PayPerPost Offering the Lowest opportunities to Bloggers
I used to be active in advertising products in my sites for about a year now. When started blog advertising with PPP, the offers were huge (for a PR4 site, about $30-45). Lately, even for PR3 sites, the offers seldom reach $15 per opp. Now, this is the shocking part. Just a few hours ago when I logged in to PPP, I was shocked and saddened by the latest opportunities I’ve found in my dashboard. PPP’s opps are extremely low-priced! At first, I can’t even react. I think my brain froze when I saw these: PPP Opps: Lowest Prices Ever PPP just offered bloggers the lowest rates for each opportunity imaginable! I do not now what’s wrong with PPP. First they introduced affiliate marketing in Izea (a sister company) and now they offer $0.50 (yeah, that’s 50 freaking cents) for several opps. If you have seen this, and you’re also making money from blog advertising, I’m sure you must have felt the same. I have stopped doing review jobs for Izea because of the adaptation of the above-mentioned strategy. Now I think I will stop working for PPP due to the low-priced opps they offer. If this trend goes on, more and more bloggers will turn to other networks like SR, Blogsvertise, Payu2blog, et al.

My daughter, Kait ‘08 and her boyfriend, Adam ‘08, missed the e-mail of a lifetime last night. Adam forgot to take his Blackberry to O’Malleys Bar & Tavern in Boston, where they watched Nova beat Pitt. After the game, Adam’s boss, who is a good friend of Coach Wright, invited Adam and Kait to join Jay Wright, Rollie Massimino and the Wildcat team in a celebratory dinner. Sadly, Adam did not see the e-mail until this morning. He is still kicking himself. As a consolation prize, Adam did get a picture taken during the dinner, which he wanted to share with VUHoops.com’s readers. Jay is sitting to the left, wife Patty center, and Rollie is barely visible behind the Eastern Regional Championship trophy. Ed ‘77 Share and Enjoy:

Creative Writing Course

Markets, Competitions and Opportunities
In this final session in The Crafty Writer’s online creative writing course, I would like to leave you with some advice on how to develop your writing further. If you’re so inclined, you can join a writers’ group (for UK groups; for US and international groups) or an online critiquing group (for poetry and short stories). Be warned though, you may have to ’shop around’ as many of these groups are filled with people who will just nod and smile and not give you constructive advice. Sometimes, you may have to pay for a professional critique to ensure you get a truly objective and constructive perspective. Writing as a hobby Even if you have no interest in earning money from your writing and simply do it for pleasure, it’s good to try and get some of your work published. This will give you a deadline to work towards and the added incentive to develop your writing to the best it can be. Writing competitions Competitions are excellent ways to develop your writing. If you get somewhere, you will be greatly encouraged that someone else thinks you have some ability. Some competitions offer critiques as prizes, which are invaluable, and if you’re lucky, even if you don’t win, one of the judges might offer you some advice. Beware though, many of these competitions ask for an administration fee. You need to decide whether it’s a legitimate fee or just a money-making enterprise. I would be loathe to pay more than £5. Competitions also give you a deadline and a reason to finally finish that masterpiece you started three years ago! The Vanity Trap Beware of competitions that are simply fronts for vanity publishing projects. These are particularly rife in the poetry world, where all ‘winners’ are included in a special bound volume which you have to buy (albeit at a supposedly discounted rate). I must confess I once succumbed to this, believing my poem actually had some merit, only to discover that every poet in my newsroom had also been accepted – and some of their creations were pretty dire. Even worse, one of my colleagues who was short of cash, told the competition organisers that she was happy to have her poem included in the anthology but she couldn’t afford to buy one. Not surprisingly, her poem was suddenly excluded. Poetry Competitions Here are a selection of poetry competitions you may wish to enter. The Poetry Kit – an extensive list of international poetry competitions. Fellows’ Poetry Prize – £1000! Run by the English Association at the Univeristy of Leicester. International Haiku Competition – can you say it in three lines? International Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize – first prize £1,750 or $3,000 US. Women’s Weekly Fiction Series – accepting ongoing poetry submissions; £10 fee (they pay you!) Mark your submission for the ‘Poetry Page’. Plough Poetry Prize - Buxton Poetry Competition Writers’ News and Writing Magazine