Proof that Nofollow = Quality Comments:Visit the best Science Blogs.
Do you remember Shoemoney’s Pamcake’s eyerolls at the idea that “Nofollow” blogs have good comments? Well, if you need any proof, visit the two blogs currently neck and neck in the “2007: best Weblogs” contest. At both Climate Audit and Bad Astronomy, you’ll find plenty of heated debate. The things you won’t find are: Automated Spam Comments Over SEO’d comment “names” and Pink link condoms on the author url links. In fact, while you will see link condoms in the comment content at Climate Audit, it appears that “Bad Astronomy” is full boar nofollow, giving real “follows” to links in author names, in comment content and trackbacks. What are the two blogs discussing currently? To some extent both blogs are discussing the 2007 Weblog awards which became rather contentious. (In comments on some blogs, some are acting as if the outcome of this blog award will determine national policy on Global Climate Change.) The winner of the competition was scheduled to be announced last night– but the decision was deferred due to voting irregularities which included voting that continued for as much as four hours after poll had closed. The organizers are evidently combing through the data in an attempt to figure out which of the tens of thousands of votes cast were cast by zombie ‘bots. The winner will be decreed on Monday! (Update, Friday 3:26 pm CST: WeblogsAwards has just officially decreed the “race” a tie.) Zombie ‘bots voted?! For those of you wondering whether ‘zombie bot voting was possible, evidently, it was easy! No-Oblimimal has described how to hack Weblog Awards (2007.weblogawards.org/) flimsy ballot security, and what Webblog Awards’s programmers could have done to prevent the ballot stuffing by ‘zombie bots. (It seems the voting system was less secure than my blog comments!) Hmm… Political Controversy +Internet voting = Zombie bot ballot stuffing. I think I’m now against internet voting in real elections. (Not that I was ever for it.) Oh, and despite Pamcakes eyerolls, I am keeping the “follow” on my comments. Tags:contests Weblogs

UnSpun has a list of the top blogs for Biblical Studies. Withering Fig is a glaring omission, but that’s OK…I’ll live to blog another day.
There are some surprises, however. For example, Josh McManaway with his blog
“A New Testament Student”
currently comes in at #9. By calling this a “surprise,” I do not mean to impugn Josh’s blog or his blogging abilities. Rather, I am just surprised that it ranks so highly considering how new it is! So, good work Josh. He and I have exchanged some emails, and he’s a downright pleasant dude!
Of course, all that said, I have no idea how this ranking system works. But get out and vote! I’m sure it’ll change your life!

