We have decided to feature Preemptive Love as our new “featured Tweeter”! The Preemptive Love Coalition is an organization that seeks to eliminate the backlog of Arab and Kurdish children waiting in line for life-saving heart surgery. There are thousands of children in Iraq today suffering from heart disease that threatens to take their little lives if they do not receive surgery outside the country. And time is running out because years of war and corruption have led to a health care system that is entirely ill-equipped to handle the enormity of the task. Visit preemptivelove.org for more information and ways in which you can help and be sure and follow Preemptive Love on Twitter! Do you know a Tweeter that should be featured? Let us know! The App store really has changed the game when it comes to mobiles and how we use them and it has just turned 1 year old and already has over 50,000 apps on there with a projected 100,000 by the end of the year. We made our own app which has cool cooking videos and lots of little tips and today the good people over at Apple decided to add it in as one of their 30 featured to celebrate their first birthday, this as you would imagine makes all of the people at Lookandtaste have big happy faces Grab your copy of the app tweetmeme_url = 'http://www.niallh.com/app-store-turns-1-featured/'; Some other posts related to this one:Subscriptions To Launch On App Store Tomorrow I am not normally in the know about anything important mainly because I...New A iPhone Splash Page Time is against me tonight and I need a Splash Page (like a...It’s Nearly Pancake Time It’s the time of year where everybody is starting to talk about pancakes...

J.Crew featured in Real Simple Magazine
Posted by Leigh on Jun 29, 2009 in In the News | Subscribe
In the latest issue of Real Simple magazine, I spotted a model wearing the Victoria ruffle cami with the Coccodrillo skirt.   The cami is sold out at J.Crew and the skirt is an in-store only item. However, a cardigan, a pair of shorts, and some swim pieces are available online in the same Coccodrillo print. Of the print, J.Crew says: We found this vintage alligator print in the archives of one of Italy’s top mills, Como-based Ratti—known the world over for its fine luxury fabrics and as famous for its intricate, one-of-a-kind prints as it is for its high-end, couture clientele. What are your thoughts on this print? Victoria ruffle cami, $98.00, Item 99930 Cocodrillo cardigan, $88.00, Item 16573 Coccodrillo short, $98.00, Item 15010 Cocodrillo ruched french tank, $125.00, Item 15954 Cocodrillo wide-band halter top, $56.00, Item 15981 Share and Enjoy:

featured Review: Honest Baby Tee Shirt

I was grateful to receive an Honest Baby tee shirt for Baby K. I have some video coverage of him wearing his cute shirt that says “I’m My Mom’s Job”, which I hope you will watch later on in this post. Honest Baby tee’s are just so cute and oh so true! There is one that says “Not sleeping through the night” and yes that would have been perfect for AJ when he was a baby. That boy never slept and still rarely does (we are working on figuring out why with a lot of testing), anyways, I just love the tee shirts at Honest Baby, bright colors, choice for every baby boy or girl. Honest Baby also has some great toys, not that I have yet been able to buy any but holiday time is coming! Enter code honesti and get FREE shipping, how cool is that? I love free shipping! Honest Baby has more than just great products, they are a community where parents can share their own story of real parenting experiences, read blogs, articles and similar stories in a non-judgmental community. I will certainly be spending some time over there because I love a place that shows the “real parenting” side of things. Being a parent is not always easy and Honest Baby has made a great community where you can truly relate to others and let your baby wear a tee shirt that tells the world what they are thinking in an honest way. So if you are a parent looking to show off your honest baby, why not get them a tee? Head on over and check out the community, shop and blog. Let me know what you think of the Honest Baby site. Ang Langyaw featured in Philippine Daily Inquirer
18 May 2009
16 Comments
I got featured at the Philippine Daily Inquirer issue of 17 May 09, Sunday Lifestyle Travel section, page H-4 It’s not always that one gets to be interviewed and featured at the same time in the Philippines’ widest circulating broadsheet, the Philippine Daily Inquirer but yesterday, 17 May 09, at the Sunday Lifestyle Travel section, it finally appeared, almost full page. I was first sent a text message by a former coworker from Public Affairs last year who told me that a writer of the broadsheet, Angge Goloy, was interested to interview me. She saw one of my mountaineering photos, blown up and hung at the department’s meeting room, asked about it and learned about me. A few months later, we were seated at Figaro in Shangrila Mall. Yesterday morning, while I was in transit to Cebu from Cagayan de Oro on a slow moving Trans-Asia ship, she texted me that it finally went to press. Presto! I just got really excited. Well, the article really is a brief history of my career change plus some info. It was placed under the Travel section, which, well, good. It not only discussed this new phase of my life but includes my beetle collecting endeavor too. There were some slight errors but not big enough to change things but I should correct these: I wasn’t able to update her about the Jakarta Biennale XIII 2009 which was postponed The name of Fr. Galenda should be Fr. Galende The output of the Singapore International Photography Festival Southeast Asian Workshop is not the Mapping Invisible Cities work which was a separate exhibition and has been on tour within the region since last year. For those of you who have missed the print version, check it online.

