Basics of personal Wind Power
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!by Brian Bradley These days it seems like everyone is looking to go green. If youre one of those people who is thinking of using wind power to keep your house powered up, youre not alone. There are several choices in using wind power to get rid of you electric company, the cheapest and quickest of which is to buy a wind turbine that has been manufactured for homeowners. The investment you’ll be making to power your house in every respect will be anywhere from $5000 to $20,000. If your utility bills are about average, you can expect that the investment will to pay for itself in about 10 to 15 years. This is acceptable to some, but to really get the best value for your money, it is best to apply some do-it-yourself ethos. If you build carefully, you will see that you can produce the same results as the pre-made wind turbine, for an investment as low as $200. Youll need to put together the following materials to build your own wind turbine: * DC Power Motor * Metal Sheets for building the structure * ABS or PVC pipe (to construct your wind turbine blades) * A hub to attach the motor and blades * A tower to support the blades * Deep-Cycle Battery (to store your energy) * A charge controlled to prevent battery overload * Dump load (for excess power) * AC Inverter (for AC power) * Nuts and bolts (for connecting the blades to the hub and other pieces) * Miscellaneous tools It is easy to see that a do-it-yourself wind turbine requires more technical savvy than it takes to produce your own solar panels. This is because the device is more complicated mechanically. Though youre putting in more work, youll find that a wind turbine produces far more power than a solar panel. The power generation is about 300 to 500 watts from your own windmill, if everything is assembled correctly. With that kind of power generation, those electricity bills wont be high for long. Before you start any of this, be sure that your home is in an area where there is sufficient wind to justify a wind turbine. For best results, the wind should be about 10mph. If your house is near the ocean, in a mountainous region, or on open plains, youll have plenty of wind. If you are in an area with lots of trees and at low elevation, you may find less success. If you aren’t in a wind friendly area your best bet is to go with solar panels instead. Sports Betting Champ - A personal Experience
February 10th, 2008 by Michael Constantinos
I decided to write this post, as my blog is not a sports betting blog, but I’ve been getting so many questions about this from a previous Sports Betting Champ post, I wanted to update you all about Sports Betting Champ and welcome you to please leave a comment or feedback, either positive or negative. I don’t censor.
First of all, since posting this post, I’ve won 16 17 19 too many to count more bets including 2 over the last 2 nights with the LA Clippers and Washington Denver Nuggets and the San Antonio Spurs both making me some easy money, and understandably, I have really got into it. Read about my game-by-game commentary and bet analysis in my sports betting blog that I’ve dedicated to sports betting and Sports Betting Champ. [Feb 12 Update - All future blog posts on this topic will be made on the official, unofficial Sports Betting Champ Blog that has just been launched to blog about and verify all Sports Betting Champ betting activities.] I am not a gambler, but as an entrepreneur, I am always looking for opportunities to generate Multiple Streams of Income. I also happen to like sports and competition in general, so why not? And hey, it’s been really fun and profitable.
So, the answer to the question that a lot of you asked. It kind of went like this. Michael, is this for real?
Yes. The system, Sports Betting Champ works. John Morrison is a nice guy and actually knows what he’s doing. The service is excellent. The bet alerts come in with plenty of time to place a bet (usually at least 10-12 hours prior to the game). It’s really simple to use. You don’t have to be chained to your computer. You don’t need to know anything aobut NBA, MLB or whatever. You don’t need a lot of cash, but a couple of hundred at the very least to get started in a small way. Obviously, the more capital to start with, the higher your potential earnings. You get the alerts for life so enjoy the game and don’t bet the farm on 1 game. Play responsibly and take responsibility for your actions. The opportunity that Sports Betting Champ provides is awesome and it’s all about the alerts. It’s pretty easy to get started and the manuals are short and simple. Like I said, I’m grateful that I’m part of his subscription as I get my alerts continually without any effort.