run poetry competitions all year round. Short Story Competitions Save The Short Story – a comprehensive list of short story competitions and awards. The Save the Short Story Campaign is doing a stirling job raising the profile of the genre, and the website itself is well worth a visit. Writers’ News and Writing Magazine run short story competitions all year round. African Writers’ Prize – for writers who were born in Africa or with parents who are African or who are nationals of an African country and their writing reflects an African sensibility. Willesden Herald International Short Story Competition – first prize £5000, judged by Zadie Smith. Exercise 32 Go through the competitions listed about and choose one. Commit yourself to writing something to send off. If you don’t try, you’ll never know.Send me your exercise and I'll critique it for you! Writing commerically After a bit of success in the competition world (or even without it if you’re brimming with confidence) you may want to actually earn a bit of money from your writing. But don’t be under the illusion that you will be able to live off the proceeds; most writers earn less than the designated British minimum wage – so don’t give up the day job yet! Magazines that publish short stories The Short Story Website – an extensive list of magazines that publish short stories from the people behind Save the Short Story Campaign. Magazines that publish poetry The Poetry Kit – thanks to this fabulous resource listing magazines from around the world that publish poetry, I have no need to re-invent the wheel. Further courses If this course gave you a taste for writing and you would like a bit more input, why not sign up for one of these courses below: Email College – offers free writing courses delivered to your in-box. The Arvon Foundation – highly respected residential short courses based in the UK. The Open University – offer short 10 week correspondence courses, mostly completed online. You will have the benefit of being able to communicate with other students in online conferences and workshops. Book Resources Don’t forget to check out the Crafty Writer Bookshop for writing guides. Affiliate Marketing - Seize the opportunities and Don’t Give Up
Affiliate Marketing, Blogging, Internet Marketing, Motivation & Success, Webmaster/Website Optimization Do-Follow Comments
I have an affiliate marketing website that I built a few months ago. And the keyword is very popular and I have worked hard to get traffic and SERP rank position. As the months went by, I was getting a good amount of traffic but not one single sale! I analyzed and performed the requisite tricks, such as landing page, colors, navigation and other reasons that result in high bounce rates and lack of sales and nothing seemed to work. I soon decided to move onto to other projects. A couple of weeks ago I was checking my commissions and noticed that that website had a couple of sales. And in the last week the sales are increasing and averaging a couple a day. The lesson here is don’t quit till the magic happens. Affiliate marketing and making money online is hard work and can be a crap shoot with lots of testing and failing. But if you give up then you will never reap the success you seek. Many newbies give up quickly because they are looking for a fast buck, but that is not realistic for affiliate marketing and making money online and if you set your mind that way you are destined to be disappointed. Remember, not all websites will generate income right away, if ever, any honest affiliate, especially the honest super affiliates will tell you that. They all have failures on their books, but they also have one thing in common, they never gave up. They know that this is a great business with endless potential, but it has its ups and downs, bad months and good months, successful campaigns and some that are just dead. None of that matters, we move on and push harder. Internet marketing is a lonely business. Most of us sit at home and pluck away at the iceberg, building websites, trying to rank our sites, build links, get traffic and of course make money. It is not easy, but many of us, including myself, love it and would not want to do anything else. Yes? No? Sometimes, there are hard times and we all need the motivation to keep going. So, I am here to tell you to keep plucking away, new sites, new keywords, trial and error, learning from past mistakes, new opportunities and DO NOT GIVE UP! Patience, faith and not giving up is key in making money online and affiliate marketing and the reward of the freedom that it provides in working for yourself is unparallel. A different perspective
Some people like Bruce Clay and Mark from 45n5.com don’t think guest blogging is a good idea – what do you think?
Here’s an idea:
Set up a Google Alert with the keyword guest blogger and set it to blogs to be alerted when bloggers are actively seeking guest posts.