Meet featured Diva Joyce Mason
Platinum Diva Member What challenges are you facing as a woman in business during the downturn in the economy?   Writers face unique economic challenges at any time, not just during the present downturn.  As I once heard said, “Writers have the longest unpaid apprenticeship of any profession on earth.” (I think parenthood might be its only rival! Since we give birth to our creations of the mind, there’s a parallel.)   In practical terms, the publishing industry is in tremendous flux.  It’s harder than ever for first-time authors to get published in the traditional way, although there are many new opportunities for independent publishing.  The latter involves some personal investment at a time when my budget isn’t very fluid.   That makes it more important, now than ever, to find the best deal with the right publisher   We all face the test of not buying into a “poverty mindset,” despite all appearances. It is critical that we see this downturn as a natural cycle that will right itself and an opportunity to reassess what we value and how we can work better within our resources on hand.   What advice would you offer to others who are facing similar challenges?   This is your opportunity to learn how your greatest tools of prosperity are your mind and creativity. Let go of worry about how you’ll do it, and open up to divine surprise.  It’s a time when partnerships and non-monetary solutions can be forged to make up for less cash flow. Can you trade services with someone? Get an efficiency by joining forces? Brainstorm with your employees and colleagues without judgment on the practicality of any idea.  See what comes out of it that’s usable.  You might be amazed! Lastly, remember that what goes up, must come down and vice-versa.  This dip is temporary, even if that dip feels more like the Grand Canyon right now. Current economic predictors indicate that the economy is unlikely to turn around till 2010, so have both a short-term and long-term plan.   Do you recommend change at midlife?  Why or why not?  And in what areas?   Midlife is the perfect time for a reassessment and reality check.  A redirection of your life often comes out of this review. Where do you stand with what you wanted to create and accomplish in your life? None of us knows how much sand we’ve got left in our hourglass, but we know by now as baby boomers, there’s probably more on the bottom than on the top. We won’t be here forever, so if not now, when?  “Someday” can drift into “neverday” if we don’t take charge.  My midlife tune-up involved a look at the magical trio of body, mind, and spirit.  Am I eating, exercising, and creating optimal health so I can have a great rest of my life in my one “earth suit” I get issued? How are my attitudes creating joy or sorrow?  What is my relationship to Spirit?  I recommend making small, consistent changes that grow into big shifts of rejuvenation and rebirth for your second half of life.  We have the tools to live longer and healthier, so we really do get a second chance in the middle, if we just take it.   If you were granted three wishes, what would they be?   I’d go for these things that would create peace on earth.  That all of us: Live by the Golden Rule. Find our gifts and express our true passion, and through them, our place in the world. Discover what feeds our spirit and live by it.   Tell us three things about you that makes you great at what you do in your business.   My work as a writer draws heavily on my past background as a social worker, astrologer and spiritual mentor/cheerleader.  These roles enabled me learn to connect with people of all kinds and to help them see the bigger picture of what’s going on in their lives (the “insight” part of my blog and book name, Hot Flashbacks/Cool Insights). My universal spiritual perspective enables me to help others see how we’re all One. There’s an interconnection: making peace within leads to peace between individuals, and ultimately, a divine domino effect of peace on earth.  Out of that foundation and growing up in a unique and wacky family, come the three things that make my writing hit the mark: I make people think, laugh, and I inspire them.    How can someone get in touch with you?   hotflashbacks@gmail.com   http://hotflashbackscoolinsights.blogspot.com/   http://www.joycemason.com/ SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Meet featured Diva Joyce Mason", url: "http://www.boomerdivanation.org/featured-divas/meet-featured-diva-joyce-mason/" });