Consider giving Sports Betting Champ a go and start enjoying being a winner with your sports betting. If you want to start just Paper Trading, you can follow the action as it comes in without requiring any risk until you feel you are ready to jump in. At the end of it, like I always say - Enjoy the game and keep it fun with Sports Betting Champ.
2008 Final NBA Update Score - 80 Wins, 1 loss

2008/2009 Current NBA Score: 67 Wins-0 Losses

Turn Your personal Shadow Into Fuel For The Future
By Gary Houck in Awareness on July 4th, 2009 / One Comment
Take a walk in a big city. It could be Chicago, Boston, LA. Smell the faint stench of sewer on a hot day, observe shadows of glistening buildings hulking over you. People pass on all sides in waves of color, bearing with them their own shadows, just as you, when sunlight touches them and stretches around. They might be lawyers, prostitutes, clergy; no ethnicity is excluded. All are equal; they have shadows. It’s a law of nature, of the physical world; every material thing casts a shadow of its own. Take a walk in the countryside. It could be in the farmland of Kansas, Iowa, Michigan, perhaps a forest of trees. Smell the fragrance of spring blossoms, manure fertilizing crops, observe shadows of trees rustling in the breeze. But we call it shade. And is it any wonder that shade is another name for spirit? Ghost, ka, demon. It was believed in many ancient cultures that the shadow was the soul. For this reason vampires were portrayed as casting no shadow. And so it is said that when we fight our negative desires that we have unconsciously created, those which we attempt to hide and inevitably display in dysfunctional ways, that we are “battling our inner demons.” My first experience with ‘shadow work’ as it is called, was with Centerpointe Research Institute. Well, that’s almost true, but give me a moment to relate my experience. My shadow work resulted around anger. Mine was the common dysfunctional family. A self-righteous father with an immense insatiable hole to fill, and a loving mother who was as equally repressed as I. Boundaries were ever shifting. What was permissible one day was wrong the next, then allowed the day after. I was abused verbally on a daily basis, told I was worthless and other comparable ‘content-value’ labels. I struggled with myself because, while most of me did not believe these things, part of me questioned my certainty, made me think every so often that perhaps I was worthless after all. I experienced depression and on several occasions seriously contemplated suicide. Meanwhile our family was in significant debt even though my father made sixty grand a year. I was wearing his hand-me-downs which were too big around the waist and too short at the pant leg. When I got a job, he abused me to my friends, and took half my money for rent which only went to buy more things. He didn’t drink, yet we never could figure out where much of the money went to. After I caught him with another woman, life was more peaceful than it used to be because he was no longer around, but six months after I discovered that, despite my best efforts and my vow that I would never be like him, I sounded like him. It was something my mother did, and though I don’t remember what it was, I remember that I was reactive. I heard Robert in that voice, in that sentence I never completed, because suddenly I realized I had been acting that way for the last several months. While he was around to remind me of the behavior that I hated, I was so docile I let people walk on me, but now that he was gone, everything of I which I was not aware floated to the surface. I knew that practicing is preaching, but I never realized I had been affected so strongly until that moment. What you do unconsciously will effect those unconscious around you. I told my mother that was being a jerk, that I was being just like Robert. I asked her forgiveness and asked her to tell me any time I was acting like him because I did not want that in my life. It wasn’t until a few years after that I discover what this was called, but I never made the connection until the last few paragraphs, that I had actually done some beginner ‘shadow work’ on myself. The ‘shadow work’ with the Centerpointe assistant, however, was much deeper. At first I struggled with wrapping my mind around the concept of becoming anger, until I realized I couldn’t logically be anger, that I had to be anger intuitively. It required me to feel what anger feels like and fall into it, without any sort of mentally conceived definitions. It was an abyss and I hated what I found there, I hated being anger, especially when I began to speak from that voice which I had repressed in my attempt to survive. Before we can rid ourselves of these shadows (and we all have them), we must first acknowledge that we created them ourselves. It does not matter that another assisted us in producing them. It doesn’t matter that we conceived them unconsciously. What matters is that we conceived them ourselves and that only we can be rid of them ourselves. All it requires for us to be is willing and early on, some quality guidance. We cannot just label them as our ‘demons’ as if they something outside our sphere of control; all of us must be responsible for our own actions, for our own lives. This is what Debbie Ford is offering. Her work is essential for helping you discover your full potential. Throughout her video The Shadow Effect, she gives examples of celebrities and our perceptions of them that instantaneously arise to show us that we are in fact no different than them, or anyone else in that we can achieve, or fail, as they. No matter how high of a pedestal one is put upon, they are still only human. Anyone could argue any political angle, in favor of one celebrity or against, but those points are moot beside the fundamental purity of her intention and the value she offers to you, the seeker. We all can disagree in any area, but the point is made clear that our potential is limitless and that we all require assistance, even if it means assisting yourself, to change that shadow into light.