What are the
best ad programs
to use when it comes to blogs?
It is not as complicated as you might find it to be. Of course we have talked about adsense and the perks and the reliability it comes with, but what if you are not too keen on using the
adsense
program, what else can you turn to?
Chitika
is another excellent ad program for your new blog.
Chitika targets the content of your blog page by displaying relevant advertising to your chosen blog topic.
If your blog is about hip-hop music, or politics, Chitika will ensure that your page’s ads will coincide with your blog’s topic.
This program is excellent, they send you payment every month, and it can be a great way to earn some money off of your page.
But do not shun adsense out just yet; remember it is the leader in advertising and making a profit.
Try testing both of them at various times.
Try adsense for exactly one month, and track and see what your profit comes out to at the end of your month.
Then when the next month rolls around, try out Chitika, or any other ad program.
Try to do what works well for you, remember that it is all about experimentation.
Do a split test and figure out which ad program is going to make you a bigger profit.
If you are not happy with either one of those, try asking fellow bloggers, and finding out what has worked for them and what has not worked for them.
You might find a fellow blogger that is a bit more seasoned to the blogging world, take them up on some of their advice, and build yourself from there.
Remember not to get discouraged if you are not making money right away, pick and choose, use programs on a trial basis and determine from there.
There are hundreds of ad programs out there, and the two that were compared are among the leaders in the ad program world, the key is just to find what works for you, and how you utilize it.
Figure out the INS and the OUTS to your chosen ad program; know how to work the system.
You have received a ton of information regarding Google adsense and how it can help you, and how you can make some money.
Everything you read online may make the process seem quick and painless, but getting out there and getting heard can be the hardest part in the blogging world.
If you are working with Google Adsense use this program to your full advantage.
Search for any tips that you can get, take the tutorials, ask for advice, and get help.
There are message boards for Google adsense all over the internet, take the time to look and get your answers and your knowledge.
Be careful not to get in over head, and just dive into the pool before you know how to swim.
We all would love to make money being our own boss and working from home using online advertising for our sites and out blogs.
As long as you do your homework first, take your notes, and pass your tests you should eventually be at where you would like to be in the blogging and advertising world.
Do not forget about your Google Adsense blog positions, your page’s color schemes, and weather or not to use either a CPC, or a CPA.
Utilize your channels in every way possible to maximize and profit, and make sure you choose the right ad program for your blog. It does not come quick, so remember not to quit your full time job just yet!
So, here is a list of ad programs which you might want to take into consideration:
Google Adsense
Adsdaq
Tribalfusion
Valueclick
Bidvertiser
Yahoo Publisher
Chitika
Azoogle
Zango Cash
Adbrite
I must say that I had most earnings with Google Adsense. There is no program that can keep up with the large pool of advertisers behind it. A very important factor for the amout onf clicks which you get is the relevancy of the ads. Nobody would click on real estate ads on a website about dogs… Almost all other ad programs do not have real targeted ads, resulting in lesser clicks and lesser money.
If you don’t get a long with CPC programs where you get paid per click then I recommend you to test CPM programs. They pay you per thousand impressions. They are usually used for forums but might as well work relatively good with your blog. My favorite one is adsdaq. They have good support and a very easy to use ad-managing system. Everything for managing is made with ajax (lol, I love web 2.0ish ajax). If you like then you can set me as a referral (hendrik kleinwaechter). You can set the price of the every impression on your website, so you get at least the amount of money that you were looking for. You however won’t be able to fill the adspot completely, no problem, you can set google ads as alternate ads very quickly.
The
best support
undoubtedly has Tribalfusion. Really, you can call them, email them or IM them and you will get an answer within an hour. The account manager sets everything up for you! They are very helpful and I really appreciated that when I started working with them on one of my forums. They payouts weren’t that good.
I also once tried Adbrite but made really bad experiences with them…. Earning 30$ a day with Adsense I got .50 $ with them. Was really disappointed and moved away from them.
Let me know if you need help with choosing a good advertising program for your blog. Just use the contact me form and I will be there for you :-).

50 best business blogs
If you’re like me it’s highly likely you spend a lot of time reading blogs. There are a few blogs I keep regular tabs on and even a rare handful I subscribe to, but I always always enjoy finding new blogs. Especially those with well written content, interesting opinions and of course, useful comments.
But how do you know which are worth reading if you don’t want to spend a lot of time reading them in the first place. You could head to
Technorati
and view the popular blogs page. You could check out the blog rolls of those you already read and you’ll see a couple of fantastic blogs I read on the right hand side of this page.
Of course, you could also do a
Google
search on the topic you want to read about and find a blog that way.
However these all require time for reading and evaluation. There must be an easier way?
Well there is. Our friends at the
Times
(THE leading British daily and Sunday paper) have published their list of
50 best business blogs
.
Some of these blogs I happily agree with and some I believe should be stricken from the record. I mean who really cares what Charles Dunstone, CEO of Carphone Warehouse has to say…. not me.
But there are some gems on their also, like
Richard Edelman’s PR blog
and
Seth Godin’s marketing blog
. You could do a lot worse than to read these for ideas and inspiration on how to market your business, your blog or your products. They are certainly the source of some inspiration for me.
Of course, I
I would love to get your thoughts and opinions on the blogs you ready and why. Please feel free to add a comment with a link and I’ll check out your recommendations, or even your own blog if you want to brag about it. If I like what I see, I’ll post up a short review.

I don’t rely on anyone’s dofollow blog list to search for new dofollow blogs. Most of the list available online are not updated for months or years. Huge number of dofollow blogs change to nofollow daily. Verifying dofollow blogs frequently helps to create good list of dofollow blogs. Using
Google Custom Search Engine
will help us to find nofollow easier. Randomly search for any keyword from custom search engine (list of dofollow URL you have collected) and verify the comment links are dofollow or nofollow.
There are only one method I prefer to use to find high PR dofollow blogs. That is manually search from google or yahoo search engine. Mostly, top results for any keyword searchedwill have high PR. Going trough top 1,000 search results for any keyword will deliver hundreds of new dofollow blogs to our list. Continue doing this for as many keyword as possible. At the end of the day, you might able to collect hundreds or thousands of verified high PR dofollow blogs. Commenting on high PR dofollow blogs might help you increase page rank. Better if they allow keyword in name section of commentators which helps tremendously in google SERP ranking.

