Ok, setelah dasar tentang blogging & Internet Marketing dibahas, maka topik kali ini adalah “Relevansi“. Sebelum kita mendalami hal ini, mari kita telusuri lebih jauh terlebih dahulu “rimba” Internet ini. Contoh Nyata Search Engine terbesar di dunia, Google. Jika Anda berada di negara Indonesia, apakah yang akan terjadi ketika Anda mengetik situs Google.com ?. Yap, yang terbuka adalah google.co.id. Sama hal-nya jika Anda berada di Malaysia, Singapore, India , Australia, web Google yang terbuka akan disesuaikan dengan negara masing-masing . Contoh kedua. Yahoo! Mail. Ketika Anda registrasi email baru dan memilih pilihan negara “Indonesia”, maka tampilan utama email dan bahasa yang digunakan adalah Indonesia. Masih banyak contoh lain-nya seperti : Friendster, Paypal, eBay , Facebok, MSN, Blogspot, Wordpress, Adwords. Semua situs ini mengedepankan “Relevansi” berdasarkan negara asal pemakai-nya (user) atau memberikan pilihan bahasa. Kenapa harus Relevansi ? Mari kita selidiki terlebih dahulu cara Google menampilkan hasil pencarian. Setiap “keyword” yang diketik, Google berusaha menampilkan hasil terbaik yang berkaitan dengan keyword Anda, ini termasuk juga iklan adwords yang terdapat di samping kanan hasil pencarian. Anda tentunya tidak ingin mendapatkan hasil pencarian yang tidak sesuai, ya ga ? Jadi bagaimana Google melakukan semua ini ? Google memberikan arahan melalui Google Webmaster Guidelines bahwa setiap isi webpage harus sesuai dengan topik yang dibahas dan terpenting mengandung “keyword” yang relevan. Nah saat Webpage anda dikunjungi oleh Googlebot (web spider) dan melakuan indeks terhadap website Anda, maka Google akan “menempatkan” Website Anda sesuai dengan keyword tersebut. Perhatikan gambar diatas, saya memasukkan keyword “laptop bags” dan kalau Anda scroll ke bawah akan terlihat “Searches related to”. Google berusaha menampilkan hasil pencarian yang berkaitan. Oleh sebab itu lah mengapa program iklan Google Adwords merupakan yang sukses dan terbaik saat ini, karena para publisher-nya (pemasang iklan Adsense) juga berusaha membuat website dan semaksimal mungkin menggunakan keyword yang sesuai. Google Webmaster Tools Sangat disarankan untuk Anda pemilik website (website yang memakai hostingan) untuk memakai Tools yang di sediakan oleh Google di Google Webmaster Tools (gratis). Melalui tools ini kita berusaha semaksimal mungkin untuk mengoptimalkan website kita dengan memberitahu Google target lokasi website kita, lokasi file sitemap, dlsb. Selain itu, dengan Tools ini kita bisa memantau trafik website kita dengan memperhatikan keyword apa saja yang muncul dan posisi website kita untuk keyword tersebut. Highlight warna biru pada suatu link berarti “Follow” dan warna merah berarti “NoFollow”. Gluten Free Goodness Gluten Free Whole Food Kitchen Experiments with NO gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, or corn « Menu Plan Monday Feb 16th–Comfort food Menu Plan Monday Feb 23rd » Weekend Herb Blogging-170 Roundup Well, I’m delighted to host my first WHB roundup.  It’s so much fun to see the fabulous things people have put together from all around the globe. Y’all are some amazing photographers!   It’s also put my “slacker-licous” nature to shame.  I always send things in under the wire, other people send things out on Monday! Here’s to the host for this week (starting Feb 16th)  WHB 171, Susan from The Well-Seasoned Cook. And to my usual readers, yes, some of these dishes contain gluten.  First time for everything.  Most actually don’t. Anna of  Morsels & Musings of Sydney, Australia brings in a lovely Esquite (Mexican corn snack). Her experience with Mexican food has come from dear friends, and I must say, it seems they’ve taught her well!  She uses Tajin in the dish, which is made of chili peppers and dehydrated lime.  She also provides some great background info  on corn.  