Prospect For New opportunities in 2009
December 13, 2008 by Reba Filed under Blog, Goal Setting, Hot Topics
This is Day 7 of 10 of my tips to help you increase your online business profits in 2009. By making just a few changes in the ways you handle a few little things each day, you can grow your business and increase your profits substantially. Stay tuned over the next ten days and I will share ten important ideas that can help you increase your business and grow your profits in 2009. Day 7 - PROSPECT FOR NEW opportunities IN 2009 In order to achieve more success and earn more money you must seek out new opportunities and then grab them! You’ll need to do some prospecting to find opportunities that will help you succeed. Prospecting comes in many forms, you can do it small scale and seek out clients who need your services or products on forums. Or, you can go large scale where you look to land JV’s (Joint Ventures) or invest in a business, find new niches, etc. Prospecting can land you one extra deal this year or it can land you 1,000 extra deals! Even if you only successfully obtain one client or make only one sale as a direct result of extra ‘prospecting,’ you will enhance your business and increase your profits. Be brave, go out and see what’s hot — and what people want. It’s very easy to stick with what you already know and are routinely doing on a daily or weekly basis. But, if you take the time to prospect a little bit and pretend like it’s the beginning of your online career again, you’ll start to see fresh opportunities and money making ideas everywhere. And you will certainly find an opportunity (or two) that will lead to a long term income and profit stream. Remember, you’re working on growing your business. Even though prospecting for clients should be continuous, it may not be feasible to prospect for new business ideas and ventures continuously. However, once every year or two it’s good to take a look at your business, update, upgrade, and take your business to the next level, no matter how small or large your business is. Prospect for new clients and prospect for new business ideas — Prospect. Tomorrow - Day 8 DOUBLE UP Cheers! Student Loan Rate Cut Opportunities
Submitted by G.E. Miller on Wednesday, 15 July 20096 Comments
Whether you’ve graduated recently or you’re thinking about going back to school, there are some appealing rate cuts that you could take advantage of. This is potentially a great opportunity to strategically slice your interest rates, with a little homework. Rate Cuts on Those Going Back to School (or Beginning) Recently, subsidized Stafford loan rates were cut from 6 to 5.6%. And it’s going to get a lot better. Here’s how the rates shake out over the next few years: July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010 = 5.6% July 1, 2010 – June 30, 2011 = 4.5% July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012 = 3.4% Keep in mind that these are the subsidized versions of Stafford loans, meaning that you have proven you need the loan assistance. If unsubsidized, Stafford loans remain steady at 6.8%, which is what the subsidized versions will return to in mid – 2012. To find out if you’re eligible for a Stafford loan, check out the resources at the end of the post. If you’re thinking of going back to school at some point, but not quite sure when, it might be worth taking the upcoming rate cuts into consideration. Rate Cuts for those who have Already Taken Out Loans If you had taken out federal loans before July 1, 2006, the repayment interest rate on those loans has recently dropped from 4.21% to 2.48%. If you consolidate, you can lock in a rate of 2.5% for the life of the loan. If you are in your six month post-grad grace period, you can lock in a rate of 2%. If you have Federal PLUS loans, rate have dropped from 5.01% to 3.38%. PLUS loan borrowers who consolidate can lock in a rate of 3.38%. Whether you’ve taken out federal loans or PLUS, there don’t seem to be many downsides in locking in a low rate now. Want to Get a Subsidized Stafford Loan? The first step is to apply on the official U.S. government FAFSA site (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) You can also find out more about Stafford loans at the: U.S. Department of Education Stafford loan site If you found this article helpful, you can subscribe to the 20somethingfinance RSS feed, or sign up for free email updates. There are a lot of people looking for work at home opportunities out there, and with the U.S. economy sliding backwards it seems like there are more joining their ranks every day.