Meet featured Diva Leslie Flowers
Platinum Diva Member What challenges are you facing as a woman in business during the downturn in the economy?   I see only opportunity as a woman in this economy. I choose to not participate in the mass conversation of a down economy. There are facts (like rates) but as far as upturn or downturn, that is in the eye of the beholder.   Always — behind every cloud there is a silver lining. Always. It’s based on natural Law. It’s finding the silver lining while inside the cloud, where empowerment breeds. This is the absolute best economy ever for what I do – I teach people how to think for themselves! 2% of People say they think, 3% of people ‘think’ they think, and 95% of people would rather die than think.     What advice would you offer to others who are facing similar challenges? Now is the time to take care of our current clients. Now is the time to go through rolodex files and find past clients and invite them out for a cup of coffee and ask for a referral! Now is the time to give exemplary customer service so that when the economy turns up (as they say) our customers will stay right where they are, rather than be lured away by a fancy storefront or web site.   Do you recommend change at midlife?  Why or why not?  And in what areas?   As soon as you have a hunch that you have a PURPOSE – that is the time to create a positive change, regardless of circumstances. I don’t mean quit your job and find your purpose. I mean appreciate your current revenue generator for what it is, don’t expend a lot of emotion or passion there, and find what it is you love – how you can help others.   It seems midlife is when changes occur — maybe as a result of kids growing up, empty nests, divorces, etc. Or it may be that we at mid life are now particularly aware that we may not have found our purpose.   The worst thing is not to die, but to die with our dreams unfulfilled.   If you were granted three wishes, what would they be?   At end of Q2 2010, I am in the top 10 paid, motivational and inspirational speakers in the world. By end of Q3 2009, I finally met the man of my dreams – a man who loves my fine mind and cherishes, not feels intimidate by my intelligence, focus, and spirituality. By end of Q2 2009, I am driving my new $90k Mercedes Benz.   Tell us three things about you that makes you great at what you do in your business.   ·         I am trained and an excellent listener. I always know that it is better to ‘seek first to understand; then be understood.’* This makes me a great coach. ·         My presentations are filled with personal vignettes – I make a point about the work I do (Bob Proctor’s world class seminars), then I tell a relevant story. I am down to earth and have a good sense of humor. ·         I am excellent at seeing the big picture, without allowing my personal point of view to cloud what is really possible.   How can someone get in touch with you? leslieflowers@lifesuccessconsultants.com; 919 271 4948 www.leslieflowers.lifesuccessconsultants.com    *Habit 5, from Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Meet featured Diva Leslie Flowers", url: "http://www.boomerdivanation.org/featured-divas/meet-featured-diva-leslie-flowers/" });

Meet featured Diva Teri Dempski
Platinum Diva Member Tell us about what it is you do.   I started my online virtual assistant company in 2007, and can handle most administrative tasks, as I have a professional team of subcontractors in place. I am certified as an author’s assistant, and internet marketing virtual assistant. I have found a passion in training people new to Web 2.0 tools for online social media marketing. I train folks both online and offline, though I prefer working online. I am a credentialed elementary teacher and occasionally work as a substitute teacher.   What advice do you have for someone who is interested in following a similar business path?   Research, try different things and then, research some more. If you don’t take risks, you will not be moving forward. I thought I knew what my passion was, but in reality, my passion for what I do came after following others who I thought were amazing. If you try and fail, dust yourself off and try something else—there’s always something that is right around the corner, waiting for you to discover it.   What, in your opinion, does it take to be successful at what you do?   It takes tons of hard work in order to create a credible presence online. Start by learning from those you admire. There is plenty of free training to be had on the internet. I have paid for training and I have received free training that (sometimes) was better than the paid training. You have to be strong, self-motivated, a quick study, and have patience to wait for the return on (the time) investment it takes to become successful.   What, in your opinion, is the main reason people fail in their business endeavors?   Most people expect instant gratification and will give up before they ever achieve success. If you are not really passionate about making (believing) yourself successful, or if you do not have an entrepreneurial spirit embedded in your soul, then maybe you should rethink owning and running a business. Honestly, it’s not for everyone.   What do you want the person reading this to know about you?   That I am passionate about my business and I love what I do. I was born a teacher and naturally flowed into that role in every job I’ve had. I enjoy being friendly with everyone, I like to have fun, stay positive, share inspiration, and motivation. What I'm Doing... Bohtieque at Etsy It Up! http://tinyurl.com/b7yeyx 2009-03-01 OK. Since Sunday, I've read the first three of the Twilight books. Obsessed? Yes. September 17, 2008 Well, actually, Bohtieque is, but that’s beside the point :)  Minefull, who has a great Etsy shop that happens to carry the cutest bucket hat in the world, interviewed me and posted the results up at the the Wisconsin Street Team’s blog.  It’s me in all my rambling glory.   Blush. Now, onto my update:  I was sick as a dog last week.  Sick, I tell you.  I’m still all clogged up in there, but at least I’ve the energy back to do more than whine at T from the comfort of the recliner.  Now, I whine at him at much closer ranges.  Much more effective, you know? J is awesomely awesome, although he’s started to tell me to “Sit DOWN!” quite frequently.  I figured they were trying to teach him to stay seated during snack time and that was affirmed yesterday afternoon when his preschool teacher talked to me about his current progress.  At least he’s not tossing his foot up on the table there like he does at home.   I swear.  WE have no idea where that behavior came from. 2 Comments »

DimDim – Full featured Web Conferencing for Less - Reviews by AppVita
http://www.appvita.com/2009/05/01/dimdim-full-featured-web-conferencing-for-less/