A business friend and I were discussing the numerous emails I receive about my use of “Yoda” as my avatar. I don’t use my own picture because I am a safety junkie. I am not sure how safe it is to feature my face nationwide and I am not real comfortable with it. There are a lot of freaky people out there and I just feel safer as Yoda, but does it make me appear unprofessional? What is your opinion? I am truly interested. personal improvement – Steve Pavlina on The Conscious Pursuit of personal Growth
Steve Pavlina on personal development, personal growth book, self actualization, gifted and talented book That comes from the subtitle of Steve Pavlina’s book personal Development for Smart People. One of the most influential psychologists who defined the human potential movement, Abraham Maslow (1908–1970) noted, “Self-actualization means using one’s intelligence. “It does not mean doing some far-out thing necessarily, but it may mean going through an arduous and demanding period of preparation in order to realize one’s possibilities… Self actualization means working to do well the thing that one wants to do.” Finding a method with head and heart As Pavlina points out, the personal development and self-improvement area is not only huge, but often fragmented, varying widely from one expert to another in terms of consistency and value of information. Even leaders such as Maslow can present dynamic ideas about personal growth in a way that is often academic, rather than including practical strategies to help us actually grow. In studying the field for many years, Pavlina says he “realized that an intelligent approach to personal development would have to resolve these incongruencies somehow. “Such an approach would have to make logical and intuitive sense, satisfying both head and heart. It would have to appear logically correct in order to satisfy the left brain, and it would have to feel intuitively correct in order to engage the right brain.” His book succeeds at doing that. This is not a simple or superficial prescription, but rather a clear and well-researched overview of principles he found to be a “common pattern behind all successful growth efforts,” followed by a section (about half the book) of practical exercises and applications. Facing the truth One of those principles is facing the truth honestly. Pavlina quotes writer Henry Miller: “Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. “What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for [those who have] the vision to recognize it as such.” Pavlina explains: “Truth is the first principle of personal development. We primarily grow as human beings by discovering new truths about ourselves and our reality. “You’ll certainly learn some important lessons no matter how you live, but you can accelerate your growth tremendously by consciously seeking truth and deliberately turning away from falsehood and denial.” 30-days to change a habit One of the exercises and strategies for habit change he describes is the method of “30-day trials” that he had known from his years as a software developer. The idea is for a company (Adobe is one of numerous examples) to provide a potential customer a free trial of a software application, knowing many people will go on to purchase it. Pavlina notes making a change in a habit – one of the core aspects of personal growth – is the most difficult during the first few days, and that if you can make it through thirty days, you are likely to overcome inertia and keep going. Truthful, loving, strong In the book Afterword, he summarizes: “When your thoughts and actions are truthful, loving and strong, you’re living consciously and intelligently. This is the very best you can do as a human being.” Reading the thoughtful principles and making use of them by following the practical exercises and strategies, personal Development for Smart People can be an effective tool for helping us realize our talents and possibilities. J.K. Rowling on the benefits of failure for personal growth development