I’m a big fan of small business start ups and encourage people to take control (and responsibility) of their lives and finances. It’s not easy–anyone who tells you it is is a liar!–but thanks to the technology and global marketplace the Internet provides it isn’t out of anyone’s reach either–if they’re willing to apply themselves. That’s my belief based on my experience.
Unfortunately, there are hordes of folks out there who take advantage of the desire (and desperations) of people who want to start their own online ventures but lack the basic knowledge and vision for getting it from idea to honest income. They create and promote garbage “cash systems” and “wealth building ebooks” that will give you some insights, but almost never provide a clear and concise strategy to follow.
If you’re going to work for yourself then you have to be a little creative. Starting an online business is no different than starting a brick and mortar business. You have to offer a product or service that people will pay for, and then be better than the competition so those people pay you for it. It’s the old “build a better mouse trap” theory.
I’d bet that 99.9% of the start ups out there aren’t unique or original ideas, the ones that succeed are just those who located a need that wasn’t being completely filled already; then packaged and presented their offerings better than everybody else was doing.
Think YouTube, MySpace or Facebook were unique or original? Nope. They’re built on the concepts of “online community” and “file sharing”, both of which are as old as the Internet itself. Long before web sites, as far back as the 1970’s, people were gathering together in online communities known as Usenet Newsgroups. In the 1980’s they began sharing files with each other there too.
What people are doing today on YouTube, Facebook and similar sites is just an expansion and repackaging of what folks have been doing online for decades already. They’re better mousetraps.
So, how can you apply this to your own situation? Just open your eyes and look for the opportunity you can leverage. Maybe you have knowledge on a topic that isn’t being covered well enough anywhere, that’s an opportunity for your own web site or blog. It’s also an opportunity to approach the editor(s) of existing ezines and communities in that field to become a content contributor.
Maybe you enjoy programming, and like me find the faults in every new software title you use. There’s an opportunity for your own program or to approach the developers of an existing program with a pitch.
Whatever your areas of interest and expertise may be, there are honest work from home opportunities out there for you, and you don’t have to buy anyone’s “system” or “plan” to find them. Be smart and creative, be proactive, be willing to create the opportunity for yourself.

A Bit of Bizphere’s Real Life
10 Sep, 2008
Life and Society
Just when I began to understand and enjoy the benefits of online marketing stuffs,
offline job opportunities
are opening its doors for me. Oftentimes I’m somewhat in dilemma whether to grab them or not. The hard thing is that they come in very fast and unexpected that I’m usually only given a very short time to decide.
Yesterday, a personnel of an
agency for skilled workers
called me on the phone to follow up my application as a skilled worker for Canada. Those application papers were submitted one year ago and I have already forgotten it.
I was asked if I could come down immediately for an interview as a welder. If not, they will cancel me from the line up of interviewees.
Although I calculated that I could still make it and be in that office just in time for the interview, my mind was bothered with many concerns. I’m totally unprepared. I may just screw up during the questioning. Physically, I’m not conditioned for the long travel.
My very last job as a welder was five years ago and I doubt that there’s any chance I would be accepted if the basis for selection is recency of related work experiences as most Canadian employers would require.
I have to decide fast and because I didn’t want to make the person on the other line, who was actually the manager as I recognized his voice, become impatient waiting for my reply, I just casually said, “Okay, I can’t come just cancel me from the lineup”.
After bringing down the phone I felt something like I just lost a good opportunity. Stupid Bizphere. Stupid.
If only the place of interview is not that too far from my place, that’s more than six hours of grueling travel, I should have taken the chance and went for that interview no matter what the results maybe. Sometimes it’s hard making hasty decisions in just a spur of a moment.

As you are probably aware, affiliate (aka associate) marketing is when one internet business/website offers a commission per sale, or other criteria, for each visitor that came from the other website’s affiliate link. These programs have proven to be very successful for some and not so successful for others. The good thing about these programs is that you do not keep any product inventory on hand and there is normally no expense, other than for maintaining your website. You are just the middle man, getting paid for referring a customer to the receiving site.