I can’t help wondering if corn is in season in her neck of the woods.  Here in the States, summertime corn is a distant memory. Maggie of Say Yes to Salad joins us from Mountain View, CA, which is why it’s warm enough for her to pick up some golden beets at her local Farmer’s market.  She’s embarking on a macrobiotic diet and missing her fruit, but loving her new discoveries.   She reports that the golden beets stain less and are sweeter than their redder cousins TS and JS of [eatingclub] vancouver drop in from chilly Vancouver, Canada to share their Hazelnut Gremolata that came to her in a dream! Really, you can’t beat that as a descriptor. She gives several links for ways to use it in a Portugese meal, and will post more soon. Believe it or not, I almost forgot to include mine: Red Pepper Sauce, which features fresh thyme from my garden.  First, it’s my DH’s absolute favorite, which is why we made it for Valentine’s day!  It’s a great way to add vitamin C and a whole truckload of yum to any dish. Kalyn’s Kitchen is the original mommy of WHB, and as always, graces us with a South Beach ready Pressure Cooker Recipe for Pinto Bean and Ground Beef Stew with Cumin and Cilantro. On first glance, it looks like chili, but it’s a milder dish featuring cilantro, one of the yummiest herbs out there (IMHO) Jude, of Apple Pie, Patis and Pate shares his Afelia – Pork Braised with Red Wine and Coriander Seeds. This classic Cypriot dish gets much of its flavor from the overnight marination and coriander seeds. Did someone say dulce de leche? Dhanggit celebrates and great salary and combines some of the most incredible flavors on the planet in the form of Banana Almond Dulce De Leche Bread. Seriously, it looks worth a trip to France to have a slice Joanne, from Boston is another fan of cilantro and shares lovely sentiments for Valentine’s day AND her Mashed Eggplant and Tomato Salad on her blog Eats Well With Others. It’s an adaption from a Middle Eastern cookbook. Brii from briiblog is living in Valsorda, on the most beautiful lake of Italy, the Garda Lake (her words–I wish I knew from experience!). She shares her simple, yet elegant Maize and Ricotta cake, which appears blissfully gluten and sugar free! Susan of The Well-Seasoned Cook and our host for the upcoming week joins us from NY with a decidedly spicy twist: Cajun Fried Okra with Remoulade Sauce. This is part of her successful plot to reach a happy gastronomic arrangement with okra, a former nemesis. My spam filter seems to have gotten hungry and swallowed some of the emails.  Check these out, too! Haalo, who is kind enough to host WHB, graces us with Wasabi Leaf Vichyssoise. Wasabi leaves are a member of the mustard family, and apparently quite mild when raw.  She’s able to find them at her local market. Jeanne  of Cook sister drops by from London to share her Warm Potato Salad with onion, dill and mustard.  The salad was conceived by accident by her brother, and features dill as the herb of choice. Cinczia of Cindystarbrings our second entry from Lake of Garda, Italy.  She shares her Candied Orange Zest and is kind enough to give us the scoop in English, too, which is awesome to me because it’s one of my DH’s favorites! Please do note, my gluten free friends, that some of the recipes just happen naturally and lusciously be gluten free, but not all are. Elizabeth from Blog from Our Kitchen in Toronto, Canada joins us with Stir Fried Asparagus with Peanut Chili Sauce, featuring  Black beans and ginger.  I’m very jealous that asparagus is still in season for her, and she recommends pairing it with her Jaggerty Chicken. In this heat, it’s hard to remember that some people are in the middle of winter! “Another Outspoken Female” is representing the Southern Hemisphere in Melbourne, Australia, and sends us her recipe for a winter warming tea, featuring hibiscus.  