One of the many things that can fuel our sense of failure is comparing what we do and attempt to do with what others have accomplished. J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books, is, of course, a prime example of success and accomplishment. But in this video, her Commencement Address st Harvard University, June 5, 2008, “The Fringe Benefits of Failure, and the Importance of Imagination,” she reminds us that achievement is not a singular event or a linear progression. Here is an excerpt from the transcript : Ultimately, we all have to decide for ourselves what constitutes failure, but the world is quite eager to give you a set of criteria if you let it. So I think it fair to say that by any conventional measure, a mere seven years after my graduation day, I had failed on an epic scale. An exceptionally short-lived marriage had imploded, and I was jobless, a lone parent, and as poor as it is possible to be in modern Britain, without being homeless. The fears that my parents had had for me, and that I had had for myself, had both come to pass, and by every usual standard, I was the biggest failure I knew. Now, I am not going to stand here and tell you that failure is fun. That period of my life was a dark one, and I had no idea that there was going to be what the press has since represented as a kind of fairy tale resolution. I had no idea then how far the tunnel extended, and for a long time, any light at the end of it was a hope rather than a reality. So why do I talk about the benefits of failure? Simply because failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me. Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena I believed I truly belonged. I was set free, because my greatest fear had been realised, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life. You might never fail on the scale I did, but some failure in life is inevitable. It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default. Failure gave me an inner security that I had never attained by passing examinations. Failure taught me things about myself that I could have learned no other way. I discovered that I had a strong will, and more discipline than I had suspected; I also found out that I had friends whose value was truly above the price of rubies. The knowledge that you have emerged wiser and stronger from setbacks means that you are, ever after, secure in your ability to survive. You will never truly know yourself, or the strength of your relationships, until both have been tested by adversity. Such knowledge is a true gift, for all that it is painfully won, and it has been worth more than any qualification I ever earned. NOTE – Some of her address is quoted in The Pursuit of Perfect: How to Stop Chasing Perfection and Start Living a Richer, Happier Life by Tal Ben-Shahar, Ph.D. adult underachievement, personal growth development, learning from failure, J.K. Rowling

Rowling

Make an Impression With Your personal Brand
Jun 25, 2009
Marketing & Branding
I recently participated in an online conversation in which someone was asking about his personal brand. He was wondering, since he had the same qualifications and offered the same skill set as several others who had been around about the same amount of time, or less, why they seemed to be doing so much better than he was. Why were they more well known and experiencing more success than him? Any of us who have an internet presence must be concerned with our own personal brand and it can be productive and even motivational to compare ourselves with our peers. What is a brand anyway? We tend to think of a brand in terms of consumer products like Kraft, Apple, Nike, etc. but it’s broader than that: A brand is a collection of experiences and associations connected with a service, a person or any other entity. ~ Wikipedia A good brand provides the consumer something of predictable positive value. Things like: Entertainment – great writing, interesting anecdotes, a great story, the latest gossip, a fun game Education – helpful information, up to date news, enlightening thoughts, how-to guides, lists of resources Experience – an easy to use product, products that make you feel good, Let’s look at this in terms of blogging. Your readers are consumers of Brand You on your blog. A good brand is predictable Regular posting (note I did not say “frequent”) and consistency of quality are key. Readers have found quality at your site in the past and expect to find it with each post. A good brand is positive People who “consume” your brand come away with a positive feeling. They were entertained, educated, challenged, etc. and they will come back for more. A good brand adds value How are you making the lives of your readers better? How are you adding value to their lives? Actions really do speak louder than words Branding is not about defining yourself through words. It’s about defining yourself through actions. You will not build your brand much by telling all about yourself and what makes you so great. You build a great personal brand by doing great things. Obviously, you’ll want to engage in some self-promotion at times, but that’s not the main focus of your efforts. Even a blog like Dooce for example, which is by nature, all about herself and her family is a great brand because she provides consistent entertainment. Adjust your focus The reality is that people aren’t interested in you, your career, your