Greetings -- I am on the road -- hanging out in Starbucks drinking an iced Mocha. It's hot in Texas, and coffee just does not work for me after noon on hot days.
The Buzz In My Inbox
So, I thought it was worth noting that I have gotten several emails today about this voting contest being run by
Dean Hunt to identify the best "make money online Blog
." I was pretty surprised to see MasonWorld.com there.
At the time of this writing, MasonWorld.com is near the top of the list. I'm sure things will move around, and I might end up last. As Brad Pitt would say, "it's an honor just to be nominated."
After thinking about it, I immediately wondered "why am I even on the list"? After all, there are lots of make money online blogs out there with more followers, more content, more controversy. To be honest,
I know why I would want to be on there
. What I mean by that, is while I have no idea why people would like my blog, I know exactly what I am trying to make this blog. Here is my short list.
I put
transparency and honesty above everything
. When I started this blog, I wanted it to known as a place where people could believe what they read. I hope people get that. I'm not perfect, but I always try to tell it like it is.
I wanted this to be
a "no hype" thing
. That's what I mean by the "Down To Earth Internet Marketing" tag line. I try to keep the hype to a minimum (although sometimes I do get excited).
MasonWorld.com is
about Internet Marketing
. Making money online is just a small part of Internet Marketing. So, I would like to think this this blog is more than just another list of ways to make $10 on the internet.
Professionalism
-- I am a real business person in the offline world, and I try to keep it professional on line. If you want name calling and profanify, you have to look elsewhere.
The Zig Ziglar factor.
I really do believe that you can get everything you want in life by getting other people what they want. That is what this blog is about, really. Telling people what I have learned so they don't have to learn it by themselves. I help people get what they want -- and I get what I want. Warm fuzzies and an occasional affiliate commision from real products that I really believe in. What could be better?
So Many Great Blogs, So Little Time
But before you vote for me (or not) -- let's talk about the other blogs on there. Man, there are some great ones. Here are just a few:
Caroline Middlebrook
and
Garry Conn
-- now, I must admit that I do not read them much lately. Both Caroline and Garry have dramatically decreased their blogging as they work on other business models, but there is a ton of great content in their archives. I don't agree with everything that they say all the time, but you can learn a ton from their blogs about blogging (Caroline) and AdSense (Garry).
Jennifer's Pot Pie Girl Blog
. You probably remember me promoting her
One Week Marketing Course
. I did that because it is a great course (I still recommend it), and she is a great gal. Check out her blog if you have not already.
IM With Joe
. Do you know Joe? You should. 'Nuff said. Peace out.
There are some other great blogs in that list (sorry if I did not list you, e.g.
Yaro
), and some that I absolutely cannot stand and would never recommend (I would never list you, but you know who you are).
Several Missing Blogs
I was really surprised to see several missing great blogs -- most notably
Josh Spaulding's Internet Marketing Blog
. Not sure what is up with that -- I actually think Josh's blog is a lot better than my blog. I read every word he writes -- twice. Oh well, you can never have a perfect top list of anything, I guess. (
Hansen's Blog
is missing too).
Vote For Me!
So,
go vote for me if you like this blog
. I am probably not the best blog on that list -- but I guess it might depend on how you measure it. I still want your vote.
It's certainly good for business (note the transparency). LOL
Thanks,
Mark

15 Apr 18 Financial Literacy Websites that aren’t Blogs Momma When you’re selling a house, the realtor will tell you to move all of your personal stuff, (knick-knacks, photos, and general clutter) into a storage unit so that perspective buyers can see THEIR stuff in your house. It makes sense. After all, it’s harder to envision how your things fit when the house is so full of the seller’s stuff. Lately, I’ve been finding the same perspective while reading personal finance blogs. I’m seeing too much clutter in their stories to apply their lessons to my own life. So, today I decided not to read the 20th article about how to use a credit card effectively (or how EVYL they are), I decided to go wandering for some less personalized perspectives. Got a super vain new theme!
Kathy told me the previous layout sucked. I wanted to tell her hers sucked even more, until she asked me to zh’ng her blog header.
As for her header, she took the photograph all by herself. What a skill!
It felt as if I had worked on the current layout like forever, even when I was busy with the procedures of and preparations for my forthcoming new job and Master’s programme.
More excitement in detail soon!
Adi Wong from Rice Blogger came up with the “Top 100 Malaysian blogs List” — a system of blog ranking based solely on a site’s Alexa and Technorati performances combined. MrDefinite.com opened at 76th on the chart on May 26 this year.
Right now, this blog has slipped down to the 85th position.
Not something exactly positive, but not negative either. Adi stated that the ranking is not updated daily, therefore both my Alexa and Technotati rankings as shown in the chart are no reflection of the current exact rankings.
In terms of Alexa ranking, MrDefinite.com is now…
170,731
and increasing!
More updates in the queue, so stay tuned.

