of labor and/or money, you keep all of the profits. I have a really good course on starting and running your own PLR business called Internet Millions. On the flipside of buying or acquiring PLR materials, why not create them? You sell your PLR to people who need well-written material. You don’t have to worry much about marketing, setting up niche websites, the sales process, and the like. You sell to the dozens of very good PLR membership sites that exist; they’re always looking for good material (and trust me, there is a lot more crap writing out there than good). Membership sites. This is where you serve up content but for a price. It’s a great business model IF you have a lot of content because you receive regular monthly payments, rather than a one-time payment for a product you sell. However, I think a membership site is something you work into your business plan after you’ve established a profitable business. There’s always eBay and Amazon. If you have physical products like books, gadgets, or other “hard goods,” these two sites are ripe for building a business. Advertising. There are a lot of notable blogs that make a considerable 5 or even 6 figure monthly income based on serving up ads on your own site for other people. Google’s AdSense is the big player on campus, but there are others, most notably yahoo and Microsoft. Of course, you can (and I encourage you to) marry more than one of these methods into your business plan. I would suggest that you start with no more than 2, however. My choices would be PLR and/or affiliate marketing PLUS AdSense. I would spend very little time on AdSense, and my thinking goes like this. AdSense will serve your visitors with ads that could actually help them, but they can also hinder your sales. For example, let’s say you’re promoting (”affiliate marketing”) a product that promises to solve a particular snoring problem. On your website, you write a post or page that talks about the negative health effects of snoring and you conclude with a link to the product you’re promoting (or “pre-selling”). If you have an AdSense ad on that page, it is very likely that the ad will be about snoring and how to stop it (in fact, this is exactly how the ads are supposed to work — they aren’t called “contextual” for nothing). So instead of leading your reader to the sales page of the product you want to sell, you have sent them to a competitor. Not good. Use sparingly. I suggest you place contextual ads only on pages your are not selling from. Seriously. So there you have it — a few very good methods to get your online business empire going. Next up, in Part 2, we’ll brainstorm ideas, keywords, site concepts, and other things. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed.