passions, etc… They’re interested in themselves. For the most part, unless you just have some “fans” who follow you because they really do want to know everything about you, they’re asking, “what’s in it for me?” It’s the standard question people in marketing know that the consumer is asking every time they examine a brand. Focus on your readers, not yourself. Give stuff away for free. Ask, “how can I help you?” and “what are you interested in?” Readers can tell very quickly whether you’re out to promote and build up yourself, or whether you’re out to promote and build up others. Think about that friend you have, who when you have a conversation, continually talks about himself. He rarely asks about you, and you can tell when you’re talking about something that he’s just waiting for you to finish so he can talk again. He’s not someone you want to hang around much, is he? A holistic approach to branding Because a brand is a “collection of experiences and associations,” all of your online activities play a role in the perception people have of you. This seems like a no brainer, but let’s say you have a great site with copy that talks about being interested in your readers, blah, blah, blah… and then when they follow you on Twitter, all your tweets are self-promotional (read my latest post, vote for me, look at this thing I did) and you rarely reply to anyone. Your brand intergrity doesn’t mean much because it’s clearly insincere. Up for some more reading on personal branding? It was an experiment, now an inspiration
Back in 2008, where there was no sign of the site BlogKori; I had a blog about network marketing. My friends asked me to tell them how to start a blog and to make money with it. Sharing all of those tips in a post or email was impossible so I decided to create a collection called BlogKori(I'm blogging).. turned out into my successful blog ever, now it's a huge collection of resources and still adding new posts..

How blogging reflexes your personal and professional life?

Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.I love to blog and I’m glad of this wonderful tool. Blog/ weblog allows me to write my own opinions on different topics. It’s a sort of personal news publication, just like the revolution of desktop publishing. The things you’re doing and the way you’re viewing different thing shows on your writing. Let’s see how your blog is reflexing your personal and professional life,
Your personality
Blogging shows what kind of person you are? By reading your about page, readers can know who is this person, where he from and what he wants to do with this blog. Your writing will show if you’re an influenced audience, or an expert critique? This will also show up if you’re the person who goes within the wave, or the one who wants to create a new destination against all odds!
Twitter updates are much more personal and you can learn the exact expression of this person. If you’re about to marry a person and want to know more about their personalities, then you must subscribe to their RSS feeds or follow them on twitter!
Your creativity
One can make a big blog from scratch with his creativity. You have to write the same things what others are writing in your niche, your creativity will make you stand out. By reading the first post, your readers will know about your creativity. “Wow! I didn’t realize that in this way? How innovative!” Your readers are reading the same thing everywhere, but wants to read it only from you. Some news based blogs are cool but they only contain simple reviews or sales pitch. This sure makes sense about the creativity of the author.
Your authority
Blogging is all about building your personal authority in a field. No matter what you write, tech, science, sports or stories; the more authority you have, the better content you’ll provide. People will figure it out from your writing style, is this person a newbie or an expert? having an authority has lots of other benefits. A reporter may cover you because your authority in such field. You’ll find business connections or even job opportunities for your expertise.
Your popularity
Okay, you’re not a celebrity or not even a business mogul, but still you can become an internet celebrity for blogging. Look at the examples of Darren Rows, John Chow, Chris Garrett -who are they? They don’t do much outside of blogging but this is the thing that made them famous. Blogging is not all about writing articles, it’s about communicating with people, marketing and influencing. Your blog and social status shows your popularity. Take a search about you on google and you’ll find it!
Have your say
Are you revealing the real side of yourself online? What do you prefer, reveal or keep yourself hidden?