Her blog is  Confessions of a food nazi, which features healthy and unprocessed foods…at least most of the time. Anh, of Food Lover’s Journey joins us from Sydney, Australia with delightful Sesame and Tofu free for Biscuits. These Korean treats are  not just made using sesame, they’re black sesame.  I’ve always liked black sesame because it looks more dramatic, but I didn’t realize that they’re more nutritious, and higher in minerals.  It aways works out when the healthiest things are the tastiest! I’m Cheryl of Gluten Free Goodness from Alexandria, VA and I shared my Lemony Mint Quinoa.  I must have 101 ways to make quinoa, and I love it because it’s so yummy, quick, easy and nutritious (and naturally gluten free!)  It was the perfect thing to take along on a long car ride to see my sister and her new baby.  Much nicer than anything you can get at a rest area! Pam of Sidewalk Shoes brings along a beautiful, garden fresh homemade pesto and some good advice!  She shares a recipe for this summertime classic, which can be easily frozen.  Apparently basil should be harvested every month (mental note: must go harvest basil) and now she has a bunch for the freezer. Winnie Abramson of Healthy Green Kitchen joins Weekend Herb blogging for her first time (welcome, Winnie!).  She hails from New Paltz, NY and she’s shared a recipe for a homegrown herb and flower salad, featuring tasty flowers like nasturtiums, a variety of different herbs, and dried fruit.  Sounds delish! Who needs retail therapy when there’s kitchen therapy?  Dhanggit of Dhanggit’s Kitchen joins us from Aix en Provence, France and shares a seasonal Raspberry Vodka Granita designed to lift her spirits (no pun intended).  The pictures are so vivid you can almost feel the ice! Kalyn of Kalyn’s Kitchen, the wizard behind Weekend Herb Blogging, joins us from Utah with her Tuscan Baked Eggs with Tomatoes, Red Onion, Parmesan and Thyme. While it doesn’t use a lot of thyme, it really makes the dish and adds depth to the tomato sauce. This naturally gluten free dish is a nice twist on brunch or any light meal. Haalo of Cook Anything At Least Once has done a wonderful job in taking over from Kalyn as the resident WHB hostess, and she joins us with Baked apples, featuring Pink Lady apples, which are native to Australia.  The recipe features pomegranate seeds, and is a winner in taste! Fruits and veggies are supposed to do wonders for your complexion, and Brii from Briiblog gives us a nice way to prove it with her Apricot Face Moisturizing Mask.  Brii is from Valsorda on the Garda Lake.  As she says, no miracles, but it’s very relaxing. 1. Blogs increase communication Anytime you increase communication, you increase profile and sales. 2. Although blogs have been around for awhile, they are still new and topical. People who see that you have a blog will think you are more leading edge. In real estate, you need all the advantages you can get. 3. Owning a blog is like owning a media. Similar to a newspaper, magazine, or a radio station. The advantage of owning a media is that you can say whatever you want where all other media tend to filter what you have to say. 4. blogging like writing tends to make you an expert. People tend to believe what they read. For this reason you don’t want your blog to be totally self-promotional. Add value. Provide information that helps your customer, amuses them, teaches them etc. You will become the leading real estate expert in your area. 5. A blog should have an angle. People don’t want to log on and hear some promotional material about you and your real estate company. They want to hear something that is a bit edgy, interesting, humorous, and resonates with them. Although you own a media, you still are in competition with all of the other real estate media available. 