AppVita May 01 DimDim – Full featured Web Conferencing for Less By no means is DimDim the only web conferencing app around. In fact, it’s one of many and a new kid on the block. What separates DimDim is unlike other web conferencing apps, users don’t need a conference call number to access the conference. If a visitor has a microphone, as most computers do, any user can correspond with other members of the web conference. Through DimDim, users can share whiteboards, computer desktops, PowerPoint presentations, and other files. The whiteboard feature allows for multi-page, instant collaboration. What makes DimDim highly competitive with other conference apps is that it is free to use and there’s no additional software to download unless you are using the screen sharing feature. It is also open source, which means that companies can integrate DimDim into their existing infrastructure. For small businesses, these elements are key, as they’ll cut down on travel and communication expenses, while still offering a full-featured web conferencing app. One of the marks against other conference apps is that they’re priced for corporate accounts, and DimDim is affordable for those on a tighter budget, without necessarily sacrificing functionality. Practical Uses: Record your monthly international sales meetings Share your screen with your techie nephew so he can fix your most recent computer malfunction Share video, audio, and text in real time to your students Cut down on travel time by effectively collaborating online in real-time Insider Tips: Make sure your computer is connected to a consistently-fast internet connection Invite people ahead of time using an independent email client, as the invite system in DimDim is a bit clunky and doesn’t always work Go Pro if the free version does not have enough functionality – the pro version has improved audio/video quality and is significantly cheaper than WebEx What we liked: It’s free and open source It’s full featured: able to share audio, video, whiteboard, PowerPoint docs, and more No additional software necessary No conference call in number necessary, saving you long distance costs What we didn’t like: Can be slow-moving even with fast connections – especially when using PowerPoint. Really, this might overshadow everything else, because at times it’s unusable Not entirely user-friendly, though the site boasts about how much easier to use it is than other apps Limited functionality for free accounts – such as poorer video quality Alternatives: GoToMeeting – www.gotomeeting.com Palbee – www.palbee.com Twiddla – www.twiddla.com Vidyo – www.vidyo.com WebEx: www.webex.com Yugma www.yugma.com Company Info: Launched: 2007 Privately Held Headquarters: Methuen, MA Founded by:  DD Ganguly, Jayant Pandit, Saurav Mohapatra, Sundar Subramanian, and Rohit Shankar Web site: www.dimdim.com Costs: Free or $19/month for a Pro account Rating: 4 out of 5 (great) SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "DimDim – Full featured Web Conferencing for Less", url: "http://www.appvita.com/2009/05/01/dimdim-full-featured-web-conferencing-for-less/" }); Author: Henry Baum , May 1, 2009 at 9:27 am Category: Be Social , Get Organized , Save Money , Save Time Interact: Permalink » RSS Feed (Post) » (1) Comment » Comments RSS Feed

Shayne Packer Internet Entrepreneur. Technology Consultant. Home Blog About Shayne Packer Web Hosting Twitter quick start checklist Things that make me chuckle Feb 06 Story of My Life.com - I’ve been featured Internet Add comments My life story is being featured on StoryOfMyLife.com this week, along with my wife, Tanda’s story. It was serendipitous how this came about! I had seen the website and had an impression of how it could be a great resource for grandparents. So I planned to write a review for my GrandparentsTLC.com blog . I was going to contact Story of My Life for more information. My goal was to share with grandparents how they could use the site as a tool write their life stories, then share them with their family. Their stories are stored forever as a legacy for future generations. Then one day a couple of months ago, one of the head people at Story of My Life contacted me saying they would like to feature me and my wife on their website. Well, needless to say, I was thrilled! So they had a professional storyteller interview us and write our stories. When the stories were complete, we reviewed them, and requested a few minor changes. To get information for my review, I had a phone call the lady that originally contacted me. I also suggested that we coordinate the date to feature our stories to coincide with my review. It worked out perfectly! I have to say that the experience was very enjoyable. Tanda and I are impressed with how professional and courteous everyone is at  StoryOfMyLife.com . We feel honored to be featured by Story of My Life. It is an well engineered website, and so easy to use. And it’s free! They are doing wonderful things there. Now that the stories are published, I’ll confess that I didn’t quite know what to expect for the number or readers. I wondered how many readers would click one of the links to my three websites that are listed at the end of the articles. Well, I am totally amazed at the results so far! They really know how to make a story go viral! Views so far on Shayne’s story at Story of My Life: a few thousand in the first 24 hours. 110, 000 in the first 48 hours. Views so far on Tanda’s story at Story of My Life: 16,000 in the first 24 hours. Views for the most popular story there: 548,664 after 255 days. My story was published Wednesday, Feb. 4th, 2009, and Tanda’s was the next day. Please read my review of the Story of My Life website  on GrandparentsTLC.com. It also has the links to our stories on their website.