This morning, I woke up early. Weird. Because it’s the weekend and I would normally sleep in until at least 8 a.m. Of course, I remember the days when sleeping in on Sunday meant getting up at noon - but those days are definitely behind me. Today, I was excited to get up because it’s the day that 3 WINNERS will be selected for our weekly giveaway! I’ve never done a drawing like this, so I’m pretty psyched to see who wins the first round. After getting my coffee, I went into my home office. Weird. Because Sunday is the only day I usually watch a little TV first. Some news, The Soup, and whatever trash happens to be on Vh1, like Rock of Love Bus. But today, I wanted to get up and get online. Checking email, I usually start with the latest and make my way down through the list. This isn’t a great strategy and might be why I typically have over 3,000 unread emails at any given time. But once in awhile, a subject line will catch my eye and I gravitate to it first. Today’s attention getter? It just read: Post?? It was from my best friend, Karen. Weird. Because I thought she was at her parent’s house on vacation in Florida with her family. I wouldn’t expect to see an email from her this morning. I did have other emails filling my box before Karen’s: Pavlina at Bobbi Marcus PR in LA sends out a request on behalf of the ASCAP Event Season 2009. She asks if Sugarluxe would donate work to the Pop Music Awards Show, April 22nd, at Kodak Theater / The Renaissance Hollywood Complex in Los Angeles. I’m already overbooked on donations this year, but maybe you’d like to learn more about some of the cool things going on in the Hollywood Celebrity circles. Jessica at Shecky’s in New York announces that their next big Girls Night Out event in Dallas has over 6000 women registered to attend. I’ve never participated in one of their events…but if I were ever going to do a designer trade show event…this would be the one. These girls are really awesome. Tricia at Avalon Communications in Austin confirms high profile media outlets, like The View and E!, will feature her company’s Gift Bags. I haven’t done Celebrity Gift Bags since I first started my company…but if I were to ever do it again, I would consider Avalon Communications because the Founder, Kristyn Hutzell is a graduate of University of Texas. I like to support fellow alums as much as I can. But those are the kind of emails I get every day. So, sorting through the opportunities, I am pleased to spot something from a friend. Weird. Because I am a workaholic whose living depends on identifying great opportunities. But without my friends, and particularly my best friend, there would probably be no Sugarluxe. When I opened Karen’s email, I did exactly as I do every time I read anything she writes. I laugh. She always makes me laugh. Karen decided to write a blog post on the Sugarluxe Giveaways. That’s the first part that cracked me up because she wanted to earn extra entries into the drawing with a blog post about it - ala THE OFFICIAL RULES. Based on how much I talk about Karen…you probably know I would do anything for her. Including giving her anything I ever make for FREE. Perhaps that sounds unfair…but she’s my best friend. And that’s why I am blown away every time she buys something; she has never expected anything for free from me. She has supported my vision for years. Long before I ever launched my company, long before anyone else knew what I really wanted to do with my life, and long before most people even knew how to pronounce my first name. I sure hope she doesn’t mind me sharing. Here’s how her email started out… Karen to Chandra: So, I have been wanting my 15 extra entries and have been pondering my blog post/FB post. This is what I have come up with, and since these are details about you, I wanted to give you post approval. Let me know if there is anything you want me to strike from the record (like the pop music crack). Title: 25 Things Redux: Sugarluxe Edition So this thing has been around the world and back, even garnering a snarky article in Time Magazine. Whatever. I find it gratifying to know details about people, no matter how inconsequential, and enjoy the order and conciseness of lists…so different from the way I actually live my life. I am changing things up just a little here by posting a 25 Things list about someone else, specifically Chandra Michaels, the artist behind brand Sugarluxe, and a BFF from way back. Sure, she’s done her own FB list, but this one will show how she looks through my eyes. So, here goes: I know. Denied. No outbound link. Right now, I’m still trying to decide whether or not to link to Karen’s list. It’s not like she needs visitors to her blog, it’s totally a personal space. And…I feel quite conspicuous about sending anyone to see how fabulous my best friend says that I am. I mean, clearly, there’s a bias. So, I’m a happier person today just knowing that she feels this way. If she REALLY wants me to link - I will. But for now, I’m simply reveling in the sweetness by myself. And here’s my reply… Chandra to Karen: I have started typing this line for 45 minutes. Erasing