6. blogging will often get picked up by other media and this added press can help you sell. For example, the biggest real estate blogs get picked up by mainstream media as a resource. If you build your blog that attracts readers, journalists will find your blog as well and use you in their stories. Almost like “free” advertising and further making you the real estate expert in your community. Eine kritische Bestandsaufnahme der deutschen Blogosphäre im Jahr 2008. Vor wenigen Tagen hat mich jemand offen gefragt, was ich von seinem Blog halte und wie viel dieser möglicherweise wert ist. Die grundsätzliche Idee hinter dem Blog ist sehr gut, jedoch bei der Umsetzung gab es leider nichts Neues. Es werden dort längst verbreitete News wiedergegeben. In der Regel ohne Bewertung oder eigenes Statement und häufig viel zu kompliziert geschrieben. Ich bin nicht Robert Basic und keines meiner Blogs taucht in den Blogcharts auf. Außerdem lese ich max. 5 Blogs dieser Charts halbwegs regelmäßig. Darüber hinaus habe ich keine journalistische Ausbildung oder etwas Ähnliches. Damit möchte ich klarstellen, dass die folgenden Zeilen meine persönliche Meinung sind und keineswegs als der Weisheit letzter Schluss angesehen werden sollten. Ich bewege mich außerdem in einem kleinen Teil der Blogosphäre die sich mit dem Thema Mac & Apple sowie SEO & blogging beschäftigt. Blogs in Deutschland 2008 Wie sieht es denn nun aus in der Blogosphäre im Jahr 2008? Nachrichtenwiedergabe Meines Erachtens blubbern mind. 90 Prozent der deutschen Blogs lediglich Nachrichten/News wieder, die längst in der Blogosphäre verbreitet sind. Das WordPress 2.7 oder was auch immer erschienen ist, bekommt man in der Regel schnell genug mit. Bei jeder neuen Version kann man das trotzdem in mind. 50+ Blogs lesen. Spätestens beim dritten Blog interessiert das einfach nicht mehr. Langweilig und schlecht umgesetzt Aus dem o.g. Punkt resultiert ein weiteres Symptom. Die meisten Blogs sind absolut langweilig und bieten überhaupt keinen Mehrwert. Es fehlen persönliche Stellungnahmen, echte Hilfestellungen oder einfach interessant geschriebene Texte. Einige Blogger schreiben im SMS-Stil – andere seitenlangen Fließtext. Was ist so schwer daran den Text in logische Abschnitte, im besten Fall mit Zwischenüberschriften, einzuteilen? In meinem Artikel »6 Schritte zu gut lesbaren Texten für das Web« kann man nachlesen wie man es machen sollte. SEO als Blogthema Ein weiterer Punkt der wirklich komisch ist, dass sich jeder zum SEO-Jünger erklärt. Ich glaube es gibt mittlerweile mehr SEO-Blogs als welche über Musik oder Kaffee. Als Blog-Neuanfänger in einen Markt einzudringen der längst gesättigt ist, ist dumm. Sicherlich ist SEO ein notwendiges Handwerkszeug beim Blogging, aber sollte nicht zum Blogthema selber werden. Meine ausführlichen Gedanken zum Thema kann man im Artikel »Ist “Geld verdienen” und “SEO” wirklich eine Nische?« nachlesen. Die Nische in der Nische in der Nische (…) ist der Weg zum Erfolg. Von daher ist selbst dieses Blog sehr fragwürdig. Allein auf weiter Flur Viele Blogger versuchen ihr Glück im Kampf um Leser vollkommen allein. Das gleicht einem Kampf gegen Windmühlen den man nicht gewinnen kann. In meinem Feedreader sind nur wenige deutsche Blogs, die von mehreren Autoren geschrieben werden. Erstaunlicherweise sind diese aber durchaus erfolgreich – vielleicht nicht kommerziell aber was Stammleser und Kommentare angeht. Ich würde mich freuen, wenn es mehr Blogs mit mehreren Autoren geben würde. Aus eigener Erfahrung weiß ich aber, dass es nicht einfach ist jemanden zu finden, der die „gleiche Denke“ hat und auch was Qualität angeht genauso tickt. (Ich suche übrigens Gastautoren für das blogging Magazin.) Ich weiß, dass ich mich mit diesem Artikel weit aus dem Fenster gelehnt habe. Möglicherweise sehe ich die Dinge auch vollkommen falsch?! Welche deutschen Blogs sollte man denn lesen? Und, wie seht Ihr das?