A large list of Horse blogs Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 at 4:41 pm I have just discovered a gold mine of Horse Blogs If you read my post “Five good reasons why you should start a blog” I gave you a few reasons for starting a blog for your horse business. You may have thought, “Hey that sounds like a good idea, but where to start, what to write about, and how do I pick out my blog categories”? Well I think that the first step should be to check out and read some postings at a few horse blogs that relate to whatever you are passionate about with horses. I did a some quick Internet surfing and found this wonderfully large and varied Horse blogs List at the Bridlepath blog. Doris gave me permission to repost her huge list here. And I have added to it too. She also would love if you’d check out her equestrian blog too. Note that all the links below will open in a new browser window. Clifford is the star of the true horse story, “Clifford of Drummond Island” and the sequel, “Return to Manitou.” What started out as bloglike ramblings became a book, so never underestimate the power of the written word! “Great horse books and loved her dog ebook too.” – Joni Solis Box of Stars: Young Riders Series, Book One When a riding accident with her beloved, steel grey thoroughbred shatters Olivia’s confidence, the rest of her life starts falling apart, too. Will the “box of stars” that holds Olivia’s dream of making the national Young Riders team be closed forever? Or can cute Will Winfield’s own secret fear inspire Olivia to get back in the saddle–and back to her dreams? Judging from the comments on the article, many business owners responded that they’ll eschew the “libelous” site altogether, citing a slew of “stupid” and “false” reviews that “should have been removed.” (Though their passionate responses here seem to contradict the promised refrain.) Which just goes to show why businesses SHOULDN’T have a voice on this site. It’ll turn Yelp into a messy war zone, with most small businesses objecting to any criticism, petty or legitimate (and who is the best judge of that? Certainly not the businesses). Indeed, many people think Yelp is too easy on outfits. FeedMeDrinkMe’s Renee Wilmeth posted an article a while back citing the amateur, easy-to-please palates of the majority of reviewers on Yelp. Indeed, the spirit of the site seems to reward favored small businesses more than to harpoon errant ones (though that does happen). How about this: Instead of diluting a consumer-driven Web site, Yelp or some other enterprising outfit should erect a site where small business owners have the choice to skewer bad reviews. They can pull them from Yelp, dailies, magazines, weeklies, TV shows, etc. Everything wrong with a review–misspellings, factual errors, obvious lapses in judgement, and presumptuous statements–could be flogged for all the world to see. Don’t crash a party, small businesses. Start your own: Badreviews.com?

What’s been really surprising? The demographic accounting for this massive growth: Baby Boomers are now dominating the social media scene, at least with respect to adoption rate. Facebook, once perceived as a college kid activity when it was restricted to college e-mail addresses, now has women over the age of 55 to thank for its most recent growth, according to Inside Facebook. In the past four months alone, this demographic has grown a staggering 175.3 percent. Additionally, the number of Facebook users over the age of 35 has nearly doubled in the past 60 days. Similarly and to an even greater degree, Twitter has been the beneficiary from the surge in traffic from the middle-age demographic. Recent research from comScore discovered that 45 to 54 year olds are 36 percent more likely than the average Twitterer’s age to visit the site, which makes them the largest indexing age group. Overall, the average age of all 10 million twitterers is over the age of 35. What does this mean for businesses? Social media, no longer a playground for the young, has reached a critical mass for use as an effective marketing tool. Coupled with the decline of print media, social media is now on the precipice of assuming its throne as king of reaching the masses. The onus is on businesses to come up with clever ways to effectively utilize these social media tools to bring customers back and reach new potential customers. And that’s where we come in. Let us create or refine your social media strategy and maximize these tools for you.