it every time because I just didn’t know what to say and couldn’t possibly write anything that would even come close to conveying how this made me feel. Even with your innate talent for writing, even though you are so hilarious that funniness can’t help but be attached to whatever you say, and even though you could make a turd seem trendy and cool - I will ignore all of that and just hope for a moment that I am half as great as you make me sound. I will keep these statements with me for the rest of my life. I will read them every time I feel down and I want to giggle again. I will never ever forget that you remember so much and that is a gift, in and of itself. You need to write…all the time. I know you’re so busy with two little ones, but I hope one day…you start writing your series of books. The kind our girls would grow up on. Some kind of Flowers in the Harry Potter Twilight Attic. As a girl who knows me better than any other, this is an example of friendship at its best. And you are always best. My wish for every woman in the world is that we all have at least one friend in our lives like Karen. Friendships with females aren’t always easy and seem to be more difficult to maintain the older we get. But there is just nothing that can compare to finding, keeping and loving your Best Friend Forever. SHARE THIS POST: Tweet This Post

Image via Wikipedia I’ve been MIA from the blogosphere for a little while, but I’m back and raring to go. Been forced to listen to a lot of talk radio, read a lot of Tweets, and watch a lot of Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC lately. The negative vibes almost killed me….but I’m still standing and you can too. I will get back to my regularly scheduled programming in the next post but there is something laying heavy on my heart and I have got to get it off. I have faith in America, I have faith in the American people, I believe that you are all bright, intelligent beings who can think for yourselves. But I gotta tell ya, you are not Bill Maher, you are not Jon Stewart, you are not Bill O’reilly, you are not Rush Limbaugh, you are not Sean Hannity, why you aren’t even Keith Olberman! And you have got to stop letting these guys do your thinking for you. Sometimes we forget that these guys are (as Rush once said) “only entertainment”. That they actually get paid to do the things they do and say the things they say. Sure they’re passionate, loud, committed - but at the end of the day none of them can teach you to be a better Dad or Mom. None of their advice will show you how to be a better person, live a better life, play well with others. As a matter of fact it’s just the opposite. They are putting so much negative crap in your head, that you can’t fit the positive thoughts that YOU need to survive and thrive and help turn this ship around. AND I am willing to bet that many of you are FEARful instead of FAITHful - well that’s not moving you forward is it? I believe (and this is America so feel free to disagree) that too many of us look to the media to educate and inform us. And once upon a time this may have been the case (but I don’t really believe that , I think if I do my research I will unearth facts that prove that the media in one way or another has always been a propaganda machine). Today no media outlet gives us “just the facts”, they spin it, they twist it, they dissect and debate it - and I reiterate - they do not care about you or the effect this all has on you. I mean seriously, in the old days the media might have waited a few minutes for the family of Michael Jackson to be notified that he was dead, before they told the entire world - today my friend it’s all about the scoop. That’s not about us, that’s about them. OK about the title of this post - “personal Responsibility” it’s a buzz phrase, you didn’t think it up yourself, it’s an implant - rip it out and get on with your life. Accept the fact that none of us have a choice but to be “personally responsible”. Obama’s birth certificate - it’s not important to the majority of Americans. Majority rules as this is still a Democracy. Again, wasn’t your idea, was someone else’s, get it out of your mind - go and do some volunteer work, find a teacher who has to buy supplies for your kids school and give her a gift card to Office Depot, babysit for a single mother so that she can go look for a job and get off welfare (and you can lose your reason to think badly of her), or mentor a child in your own neighborhood who’s lost a parent. This should take your mind off of the non-important issues and place it on something that might actually make a difference. At a recent Town Hall, a woman raised the question of Obama’s birth certificate and then she screamed “I want my country back” - well so do the Native Americans and so do the people who used to own Texas, Arizona and California. They moved on and you should too. And “All That Jazz ” id like one of my favorite movies of all time. Tired of you tellin’ the story your way It’s causin’ confusion You think it’s okay - ( “Scream” by Janet Jackson) And yes it does all just make me want to Scream.