One of the lesser known, and a personal favorite is the
Gomez PEER program
. This is one of the few that runs on a pc and is not ran via a website. You can earn some pretty decent money for doing nothing but having an active internet connection and running your computer with it in your system tray. The most sought after affiliates for the Gomez Peer program are those people with computers anywhere in Australia, South America, or Mexico, and any computer with dial up connections in the USA, parts of Asia, and Europe.
Gomez Peer program
An excellent resource for the various affiliate programs is
Associate Programs dot com
. Associate Programs has an extensive list of affiliate programs, broken down by topic. Also, they also have a very nice selection of articles for the beginner all the way to the advanced affiliate.
Important Tips for Affiliate Marketers:
Need ideas?
Look at what is selling well and getting great reviews. Maybe it’s something new on the market. Well, visit the manufacturer or seller website and see if they have an affiliate program. If so, you could be one of the first to use it, which could mean a great start for you because you may not have much competition.
Once you’ve decided on a few possibilities, take the time to
investigate the seller and their program
. I don’t mean just look at their site, but look for reviews about the program. You don’t want your visitor to leave your site happy, only to become upset with the result of the other site and their service. There are way too many great affiliate programs out there to saddle yourself with a bad one. Just because they may offer a high commission does not that they are worth it.
The Design.
Once you have narrowed it down to one or more affiliate programs, then you begin putting the links in your website. There are a variety of things to consider. Sometimes it would be appropriate to make the affiliate link look less like an advertisement and more like just a simple picture or text link. Usually this means blending the text link colors with the surrounding parts of the web page or putting the picture or banner near other pictures of similar size. Other times, you may want to be upfront with your visitor that this is an affiliate program. If you point out that the money from them buying via the affiliate link would go toward this, their favorite website, or toward a great cause, then they may feel like buying through you as apposed to going direct.
Presell the products.
That is when you “warm up your visitors” to the idea of considering the product that the seller sells. You do not sell the product to the visitor, that is the job of the seller. It is your testimony or opinion that the visitor wants. Then they decide to investigate the offer by clicking on the link. Your job is done, until next time.
Unlike the example I am setting right here,
do not bother trying to sell others on the idea of becoming an affiliate
. There are thousands of sites out there already trying to do that right now. Instead, sell the product to the customer, not the idea of becoming an affiliate. In other words, create about the various products and then sell those via your affiliate links. If you have a trusting audience for your site, they will consider your opinion as an endorsement of the product. This goes back to my point that I made in the previous paragraph, that being, ‘don’t sell something that you wouldn’t use yourself’, better yet, ‘don’t sell a product you haven’t used yourself’.
Be creative.
Don’t repeat the same old methodologies of other sites. That’s not to say that you should reinvent the wheel in terms of designing a website or page in an efficient or logical manner. What I mean is; try to make the experience of visiting your site memorable or at least worthwhile. The preferred thing is to have the visitor come back again and maybe even tell a friend. This may include interactive things on your site, such as games or web-based tools for them to use.
Already selling your own stuff?
If you have your own products to sell, affiliate programs can be a great way of increasing the types of products available without increasing your own expenses or taking up room with inventory. You could then direct your customer to the other businesses that compliment your own.
Go get em tiger! Rawr!

CTMLS vs. Fairfield County Multiple Listing Services December 29th, 2008 categories: Central Connecticut News & Information, Real Estate Industry Connecticut business News Journal published an article earlier this year about the trouble CTMLS, the almost statewide multiple listing service, is having convincing agents, brokers and local realtor associations in Fairfield County to give up their local MLS service in exchange for a united, statewide MLS. I was reminded of this when I received an e-mail from CTMLS announcing that Westchester-Putnam MLS has signed a reciprocal agreement with CTMLS, allowing the sharing of information listings between Litchfield, Hartford, New Haven, Middlesex, Tolland, Windham and New London counties in CT and Westchester and Putnam counties in NY. Notice I left out Fairfield County, which is home to four multiple listing services, none of whom share their listings with the CTMLS or Westchester-Putnam MLS. Realtors and brokers in Fairfield county who want to expose their listings to buyers outside the county, must join the statewide MLS in addition to their local MLS, creating competition where there should be cooperation. Five, Count ‘Em Five, Multiple Listing Services in CT Until 2007, there were six different multiple listing services in all of Connecticut. The problem with so many multiple listing services was that in order for an agent to access every listing in the state, an agent literally had to belong to all six six services. In practice, most belonged to one or two - which meant the following for home buyers and sellers: Duplicate listings. One listing for Eastern CT MLS (New London and Windham counties) and another for Co-op MLS (New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield, Tolland and Middlesex) if the property was in a border town such as Lebanon. Missed opportunities. If a buyer is looking for an antique colonial on 6 acres and their agent only belonged to the Co-op MLS but the perfect property was located in Lebanon (just across the county line), the agent would have only had access to the public Eastern CTMLS website and could have missed the perfect property and similarly the seller would have missed an opportunity to sell their home. Almost two years later, the local Fairfield County boards, agents and brokers seem no closer to joining CTMLS, which means these above scenarios still take place today, even in a state as geographically small as CT. We share information with Rhode Island, two counties in New York but not with our own county of Fairfield. And in the e-mail I received, you can tell there is great annoyance and a desire to shame Realtors into sharing their listings and creating one MLS: “The Connecticut Statewide MLS is owned by the Connecticut Association of REALTORS®, Inc. and is not affiliated with the Greater Fairfield County Consolidated MLS, which does not offer access to the Westchester-Putnam MLS or expose Fairfield County real estate to Westchester-Putnam MLS members.” Realtors in Fairfield County seem to feel that having four multiple listing services in Fairfield County and another for the rest of the state benefits buyers and sellers. How is this even possible? Fair Market Value Can’t Be Achieved Without A Competitive and Open Market Fair market value is defined as “the most probable price which a property should bring in a competitive and open market under all conditions requisite to a fair sale, the buyer and seller each acting prudently and knowledgeably, and assuming the price is not affected by undue stimulus.” How can Realtors in Fairfield County claim to offer their home sellers a competitive and open market if there is a barrier to the sharing of information with agents in other areas of the state? Blogging strategies that work without a blog
July 17th, 2008 categories: Mortgage Blogs / Social Media
The blogging hype may be overwhelming and slightly discouraging for loan originators who are searching for new ways of building business. A blog requires a significant time commitment and a certain level of technical savvy to be successful. Here are 6 specific principles bloggers follow that you can implement into your own marketing and relationship building campaigns without even owning a blog: 1. Permission Marketing Giving your clients valuable information on their terms will build relationships instead of lead lists. 2. Thought Leadership Your commitment to regularly educate clients and referral partners on a particular topic brands you as an authority reference. 3. Viral Exposure Blog articles get found in the search engines because people spread the word by pointing links back to that article. The same strategy applies if you have a valuable newsletter, white paper, email, or online flyer that your referral partners can use to benefit their own business building agendas. 4. Cross-Promotion Bloggers share some of their favorite blogs with readers by categorizing them in a blogroll section. This isn’t used as a means of generating advertising revenue, it is simply a way to provide their readers with more valuable resources and help other bloggers get more exposure. If you have a newsletter, make sure to mention some of your referral partners. Third party endorsement from a trusted voice is the best form of promotion. Encourage your referral partners to do the same for you. 5. Education through Conversation Blogs have a comment section so readers can give the author feedback in a social environment Get permission from your referral partners to send out a specific group email where everyone’s contact info is exposed. Find something valuable to discuss and start an easy email conversation. I’ve had success using that stragegy with my investors becuase of the networking opportunities it creates. 6. Leave a Footprint Bloggers comment in forums, on other people’s blog articles, register in directories, and create profile pages in online social networks to expand their online reach. There are several free directories, neighborhood newspapers, and other people’s newsletters you can be part of. Try guest writing an article in one of your referral partner’s monthly newsletters. If they don’t have a newsletter, create one for them and make your story the featured article. Basically, get your name and contact information out there.
